Eliza Thinsulate™ Field Boot by SmartPak is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking boot, but too narrow I have the non-insulated Eliza tall boots and LOVE them. I bought the same exact size in the insulated field boot, and they don't fit- I literally can't even get them zipped past my ankle! I do have a wider calf, but thought the wide calf model of these would fit, since that's what I have for my non-insulated ones. Back they go, too bad since they seemed like nice boots. So, if you are ordering based on your calf size in the non-insulated Eliza tall boots, these may not work for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfy and warm! I was skeptical about how warm these boots could be, but I’ve been wearing them over the last two weeks and even when temperatures were down in the high 20’s/low 30s, and on concrete floors my feet stayed warm. They were a little stiff and uncomfortable across my ankle, but put some leather conditioner on them and they seem to be working out just fine. Perfect fit too!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great quality weird sizing The leather & construction quality is fabulous but the sizing was a bit off for my leg. The calf runs a bit large compared to the size chart

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit, breaking in (relatively) painlessly These boots fit me really well right out of the box. I didn't measure when I ordered because I like to live dangerously, but I did base my order on the size I wear in my Ariat tall boots, and they were spot on. As is to be expected with new tall boots, they are very stiff when you first put them on, but I wore them (without conditioning first... what is wrong with me?!) to do am chores at my barn to break them in because, again, I like to live dangerously. After feeding, turning out, and mucking stalls for 10 horses by myself they were pretty close to broken in. They dropped quite a bit and, although they were rubbing my ankles quite a bit, didn't leave me with any blisters, and my feet and calves were toasty warm the whole time. I am giving these a 5/5 for all around value, comfort, and styling!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good for moderate temps For the price, these are nice boots. The zippers on mine don't stay up well, though and continuously unzip while I ride. And I don't them warm enough for cold winter days, but are comfortable for 40-60 degree days. They are comfortable though. A bit short for me, but I am 5'7" with small feet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Calf sizing wrong for me Thought I would try these for winter over the more expensive and unavailable Ariat Bromont. Foot not as comfortable as Ariat boots but would have been okay for seasonal wear. My problem was with the Regular 14” calf circumference. Fit fine over summer riding tights, but, the of a winter insulated boot for me is to be warm and toastie with fleece lined breeches and ski boarding wool socks for hours spent fox chasing during the winter. The wide calf size would be too big even with my layers. Back they go with disappointment as otherwise look like a good product at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits like a glove! I've tried on at least a dozen pair of tall boots (that includes in stores and buying online), and the calf was always either too narrow or too wide. I was losing hope that I'd find a pair of quality boots that fit. I couldn't believe the "wide" calf measurement of the Eliza Thinsulate: it was the perfect size. I ordered a pair with quite a bit of trepidation, because until now I'd always been let down. The shipping was so fast: two days from order to arrival. They looked amazing when I took them out of the box, and felt as though they (at least the calf) were already broken in. I tried them on, and they fit perfectly. I honestly couldn't be happier with these boots. I think I'm going to order another of the same pair immediately so I know I have reliable replacements if/when these wear out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot for the price! I am really impressed with these boots. I got a pair of pleather boots from a competitor, and they started splitting almost immediately. The Eliza boots are real leather and so much nicer. My horse even stepped on one--oops--and it doesn't even have a mark on it. I cannot believe the value of these. Warm and comfortable to wear, not too bulky at all. So impressed. I am a little shorter and usually take an Ariat Short. At first I size up a half a size in these boots to fit winter socks, but the boot was too tall for me. I re-oredered my regular size, and the height is perfect, and, because they are leather, they have stretched out perfectly to accommodate my feet and heavier socks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great looking boot - not made for wide calf The Eliza was meant to replace my Mountain Horse Thinsulate that the zipper was defective on. I got the Eliza last night, was super impressed about how it looked and it wasn’t bulky like the MH boot. My calf is a 15.5”, this boot wouldn’t even zip to my ankle, it’s cut SUPER small. They are going back today, I can shrink my calf but not my ankle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this boot...it is warm but not bulky I love the way this boot fits, is warm and easy to put on. And it looks great to boot! Whooohooo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very stylish Learned the wide on these boots means that the calf is made a bit larger, just what I needed. The fit is great and true to size, very snowy and bitter cold so haven’t rode in them yet and hate to get them dirty. They look so nice on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made, very warm without being bulky, These boots arrived and i wore them out fox hunting for 3 hours the next day. They are very comfortable and warm, a little stiff to start but softened up quickly. Very well made and really love the supportive foot bed. Im very pleased with the wide calf option, they fit perfectly .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Tall Boots These boots are amazing - I have been wearing them non-stop. The fit is great, they are warm and cozy for the cooler winter days. Beautiful looking. Highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boots for the money! I bought these boots to replace my Mountain Horse Active Winter boots, which had finally worn out. I was looking for something warm, but not as bulky, especially on the soles, as the MH boots were almost unsafe to ride in due to their bulky soles. These boots are pretty and broke in after a couple rides. I really like them, as they feel like regular tall boots. They definitely aren't as warm as my MH boots were in the foot, so I might need some foot warmers here in Montana, but otherwise they are comfortable and fairly warm. I give them 4 stars due to the foot not being super warm and also the zippers can be very sticky. I hope they don't break.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good so far I cannot speak to the longevity of these boots as I have only worn then a couple times, but I like them so far. I'm 5'3" with a calf height measurement of 15" and calf circumference of 15". I bought an 8.5 regular (up a half size from normal) so that I can fit heavy socks in them and still wiggle my toes. They fit rather well, with the usual tight calf and extra height that breaking in should fix. They are decently warm, though I will put toe warmers in them on super cold days. Overall happy with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy I was gifted these boots for Christmas (I ordered and my husband wrapped them!) I am pleasantly surprised with the quality and warmth! A little stiff and will require a little bit of break in. But I wore them to ride 3 horses in wind chills in the teens and my feet stayed super warm. No feeling like your toes are going to shatter when you dismount. But after 4 hours in them no blisters (huge issue for me normally) on my heels or ankles. They may run a tad big in the calf but works well for thicker winter breeches and layers. Super impressed. Cant speak on durability as I’ve only ridden in them for one day so far. Will update at the end of winter!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very reasonably priced, look decent, stay warm I really like these boots for the price, I will buy them again in their non-insulated form. I wasn't sure if my feet would be warm without additional bulk but in temps down into the 20s I'm doing fine. The zippers do have a tendency to snag, and I can't wear super thick socks, so would recommend going up half a size. I added mink oil to mine for additional waterproofing, and there was virtually no break-in time. I also added a new footbed, since I have high arches, that was a game changer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super cool-looking boot! I bought these because I can't pass up a good deal! These look very similar to the Ariat boots but at a fraction of the cost. Not sure as to how well they will hold up; they are still new. Easy to get on and zip. A great alternative to wearing your expensive boots for trail and schooling I do like the looks of these boots and the chunky sole/heel. 4 stars only because quality is what you would expect from a boot in this price range :)
Date published: 2020-12-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised! These boots were of much higher quality than I was expecting at this price point. The leather quality and stitching is more of what I would expect in the $300 price range, not sub-$200. They are comfortable and warm without being bulky. The only things that could be better are the insoles (easy fix) and for the zippers you have to make sure they are pulled up to the very top or they will slide down an inch or two. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.
Date published: 2020-12-11
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I got these the other day and was excited to have a pair of winter boots that aren’t $300. They had a chemical type smell to them when I opened the box but they looked so cute. Unfortunately the calf is much too wide and the top of the boot digs into the back of my knee. I wish these were offered in slim short. I will have to figure out how to send them back.
Date published: 2020-11-13
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Zipper broke on first day of riding! Was happy to find a winter boot that I could wear foxhunting and still look stylist. In the truck driving to meet zipper broke..Had to duck tape them it together. And now I have to buy a box at UPS to send them back.
