Terrible compared to old model
I’m not one to write reviews on an item unless I absolutely love it. And I really don’t do ‘bad’ reviews. But this boot was so terrible in my opinion I had to. Let me start with this- I’ve been in the horse industry for over 2 decades and have wore many different types and brands of boots. I ride all around horses, English and western, polox, etc. I first received a pair of the regular Dublins 11yrs ago. Loved them from out of the box. They are a size 6. True to fit, broke in great, and stayed waterproof for ages. I eventually upgraded to Duberrys, which is my preferred river type boot. But the ones I own are not warm and I live in Ohio and need a warmer boot. I’ve owned mountain horse winter boots which were fine, and I have a different pair of older grey blue colored dublins from around 2013?? So it was time for a new winter boot. I ordered several from Smartpak to try on at home with the option to return what didn’t work. I ordered first the ariat lace up boot that was $320. That boot was also crap and after seeing that boot in person I lol’d at the price tag. See my review of those if you’re interested. I’m done with ariat
I had hope for these and they were back ordered and just came in today. I ordered them in a 6.5 with the idea that I’d wear thicker socks or inserts etc. these fit like a very small 6. They are small and more narrow than my older pair, which is an actual size 6. Now I get it, feet change a bit as we age etc etc. no problem. That’s why I ordered up. I have no issue with higher end boots in my normal size, but for whatever reason a lot of these brads boots are getting smaller and more narrow that previous models.
My bigger issue, other than foot size, was the weird enlarged calf. What is that about? You can’t see it in the pictures on the site at all. And the hole at the top of the boot isn’t that wide. So, take it from me, if your calf is actually that large, you will never get it in to that boot so there’s no reason for the over exaggeration of the calf. A straighter boot would’ve worked fine for the average person. I also hate the toe box. It’s weird and round and looks like a clog. Blech.
I want to note- this is no reflection to Smartpak. I buy a lot of stuff from them and they are great. They answer all my questions and I always receive orders on time etc. but to the makers of these boots, you really need to ask real people what they think. I cannot see that many people liking the fit and shape of this boot. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’ll be saving up and getting a warmer pair of Duberry boots.
Also- I did end up keeping a pair of lace up winter ovation winter boots. The price reflected quality and if I get one or two winters out of them I’ll be happy.

Cozy
My mom got me these for Christmas. At first I thought that the foot part was going to be to tight width wise. But I was determined to love them. The longer I wear them the better they fit. And they are keeping my feet nice and warm and they fit fin I’m the stirrups. I’m so happy.
