As a woman with chicken legs, it’s so amazing to find a boot that finally fits in the calf and looks good on me. That being said, if you are considering these boots, measure your legs first. When they say slimfit, they MEAN SLIMfit. Especially around the tops of the boots. Which is why I love them, but someone else may not. If you are on the fence about whether or not you actually have chicken legs, perhaps go with the regular fit Galway boot. You can feel the quality and care put into the boots straight out of the box. Well done Dubarry. That being said, I did dock you guys one star because as amazing as these boots are, and as much time and effort as you have clearly put into crafting them, you’ve GOT to do something about the flat, firm footbed. There is zero arch support, and zero cushion. While I can deal with it, for almost $500 boots, nobody should HAVE to deal with it. Dubarry, you’ve got to step up your game on the insole. Please please please. Again, I still love your boots, I’ll still buy your boots and wear em til I drop, but for them to earn five stars and be truly worth that price tag, they NEED better cushion and support on the footbed.

They do hold well, but I've been wearing Dubarrys for 10+ years now and I like to have a barn pair and dress up pair. The slim fit is very slim, so unless you have very skinny calfs, go with the regular calf fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by equineracers from Great boots, however I believe alittle over priced Worn these boots a few days now, love how tall they are, how durable they seem to be, pretty comfortable, and like how they just rinse dirt right off. I've wear them to ride as well. A little loose in the ankle and foot area, and do get a bit warm, however I do live in So Cal. One thing I do not like, is the dirt and mud clump up on the bottom of my heel and I have to keep scraping the dirt off, but that could just be me. I got these boots on sale for $300 and to be honest I think that is what they are worth, but I might change my mind over time.

The first pair I bought in my correct size (US size 9 - 40) , regular calf, and wore them all spring, summer, and fall with jeans tucked in and thin socks. For winter I ordered a 42 so I could put in thick insoles and wear with thick socks. The insoles add a bit of support as well as insulation. I ordered the 42 regular, but the calf was too big; the 42 slim fit was perfect!!!! Extravagant? Yes, but I have worn one or the other pair almost every day; sun, rain, and snow! If my house was on fire, I would put on these boots to run outside!

I have a size 43 (normally a 42 but these do run a little small) and a 13" calf (yes, they're tiny), the regular fit Galway looks ridiculous on me but the slim fit is great! The calf fits perfect. I'm withholding a 5 star review only because I haven't had them long enough to attest for their durability but so far the fit and comfort is great! A tip; if the foot area feels too loose when you have the adequate size add the insole and they will fit much better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by lmf2422 from Nice boots, but beware of quality issues I really like these boots, and am thrilled that Dubarry makes a slim cut (I was unable to find another manufacturer that makes a slim cut country boot), but I needed to add an insole for these boots to be truly comfortable. Otherwise they have no support. Also it took several pairs to find one where the boots were actually the same height, the leather in the foot wasn't oddly crinkled in one boot, and the foot felt similar left to right. For the cost of these boots, the quality and consistency should be much, much better. Handmade is supposed to indicate better quality, not worse. One would think that Dubarry would inspect their boots before sending them out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Urban Cowgirl from Quality boot but it does have a VERY slim fit! I have a thin calf and narrow foot and was excited to see the Dubarry Galway came in slim fit. But as others have mentioned, it is VERY slim. It was OK with low socks, but uncomfortable with my jeans tucked in. I re-ordered the Galway in the regular fit and it was perfect with jeans and knee-highs. Durably is a great boot, of course, but it is truly a slim fit.
