sizing off
i bought this boot because it's durable enough for outside usage. my horse has one funky foot (slipped out toe). he measures 6" heel to toe and 5" side to side. got the size 6 because of his long toe, it was waayy to big. i did keep it for when he gets abcesses and i have to wrap the foot before putting it in the boot. otherwise solidly made.

Great boots for tender footed horses
I bought these for my 27 year old paint horse that is barefoot and lives outside. He tried to founder and was very gimpy and unsound. My vet had me put these on his front feet for 4 weeks with the gel inserts. They were just what he needed! He walked in them very comfortably without a limp. He also wore them in his pasture. They held up really well and never tore or broke. Definitely recommend them if your horse has tender bare feet or loses a shoe!

In between boot sizes
I love the design, but 1 is too big for my half welsh pony and 0 too small. So im going with the size 1, but it is a bit sloshy, so hopefully it will work.

My horse has very thin hoof walls, using boots for turn out to keep hooves from chipping and breaking off. Very easy to put on and take off. Sizing chart was very helpful for good fit.

Easy to use.
I bought this to protect my horse's bandaged foot so he could be turned out while recovering from an abscess. It was very easy to put on and take off, and stayed put even though I had a size or two too big. I measured his not-so-recently trimmed opposite hoof and ordered that size, figuring it would allow room for the bandage. Way too much room! So I'm guessing that if the hoof measurement is on the line between sizes, get the smaller one. With 2 weeks of constant use, the boot shows almost no sign of wear, and my horse never even seemed to notice it's presence, so I assume it was comfortable for him.

Well built!
Although my horse has only had this model boot for two rides, he's had other models by Cavallo. At first glance they look tougher than the Treks and fit really well. He's currently barefoot for turn out but still needed some support for riding and these are perfect. He's galloping around like he's half his age (he's 20) when we ride now. These are great boots for extra support while riding for the usually barefoot horse.

No rubs
Got these for a growing yearling that gets ponied on pavement and gravel. She loves her boots, and though they are a bit big for now, they don’t rub or twist.

Nice boot
I bought these boots to keep my mare from breaking up her feet when she stands around and paws or stomps flies. They do their job but they did create a sore spot on her heal.

So far so good!
Well, I've only tried them once on a 15 minute ride but they sure seemed to help my guy and I hope they will hold up for longer rides. What I was very impressed with was that they got here a day early!!!!!

Fit well
Was great getting my horse thru an abscess- she has thin soles so needed extra protection when on limited turnout waiting for the abscess to drain. Kept the wrap intact and foot clean especially with all the wet weather we’ve had.

Nice boot
I bought these for my pony to keep her feet dry to prevent abscesses. They are well made, but did not fit her well because she has a very wide foot and petite pasterns. Smartpak was great with the return!

The Cure for Tender Feet!
I had the shoes taken off my 6 y.o. TWH mare before the Chicago area winter took hold. After the the snow turned to ice, then thawed and dried (temporarily), she developed tender front feet on the trail - probably from all the dislodged, loose gravel. I talked with friends that used over boots and decided to order the Cavallo ELB's from SmartPak. I measured her hoofs and ordered size 3's - perfect fit! (note that I measured her mid-way through her winter trim cycle, so, after a trim, I had to cinch them a little more).
From our first ride with the ELB's, I could see the relief for my horse. She had no problem walking, gaiting, or loping in them. And they never showed signs of coming loose. She was over her tender feet in a week, and ready to go barefoot again. But I now put them on her whenever I see signs of tenderness returning.
When another arctic blast hit our area later in the winter, I found that the ELB's were extremely slippery on snowy / icy ground. I called Smartpak to ask about studs for my ELB's. A SmartPerson told me that SmartPak didn't carry them, but Cavallo did. She even directed me to a link. I ordered the screw-in studs and installed them in the boots - Problem immediately solved! While other horses were slipping on the trails, my baby was prancing like a mountain goat. The studs are great! I realize that installation of studs invalidates the warranty, but I couldn't be happier with the boots - and the studs. NOTE: If you order the studs, you need to get them with the installation tool. You can't screw them in without it.
OH yeah: No problem to use SMB's along with the ELB's (see photo).
NOTE TO SMARTPAK: Please start carrying the Cavallo screw-in studs and installation tool!

Studs for Winter Riding - Available for this Boot!
I just ordered these boots. Haven't received them yet. But I wanted to share with other potential buyers during these cold winter months: I called Smartpak and spoke with a Smart Human (I love Smartpak!), on Sunday, no less. She helped me find where I can order screw-in studs (for wintry conditions) for these boots on-line - from the manufacturer. I'll write a follow-up review later, and if the studs work well (and I'm sure the boots will not be returnable / exchangeable after studs are screwed into them), I'll write a review of both and recommend that Smartpak carry these boot studs as well.

Couldn't get them on....
So, I had to return them. The uppers were too tall for my Arab. I bought them to replace a pair of Cavaullo Simple Boots, whose uppers are made of leather, which shrunk. The Entry Level's look well made. No pads which is a drawback and, they don't come in pairs.

Hard to size, but appear to be a good quality
Okay, so I realize my horse might be the exception to the rule because he is still in the middle stages of rehabbing his feet and becoming barefoot, BUT after carefully following the printable chart, the size was way off what he is going to need. He is a 15.2 TB, and the chart indicated that he will be a 0 but that was way to small. I will return and try again since smartpak is so awesome about those things. A ton of people have recommended this boot for the quality and durability, so I am hopeful that I can figure out the right size for him.

My horse loves them!
I got these because I recently moved my gelding to a pasture board facility that does not allow horses to have hind shoes. The pasture footing is really nice, so I only needed some help for the riding part until/if his feet adjust. I used their measuring guide and they fit really nicely (he has pretty narrow feet, so I was a little suspicious). Overall, I'm super impressed and am so glad I bit the bullet and purchased them! I can also tell my horse really likes them. I went on two trail rides in the snow this past weekend, one without the Cavallo boots and the second with them and he was much more confident with them! He's an older guy, so it made me so happy to feel him be spunky again :) 100% would recommend to anyone interested in an exercise boot for their horse. I have only had them for about a month, so I can't speak to how long and well they hold but personally. I have several other friends who have these boots and the upgraded versions, all still in great condition after years of use.

Great all around boot
I first bought a pair of these boots several years ago for a pasture horse with navicular. They have served me well for this purpose & I have since ordered more, even though the original pair still have not worn out. I recently tried them on my new horse to trail ride with as he has a wider foot than long. During the summer he gets tender footed, and I don't want to put shoes on him. I was concerned about using these for riding. They seemed sort of bulky & I ride through many different types of terrain. They are working fantastic! No rubbing and they stay on. Will be ordering more of these.

Excellent boots!
I was very worried about protecting my barefooted Florida show horse while riding in North Georgia on vaca. These boots were absolutely perfect and did not cause him any discomfort or rubbing. My only issue was that he needed a full size smaller than I ordered. Luckily I ordered sizes 4 & 5 so it worked out fine.

Perfect for allowing feet to heal
Boots were perfect to help a lame mare recover and still be able to go out with her stable mates.. They were great protection for her soles. You just have to make sure you put them on straight and tight enough that the horse doesn't run out of them..

I'm extremely pleased with these boots. I went on a 6 hour trail ride and had no problems with them. My only recommendation would be to use the mm measurement not the inches. I used inches and ordered the wrong size the first time I bought them.

It works
My OTTB gelding has a persistent bruising problem with his front feet. He can't wear shoes so, before the boots, I would have to practice my duct tape wrapping skills, which are marginal at best and complicated by a 1300 lb sore-hoofed patient with ADHD. The boots solved everything: pack the hoof and literally slip on the boots. It's also great that you can order individual boots, since he has different sized feet, and they wear well with minimal care. Have 2 pair now so I can clean one pr while he's wearing the other. Both our lives are so much more comfortable.

My horse acted like I had put shackles on him. He did not want to move for about 5 minutes. I had to remove the boot after approximately 15 minutes.

Best if used with some socks to prevent rubbing! Good quality. I use with soft ride pads every day.
