Back on Track recommends using a standing wrap to support the Knee Boots.
Please read carefully, both the usage and washing instructions, before using the product.
All Back on Track products should be implemented gradually. To start with, use the product for a maximum of four hours a day for the first 2-3 days. The body then has the opportunity to familiarize itself with the fabric’s effects.
The reason we recommend starting with a maximum of 4 hours use is that some people experience pain in the beginning. In horses and dogs, it manifests itself as a swelling. This is due to the increased blood circulation, which is actually a good indication that the ceramic fabric is taking effect. This initial pain or swelling can occur anywhere from a few to several hours of use. You should then cease using the product any more that day, and instead introducing it carefully and more gradually over the following days.
After the introductory period you should up the usage to a minimum of 8 hours per day, preferably more. After only an hour or so is often perceived a positive effect on tight muscles and stiff joints. More persistent problems may require several days, usually between 10-20, before the desired result is achieved.
After the introductory period of 2-3 days it is important to continue to use the product intensively at least 10, preferably 20 days, before assessing its impact. Since this ceramic fabric reflects more of the body’s heat radiation as you move, the effect is greatest if you wear the product when active. Back on Track also works when resting, even when you sleep.
Continue to use the product according to the routine you develop, or use it for two weeks and then take a break in the third week, this in order to avoid dependency. The sensitivity of this dependency varies from individual to individual. For maximum effect, the ceramic fabric should be in direct contact with the skin (if necessary, a thin cotton cloth inserted between).
Note: Caution is advised during simultaneous use with liniment or similar, since the effect is amplified. Use the product only as directed and consult a doctor if symptoms persist. Do not use during pregnancy.
Specific instructions for use on horses and dogs:
Keep in mind that the effect of Back and Track increases with movement when the body heat increases, so in addition to using pads and blankets in the stables, the horse can also be allowed to move around with the Back on Track products. Especially suitable in this context is Riding Boots, Leg Wraps, Saddle Pads, Exercise Sheets and Blanket/Sheets.
For long term problems, the horse may need to use Back on Track for an extended period. Use the product for two to three weeks and have a break one week, to see if the symptoms persist.
As a preventive measure, Back on Track can be used with regular breaks. Use Back on Track 1 day before and 2 days after exercise and then stop until the next workout. For warm-up, use 1-2 hours before and 2-4 hours after exercise.
For dogs, one often uses the standard Dog Blanket, which is rain repellent and breaths. However, it should be noted that for long-running problems, Back on Track should be used for several weeks, at least 8 hours per day, with regular breaks in order to achieve the desired results. This means that the dog can use the blanket day and night, indoor as well as outdoor, 24/7. If being used at night, it is probably more comfortable for the dog to wear the Mesh Blanket, which is more adaptable. Alternatively, the dog may be provided with a mattress with "memory foam" or a cover of Back on Track to the sleeping basket. The foam part molds to the body shape and relieves a sore back.
Washing:
Back on Track products can be machine washed up to 86°F or 30°C. Use normal detergents that do not contain bleach or fabric softeners. Air dry only, do NOT tumble dry.
Note: Do not use bleach or fabric softener, or tumble dry. The product should be ironed at a maximum temperature of 122 F The ceramic powder is fused in the fibres of polyester/polypropylene and does not separate when washed. The textile loses efficiency with time and extended use.
The textile is produced in China and consists of 100% polypropylene (PP) with ceramic powder or 50% polyester with ceramic powder and 50% cotton.

Great results
So far very happy with the knee boots. Easy to put on and my horse seems to like them. Weather has been terrible so not been able to ride but she seems more comfortable.

I wish they stayed up
I have had these for about a year but I only used them a month because they wouldn't stay up. I got them for my reining horse who has some arthritis in her knee. I bought mediums for my her and they worked great the first two weeks. I noticed the swelling down and she was moving better. Unfortunately though they stretched out and will not stay up now. I've tried putting them on upside down and standing wraps, but nothing seems to work :/

Love these!
These definitely provide heat to his knees, and quickly. Stay on perfectly without standing bandage, I think you just need to find the right size. I went off of SmartPak's size chart, but there is a more in depth one at the Back on Track site. I use them when he is standing on cross ties or in his stall but I have also walked him around a bit in the indoor and had no slipping issues.

Worked great!
One of my horses was kicked in the knee by another horse. Two and a half weeks of poultices, wraps, and isolation was driving both of us crazy and not doing much good. I feared she would be lame forever. It was all pricey, but I bought the quick wraps and knee boots and used them together. They worked great and she didn't try to rub them off. She loved wearing them, and was soon doing well and was back running with the herd two weeks later.

Helps with an old injury
It seems to help my mare with an old knee injury. She feels better and gets around better than without them. I ordered size medium for an AQHA mare and the knee boot on the non-swollen leg tends to slide down.

They fit and worked
I got these for my older mare for soft tissue stiffness. They fit and worked just fine. After about 2hrs in them shes able to bend her knees better and seems to be more comfortable.

Awesome product!
I debated buying these for my OTTB with torn ligaments in his knee. The first day I put one on the swelling decreased greatly and the flexibility of his joint was back! It has held up very well in the pasture too! Love back on track products!

Great fit
I bought these wraps a few weeks ago and they're really nice! I bought a medium for my 16.1 thoroughbred gelding. They fit really well, as long as they're centered, they won't slip down. I bought them to see if they'd help with his tripping under saddle . I haven't been able to ride much, but hopefully they'll help.

I have been using the knee boots on my 24 year old arthritic retired barrel racer mare. I thought it might help ease her pain. They are a bit of work to use as the wraps are totally necessary to keep them in place. I am disappointed--I thought I'd feel some warmth on her knees or on the inside of the boots when removed them but I don't

Not user friendly
Bought these knee boots, disappointed on how well they DON'T stay up. Tried turning them upside down like SmartPak suggested, still do not stay up. Tried putting wraps on and STILL do not stay up. Wish they didn't have elastic straps, might eliminate the sliding down. Pleased with the results on how my horses knew feel, though.

Bought these for my barrel horse who is recovering from a knee injury.. wrap them every night for 2 weeks then leave them off for a few nights! I hope these help him heal back to 110%

Good product...wont stay on my three year old AQHA
I love reviews on back on track and the concept of success. My three year old sustained a near catastrophic kick from boss mare. Tried these for extra support but with large stall they wont stay on

Runs Large, but Good product
I'm a huge fan of the BOT products, however I wasn't too satisfied with these boots. They strech very fast and run very big. I have a hard time of keeping them up. You have to have standing wraps on underneath for them to stay on. I purchased the BOT quick wraps as well and I can't use them with the knee boots they will just simply fall down. So I later than bought the BOT standing wraps. They seem to hold better. Not the quality I would have expected from Back on Track

My horse loves these!
I bought these for my horse because he got cellulitis in his knee and I figured these would help (or at least couldn't hurt). I have to say I think they have helped a lot. I also use to hear his knees pop quite often, he's a 15 year old 1.20 jumper. I put these on him at shows and before lessons, and he tucks his knees a little better, and just seems like he feels better!

Easy to use
Like all Back on Track products, these boots are not cheap, and I can't really say if it accelerated the healing process, but it sure beat attempting to wrap that knee (not even the vet's bandaging would stay put). This item, along with the Back on Track "Quick Wrap" allowed me to keep the knee clean and the leg (and knee boot) supported. I do beleive that these products work, as I use them on myself too and can feel the effects.

Best Invention for horses
Really loved these boots. I've only used them 3 times, and only had them a couple of days. I LOVE them. I tried them on my sore elbows first. You can't deny they are working, and if you try- you haven't left them on long enough. Give them a chance!! My horse had almost no reaction the first time, but the second time had a ton of release. He was licking and chewing and yawning and pawing. He showed me they were working for him. I bought them for some sudden fluid he had in his knee. They are worth the price, the magnetic stuff is soo much more expensive.
I bought from smartpak because of their AWESOME free shipping and great staff, and they have lived up to and went beyond my expectations again- they replaced my boots, no questions asked! I do LOVE these boots, no doubt, but the top velcro strap came loose and just hung by a thread on the right boot within just 2 wears, not sure how- but again, smartpak being as awesome as there, are replacing it no issue at all. I will definitely be buying hock boots, a blanket, a brace for my older aunt, and some stuff for myself. :)
OH by the way, my horse is 5 years old, and has had multiple issues, this is definitely what he needed to complete his final step to rehabilitation. I've not been able to see the effects YET in the saddle, but have felt his legs and seen him feeling a bit better in the pasture, I'd say that's pretty good for just a couple hours of wear.

Great Product
My horse had a really weird knee injury where his knee fills up with fluid every once and awhile. Not sure exactly what he did or how he does it. The vet believes it's because he sleeps on his pasterns and therefore the fluid builds up to his knees. He's never lame or impacted from this it just looks like a balloon. The back on track knee boots have totally cured him from this. By wearing these boots, they reduce swelling completely. I've also noticed improvement during our rides and when jumping. Just be slow to introduce him/her to the boots, at least for my boy, he filled within 15-20 minutes of wearing them the first few days. I totally swear by the back on track products!!
