Instructions

Instructions for Use:
Please read carefully, both the usage and washing instructions, before using the product.

All Back on Track products should be implemented gradually. To start with, use the product for a maximum of four hours a day for the first 2-3 days. The body then has the opportunity to familiarize itself with the fabric’s effects.

The reason we recommend starting with a maximum of 4 hours use is that some people experience pain in the beginning. In horses and dogs, it manifests itself as a swelling. This is due to the increased blood circulation, which is actually a good indication that the ceramic fabric is taking effect. This initial pain or swelling can occur anywhere from a few to several hours of use. You should then cease using the product any more that day, and instead introducing it carefully and more gradually over the following days.

After the introductory period you should up the usage to a minimum of 8 hours per day, preferably more. After only an hour or so is often perceived a positive effect on tight muscles and stiff joints. More persistent problems may require several days, usually between 10-20, before the desired result is achieved.

After the introductory period of 2-3 days it is important to continue to use the product intensively at least 10, preferably 20 days, before assessing its impact. Since this ceramic fabric reflects more of the body’s heat radiation as you move, the effect is greatest if you wear the product when active. Back on Track also works when resting, even when you sleep.

Continue to use the product according to the routine you develop, or use it for two weeks and then take a break in the third week, this in order to avoid dependency. The sensitivity of this dependency varies from individual to individual. For maximum effect, the ceramic fabric should be in direct contact with the skin (if necessary, a thin cotton cloth inserted between).

Note: Caution is advised during simultaneous use with liniment or similar, since the effect is amplified. Use the product only as directed and consult a doctor if symptoms persist. Do not use during pregnancy.

Specific instructions for use on horses and dogs:

Keep in mind that the effect of Back and Track increases with movement when the body heat increases, so in addition to using pads and blankets in the stables, the horse can also be allowed to move around with the Back on Track products. Especially suitable in this context is Riding Boots, Leg Wraps, Saddle Pads, Exercise Sheets and Blanket/Sheets.

For long term problems, the horse may need to use Back on Track for an extended period. Use the product for two to three weeks and have a break one week, to see if the symptoms persist.

As a preventive measure, Back on Track can be used with regular breaks. Use Back on Track 1 day before and 2 days after exercise and then stop until the next workout. For warm-up, use 1-2 hours before and 2-4 hours after exercise.

For dogs, one often uses the standard Dog Blanket, which is rain repellent and breaths. However, it should be noted that for long-running problems, Back on Track should be used for several weeks, at least 8 hours per day, with regular breaks in order to achieve the desired results. This means that the dog can use the blanket day and night, indoor as well as outdoor, 24/7. If being used at night, it is probably more comfortable for the dog to wear the Mesh Blanket, which is more adaptable. Alternatively, the dog may be provided with a mattress with "memory foam" or a cover of Back on Track to the sleeping basket. The foam part molds to the body shape and relieves a sore back.

Washing:

Back on Track products can be machine washed up to 86°F or 30°C. Use normal detergents that do not contain bleach or fabric softeners. Air dry only, do NOT tumble dry.

Note: Do not use bleach or fabric softener, or tumble dry. The product should be ironed at a maximum temperature of 122 F The ceramic powder is fused in the fibres of polyester/polypropylene and does not separate when washed. The textile loses efficiency with time and extended use.

The textile is produced in China and consists of 100% polypropylene (PP) with ceramic powder or 50% polyester with ceramic powder and 50% cotton.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice value These boots are a great price. They are a nice product but after a week or so of use one of the Velcro straps started falling off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots! I love these boots! My horse had a sesamoid injury a couple years ago and he's always a little sore when I ride him, especially when it's cold. I researched what I could do to help with that and finally came up with back on track, because it uses warmth therapy and increases circulation, which is what a sesamoid injury needs. I was a little skeptical about the whole theory of these boots but after only two rides with them on, results were already apparent. His whole attitude has improved, and he is much more relaxed and comfortable over jumps and on the flat. I've been putting them on him for turnout a couple hours a day as well. They seem to be well built and durable as well. The price is a little expensive, but they are well worth it. I couldn't be happier. Thanks, Back on Track!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly impressed!! Very happy with the quality of this product, just like every other BOT product. My horse seems to enjoy them and is doing very well wearing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really help my horse Cross training keeps my horse happy and fit. Since I have been using these boots on the really tough terrain, my gelding hasn't had the need for ice ... they work so well I use them on the trail and in the arena. This is my second pair. Very happy with these boots :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boot I have an OTTB with occelets, which sometimes swelled up requiring standing wraps most of the time. I started using these as turn out boots during the day and then regular wraps at night. After about a week or so of doing this she no longer needed them at turn out, no more welling so now we just use them as our exercise boots during work outs, Back on Track products are excellent!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just as expected! I purchased these for my dressage horse. The product works as advertised, and the fit is fantastic! Definitely worth the money!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fell apart in 4 months I love these products but they don't last very long at all. For the money I would expect a boot to at least give me a year of wear. And I am not hard on them, with one horse and maybe 4-5 rides a week. Both the front and the back have fallen apart where the velcro piece that goes under the fet lock attaches to the boot. On the back boots the velcro actually de-laminated and came completely apart and I've had to have that replaced. I sincerely wish that they had held up better because I would like to purchase another pair because my horse does require the support for her tendon issues. I just can't justify spending the money again, know that they will fall apart in 4 months. Very sad about this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good boots A horse I've been riding for a while now uses these boots on front and back. They fit very well and once they've formed to the horse's leg they are really easy to put on, but only if you know how to put sports boots on. I've seen some very interesting applications of these boots by younger people at my barn! The horse is an average sized warmblood and wears the large in both front and back boots. The boots fit great and I love how tight his legs are after our rides. The back boots do slip down a bit if you don't get them on right in the "sweet spot," but this is true for all sports boots of this design, so it just takes practice. Overall a great product, though very pricy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful boots I purchased these for my 16.1 Lipizzan gelding for turnout following an injury to the left fore. Even though he is fairly tall, the medium fit perfectly. I have used them for a week now & they have held up great. However, here in Alabama, they can be hot & his legs sweat under them. But after taking off for 1 hour, both the boots & legs dry quickly & can be put back on. They are much safer then polo wraps for turnout & quicker to put on the leg!!!Thanks Smartpak for having these great boots & having wonderful customer service who are always willing to help & get the right product in the right size for your horse!!! As always, Smartpak is awesome!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love!!! I bought these at the World Equestrian Games in 2010 and have used them for every ride since. My horse had a bowed tendon previously and with the use of these he has had no heat or filling in the leg with using these. My gelding is 15.3 but has very short cannon bones and I had to get the small and they fit perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Support Boot These are great! I had never used a BOT product before and so far they work great. With my horse suffering a suspensory injury, I wanted a boot with both suspensory and sesmoid support. I got it and I couldn't ask for anything better. My only complaint is that they hold water. I used the boots as a turnout boot because he needed the support. But otherwise, great boot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not a good fit I LOVE BOT products, but was VERY disappointed with this product. :( Unfortunately, they were WAY too short. The velcro was GREAT, nice and sticky and I liked the design, but they started wearing away on the bottom after the first ride! For the price, I wouldn't expect them to be coming apart so quickly. I have only had them a few weeks and the bottoms are coming apart. I love BOT products, but this one needs some work. It's too bad this one was a waste at this price. :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Brand Bad Fit I love Back on Track products and really do feel they work- so I do strongly encourage people to try their products- well worth the money. That being said- I bought these exercise boots for a 17h horse who suffered a bowed tendon. The length/height of the boot runs extremely short- even the large does not cover where I would want and looks like I put pony sized exercise boots on my horse.Once again, I think BOT has great products in general but I will stick with the BOT polo wraps (highly recommend) and the quick wraps. And thanks to Smartpak who is so wonderful with returns!!!
