Bring back the round toe
These models are different from the round toe, better fitting model from a few years ago. This style pinched my toes, was too big in the ankle and the calf. Felt like I was walking in my Dad's boots. Back they went.

Perfect fit, very warm and great flex in the ankle
Purchased this item for cold NY riding. First day out they kept me warm, provided close contact with my horse and allowed me to flex properly into the stirrup. Very happy with this purchase.

These have been really super. Supportive in tall snow, warm and waterproof. I wood highly recommend. I have tall calves but they are still just great even though they are 4 inches too short (not like I am showing in them). They are functionally perfect.

Pretty happy with these boots
So far these are warm and comfortable. I spend 8-10 hours per day in an unheated (but insulated) barn, going outside into temps that can be 30 below zero wind chills and riding inside where it may be only 10 or 20 above zero actual temp, so I need something that I can walk and ride in, and that will keep my feet warm. These are not the MOST warm riding boots I've ever owned, but they are darn good considering they're attractive as well. They took me about 4-5 days to feel like they were completely broken in, and they did get more comfortable as I wore them. The ankle was the stiffest portion and did rub me wrong for several days, but after breaking in they are fine. The zipper was a little sticky the first few times I used it but that also improved.
They've got some really good features, including an adjustable cinch at the top and a little liner under the zipper at the bottom so if you step in a puddle (I have yet to use them in puddle-temperature weather) it won't get through the zipper to soak your feet.
Downsides--if your feet are somewhat wide, like mine, these are just a touch narrow when you add thick socks. However they're still wider than some other boots I've tried. Also, for a zippered boot that you might expect to be quite fitted, they are pretty loose at the instep/front of the ankle, which allows the foot to slide out of the footbed when riding (and with the width issue, I certainly couldn't downsize to avoid this issue.) And while I have no problem with the height as it is, the top of the boots does end just a little short of the top of the calf, so the neat little cinch feature at the top doesn't do much good to help keep them on either--cinching up around the widest part of my calf won't keep them from falling.

Thank God they are shorter
Amazing!!! Best boot ever!! Warm without bulk.
Not 2 inches over my knee.
Buying a second pair.
Not bulky, great grip ride for jumping . Trainer said heels were down entire lesson.
I did gorilla glue the side tabs because of reviews I read. Tiny gromit pin was worthless .
Worked zippers a few times before I put them on.
No break in, Instantly comfortable !

Too short
Beautifully made boot with nice styling. But WAY too short to ride in! Needs to be at least 2-3 inches taller (I'm 5'8 so not super tall). If Ariat makes these taller, I would definitely purchase -- these are way less bulky than the Mountain Horse winter boots.

Best winter riding boots ever !!!
These boots are warm, not clunky, and are flexible enough to jump in. I have tried multiple different brands of winter tall boots and paddock boots and these are by far the best when looking for warm and flexibility to ride in.

Have found these to be, by far, the best winter boots I have ever purchased. I have used them for riding, working outside, walking the dogs, and just plain general farm wear. The traction is very good and they are WARM ! The only concern is sometimes the zippers can be a bit hard to pull up.

Too short for tall people
Wish they made these in long. They are too short for my 20" lower leg. And one of the width adjusters came off the first time I put them on. Back they went. Thanks for easy returns!

Very warm and dry
I have worn these boots for long periods in the saddle as well as walking and standing, they are very comfortable. My feet were warm and dry in 10 degrees with snow. They can be too warm if its above freezing, but I think that's to be expected!

I live in Northern Michigan. I'm usually at the barn doing chores from 8am to 6pm. At first I LOVED these boots. They are warm and extremely comfortable. However after a couple weeks of using them I didn't feel like they were water proof anymore. Now when I use them they do soak through from me bringing in horses. I think they would be a nice boot to wear if you are just coming to the barn to ride. I don't think they are the best to work in all day if you have to deal with getting your feet wet. But they do have awesome arch support. The calf runs on the slim side.

Excellent boots!
I'm very pleased with these boots - extremely well made and delivers on all that is promised. I've worn them 4 to 5 times a week at my barn for the last month and they still look brand new. Very comfortable and warm even in -15 temperatures. The only negative is that the calf was a little tight at the very top at first but that is loosening up with wear. I have other Ariat boots and they've never let me down - these are no exception!

Day one: I'm in love!
The boots are awesome. Stylish, warm, very well made. I'm 5"10 and the top of the shaft comes to 2 inches below my knee. I have slim calves, but the fit is not sloppy. The entire boot is insulated but retains the sleekness needed to fit into stirrups. It's been in the low teens when I ride and my feet are super warm. The Ariat sole is supportive and the last is perfect for my narrow feet. There is some resistance in the zipper at the heel, but if you insert one finger into the boot at the zip while pulling up then it's very smooth and easy.
I have really needed some reasonable winter boots andI had been keeping an eye on these since they came out in late fall. Saw them on sale by another company for a much higher price, but SmartPak had a lower price AND free shipping to my barn. Ordered on a Wednesday and they arrived Friday.
I have gotten many compliments on them and have to say, again, wow.

Great riding boot, terrible for wet pastures...
I love these boots for walking around the barn and riding. However, when I have to go out to the wet pasture to bring my horse in, they do seep water into the foot bed. I find the tops of my toes feel the cold easily, as well. I live in Iowa. We have cold, wet winters with a lot of mud. I purchased these boots in hopes of having a great winter riding boot combined with something I could chore in that would keep my feet warm and dry. These are not cutting the warm and dry part...These are the second pair for me. I returned the first pair because they developed a hole in the side of the foot. I kept the second pair because they are a great winter riding boot; just don't plan on staying dry if you sink in the muck! Not what I would have expected from Ariat.

Finally I found them!
Have been looking for a boot that would keep me warm, that I could walk around in and that I could ride in! Granted, a tall stiff boot is better but these are so convenient and comfortable, I don't have to stop everything to change boots to ride and then change boots after I ride. Saves time too. Highly recommend.

too narrow in the toe
I tried this recently in both the 9.5 and the 10. I usually wear either of those sizes, depending on the shoe/boot, and in this boot I fit better in the 10 by far (could barely get into the 9.5). The boot was clearly good quality and is the best tall winter boot I've ever tried, but I ended up sending it back because the toe area was too narrow for my toes, even in the appropriate size. This is an issue I've had with Ariat before, although when they offer a style that has a rounded toe, I do really well with them!

Bought these boots for the cold winters and damp springs/falls. I was really excited when i got them and they are made very well with quality materials. The boot fit perfectly on my foot (i wear a size 9) but to my disappointment my calves are too muscular for me to zip the boot all the way up. I was hoping i could wear these with jeans as well but that wasn't going to happen. So i had to return them and instead i bought this boot in the paddock version. They are just as nice but i just wish i had the upper leg protection.

waterproof!
So far, so good. I find these boots comfortable enough to wear around the barn as well as in the saddle, waterproof (I took a BIG mis-step into deep mud) and warm. They clean up easily as well. I take size 11/11 1/2 and Ariat is the only boot I have tried that fits my foot. Thank you Ariat for offering my size and designing a boot with ample toe room as well. Riders sometimes do as much walking as riding and having footwear that can get you there is a must.

Good warm winter boot
As expected the Ariat footbed was correct and comfortable. Unfortunately just because I have a long leg and foot I do not have a wide calf. The upper shaft is huge so if you have a wide calf these should fit okay ... just not attractive if you have a slim leg!

Beautiful boot.
Love this boot. I have bunions and had to order a half size up. It's a classy boot and does not look like a nine and half. It keeps my feet toasty warm, great to ride in and great around town. A quality all round boot.

Returned boots
This is a handsome pair of boots and I would have loved to keep it but had to return them. The zipper was so hard to pull down that I could only get it to budge an inch on both boots. Was unable to even get the inserts out. Perhaps my arthritis added to the difficulties but my husband could not even get the zippers to work properly.

Nice versatile boot.
Mine came in the mail this morning and I have been wearing them all day to break them in. I wore the Ariat Dixie (Size 8) for years with pantsuits in court for trial because they fit my feet perfectly. High arch, nice narrow heel cup. These are loose in the heel, no arch support and tight on the instep. Size 7.5 is a little large (except for the instep) -- even very loose on the calf. I can stick my forearm down them. I will keep them and see if I can modify the arch support and find a way to make the heel cup more secure. Well made product. I would go down a size, but an afrain my very high instep might not go in. Could use more support in the ankle. We'll see how they ride tommorrow... a little pricey for a muck boot, so I hope I can revise them to my feet.

Amazing winter/barn/muck boot with style!
The boot is incredible. Ariat nailed the comfort factor not to mention the fashion and feel factor! Its a great winter time addition to any barn lover/rider! Its well versed to fit like you need for close contact, warm enough to stay comfortable and weather proof to stay dry and ward iff the muck! Its true to size and the first go to on wet and cold days (even when not at the barn).
Only con; Im a thick calved girl and the top zipper is tight.
