Great saddle!
I am very pleased with the quality of the saddle, but disappointed with the process. I got the test saddle, and it was a great fit my horse, however, there are no other saddles of that size in stock. So I will keep the test saddle. Except it came damaged. SmartPak will not give me a discount on the saddle. I'm paying the same price for a damaged saddle as I would for a brand new saddle had one been in stock.

Not for wide shoulders
I ordered this test ride saddle to try for our Welsh TB large pony. It ships very quickly (I paid for express) and SmartPak has amazing staff to help with the process. The saddle fit and finish is nice, but not the same as a custom Antares, obviously. DD11 did not like the nubuck seat and did not like the odor of the oil used. Grippy leather doesn’t appeal to hear at this stage, as she feels it restricts her in jumping. The saddle was so uncomfortable for the horse that she bolted in protest under saddle and dumped DD into the arena rail. Five minutes later, she reared up and threw her off when she mounted again. Clearly the saddle didn’t fit well and was hurting her. Not the fault of the saddle exactly, but I want buyers to be aware of the importance of saddle fit and the level of pain this can cause your horse. Never in 100 years did I see this horse doing that...but pain avoidance is a powerful drive. Please hire a saddle fitter to make sure you have what works for your horse. We are @15 test rides in (various brands) and I think we have finally found a used Antares that fits.

Beautiful saddle
This is a gorgeous saddle. Beautiful workmanship. The color is more of a rich chocolate than it appears. One of the very few that I’ve tried that fit my high withered horse. Medium firm very sticky seat. In the end I did send it back because it wasn’t quite what I was looking for. So sad.

I liked the saddle, found it reasonably comfortable. Unfortunately I had to return it as the medium tree fit like a wide tree on my thoroughbred mare.

not comfortable for me
I tried the Antares because I wanted a close contact saddle. It fit my horse okay, but I felt like a floppy fish in it and couldn't get my leg around her at all nor sit well in the saddle, nor grip. It could be because it's a new saddle and not yet broken in, but it wasn't for me. If I remember correctly, it had a weird suede seat.

Very comfortable
I test rode this saddle and liked it. I returned it for a new model and I am disappointed that it is out of stock and every time I check the "expected ship date" it keeps getting pushed back...so don't really know when I will actually get this saddle

Expensive but quality, luxury product
I didn't need an extra pad for my hard to fit OTTB. The saddle keeps my leg in place like magic and maintains the perfect seat. Love love love.

Comfortable and good quality
I ordered this as a demo saddle and will probably buy it. I liked that the leather on seat and knee roll is quite grippy, while the saddle flap is less so. I ride a variety of horses every week, so it is important that the saddle be comfortable for all of them. This saddle fit both my 13 hh pony and 16.1 hh warmblood. Also, the billets seem pliable and of good quality. The twist seemed just right for me (I'm 5'1"). The seat and underside of the saddle were quite cushion-y.

Love this saddle!
I ordered the test ride and completely fell in love. This saddle is definitely high quality and the seat is comfortable, secure and grippy! It fits my hard to fit horse very well and It came with a high quality saddle cover with a built in carrying strap as well. Best saddle I have ever ridden in!! I ordered prestige calfskin leathers to go with it and the stitching goes well with the stitching on the saddle.
