Product Overview
Zimecterin Gold is approved by the FDA to eliminate 61 species and stages of equine parasites, including tapeworms. Zimecterin Gold combines ivermectin 1.55% and praziquantel 7.75% and is safe for horses and foals over 2 months of age. Each 7.35 g tube of Zimecterin Gold treats horses up to 1,250 lb.

Adverse Reaction
I have used Zimecterin Gold for years for my horses. This month my horse experienced a very painful reaction to it. It immediately caused mouth irritation, and the horse was obviously great stress. As the situation progressed, a swelling the size of a navel orange appeared on his muzzle. Orange dots then appeared on the swollen area. The box notes that there have been rare reports of this reaction. My sister, who is a professional equine trainer has also seen this reaction. Please read the warning in "mice type" on the side of the box, and be aware of the risk.

Just Google it!
This dewormer is widely known to cause swelling, blistering, and ulcers at the injection site and in some cases worse. This product caused painful blistering on the inside of my horse's mouth and tongue. I feel terribly guilty for not researching this product more before giving it to him. Equimax is comparably priced and much safer.

Really works!
I have an older mare that stopped cleaning up her feed for no apparent reason. The vet recommended I try worming with Zimectrin Gold. I did and my mare's appetite improved almost immediately! I highly recommend this product.

I wormed two of my horses with this dewormer this morning. Both had significant swelling and ulceration on their lip where I administered the paste. Vet recommended banamine and a watchful eye... now I am guarded and worried about colic. I blame myself for not researching and taking note of the warning on the box, however I have given this dewormer in the past without incident. I have been reading threads, and apparently this is occurrence is not so rare. I would advise strongly against using this wormer.

Scary reaction to this wormer!
I wormed my senior Arab mare with Zimecterin Gold and within 15 minutes, her mouth swelled at the site where the syringe was inserted. I have used this product in the past with no reaction. There's a warning on the package and there's information on online horse forums about this reaction. Although rare, why would you want to risk it? My horse was clearly in pain although the swelling reduced within 12 hours. I do not recommend this product

Since I had a gelding diagnosed with tapeworms a few years back, I always include "Z Gold" in my worming regimen at least once a year. I don't use any other ivermectin product than "Z," Gold or regular. You simply can't beat it.

Beware! Both my horses had severe reaction!
Both my horses were dosed this afternoon and within one hour both had significant swelling inside their mouths requiring IV meds to resolve. Quick research shows this is a possible reaction. Both horses are fine and had previously had this wormer with no bad effect. I will not use it again.
