Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace of mind. I bought this for my senior gelding starting on a maintenance NSAID regimen. I like that this product has added electrolytes, along with being a GI buffer. I think it's great, simple coverage for peace of mind. He's eating the pellets easily in with his other supplements, no waste.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good I put my TB mare on this about a month ago. She has suffered from chronic ulcers and it has been quite a journey to get her healthy and pain-free. So far I like this product. The price is reasonable and she loves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product. I bought this a month ago after my horse finished up with 8 weeks of Equisure, and 30 days of Omemprazole treatment for fore and hindgutt ulcers. I wanted something affordable to support my mares gi tract on going. I chose this product due to its ingredients and price. My mare has not had a relapse and is no longer flank sensitive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product especially for the cost. I got this supplement a little over a month ago for my elderly gelding. It does seem to be helping him, however he is a bit picky and tends to leave this in his feed tub and just pick at it throughout the night instead of eating all of his grain and supplements at once.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not too impressed I added this to my filly Smart Paks hoping to regulate her digestion a bit. She has been at the trainer and getting loose stool bit after 2 months have not noticed a difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product This product was palatable for my somewhat picky horse, and it worked well to control her hind-gut acidosis, cause by the Pergolide she is required to take for her Cushing's disease. Very happy with it. I actually tried a different product the next month but will be switching back to this one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My picky pony eats it! It is typically very difficult to get my Welsh-Arab pony to eat anything different. He ate this supplement right up from the first day I fed it to him. He appears healthy and happy. His manure consistency is good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to be working I put my horses on TractGard about a month ago with the intent of keeping them hydrated as the weather cools. The mare will snub salt or electrolytes in grain so thought I would give this a try. They are also at a boarding stable where the hay switches often so the anti ulcer properties were also a consideration. No issues with palatability as even the picky eater gobbles it up. They are drinking and so far no issues. Too early to say if the other benefits have kicked in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stress Relief I am relieved knowing that I have my horses on a supplement that will help combat the fear and worry of colic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works really well, great value! My horse was prone to loose stools- we tried several things and had vet and fecal exams. We didn't really have consistent progress until adding this supplement- it took about a month, but what a difference! No loose stools ever since. Highly recommended!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome product! I have tried many things to combat my geriatric, Cushing's-afflicted, Morgan mare's hind-gut acidosis. Bio-Sponge did not work and she stopped eating it (too much powder), aloe vera juice did not help, U-7 only help somewhat and is very pricey but TractGuard seems to have done it! Even on the Pergolide, which adds to the problem, her loose stool and runny gas have pretty much resolved. Very happy with this product. Best part is that it's affordable and in pellet form, so she eats it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helpful in weight gain I purchased this product because it is advertised as a digestaid. I was not worried about ulcers in my mare, I was worried that she was not getting what she needed from her diet of beet pulp in pellet form. This is all she can eat as she is Thirty Five (35) years old. My vet agreed that hay was no longer on the menu despite the fact that she still had plenty of healthy teeth. For the past three years I have been experimenting with weight gain supplements and nothing helped. I was grasping at straws and read that TractGard helped to break down the food that they take in and assist in the absorption. Half way through our second month I began to see a difference in her body. And now four months in, she is developing what my vet calls "fatty deposits" in her bag. She is actually gaining weight as the weather gets colder. Im so relieved that she is not going to end up looking like a bag of bones. Attn SmartPak, my discipline is not listed below. I am an avid Carriage Driving Competitor and many of my carriage driving friends use SmartPak. We would love to see you add the option. :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff I About TractGard last month because my 15 yr old paint was giving issues with his stomach which caused him to have the runs. A friend of mine told me about this stuff and it works great. My horse doesn't have any stomach issues anymore. I'm very happy with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked Better than Expected! I leased out my 10 year old OTTB 16'3+ Eventer, for a couple of months. while there, he was not fed properly and dropped a considerable amount of weight, he was very dehydrated and sunk in and lethargic when I went to pick him up.My horse is a very picky drinker and is prone to tummy troubles when dehydrated (compaction colic from dry matter). Also had a history of Ulcers after being pulled off the tract. He is also extremely temperature heat sensitive, so hot humid summers hit him very hard!Started Tractgard in hopes that it would increase he thirst and possibly protect his hind gut from the irregular hay/grass feedings and over exercise (while he was away), and address any ulcers. Within 3 weeks we noticed very nice moist regular stools (more than his normal dehydrated droppings), also lots of wet spots, and he was emptying his water buckets throughout the day; way more than I have seen with regular electrolytes or salts. We have not had any tummy troubles, his attitude has improved, and he also filled out quickly and the weight is returning better than expected. All around it was an incredible recovery! This product worked better than I could ever expect, and I highly recommend it if you have a sensitive horse like I do.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No longer belly sensitive! My 20 year old TB has stomach ulcers, and was very very sensitive to the touch around his stomach. He would bite and kick if I tried to curry his stomach- but after being on this product for about 3 weeks his demeanor has greatly improved. He is much more tolerant of me grooming his stomach and seems to be in a better mood overall! He also seems to be drinking more- which is a good change for him! Its only been about a month, but I am already very happy with this product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The Jury is still out. I purchased this item in February after rescuing my OTTB from bad conditions. He was 300 lbs. underweight and very weak. I added this product after realizing he most likely had ulcer issues as well as his poor weight and body condition. He is slowly gaining weight and building up some muscle. I only gave the 3 stars since this process is slow. He is much improved but more time is needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works really well I bought this for a mare that has soft stools every winter when she gets put on hay. We'd tried different hays/feeds, but the soft/loose stools continued. We tried one scoop with minimal results. We put her on two scoops, along with a scoop of Source daily. Her stools are now normal. I have two more mares that have mild gas colic from time to time. So far, no more problems with them either. If your looking for a good product that is a little cheaper than the Smart GI, this product is for you. I've fed Smart GI, but can't afford to keep four mares on it. This is a good product..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It WORKS! Great product! Used on a paint filly that was very sensitive to changes in hay and seasonal pasture weeds and it helped greatly in firming her poop! I've also used it when our other horses have had occasional tummy upsets and it seemed to work great for them as well! No issue with getting them to eat it, either!

He has done amazing on this product. drinks alot better and eats better on the road and over all feels good. Hes a picky eater and eats this right up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Show Horses I have a mare that is in a rigorous training and showing schedule. She would be off feed the day after getting home from a show or lesson and never drank water well when we were away for the day. After treating her for gastric upset, I put her on TractGard and within a few weeks, I noticed a difference. Since being on TractGard, she has not refused a meal and seems to drink when we are away.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seeing improvement I started a young horse I am training on this product because he seems to produce a lot of gas. In the first month I can definitely see a reduction in the amount of gas being produced although he still has more than most of the other horses. We will continue to use TractGuard and track his situation for the next several months but I expect this product is doing what we need it to do.
    Date published: 2014-06-17
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! (Be mindful of dosage) I absolutely love this product. My horse went off her feed and wasn't even really eating her hay. I suspected she didn't feel good in her digestive system as she eats relatively large grain meals and is a hard keeper thoroughbred. It is vital that she eat up in order to maintain condition and health. I changed her feed to a type she likes and added this supplement. As a result she is now licking her bucket clean and has never looked better!I was drawn to this product because it contains no aluminum, which was important to me because aluminum is linked to ailments such as dementia. I also needed a pelleted product that has no apple flavoring because my horse hates apples and is a very picky eater. I liked the added electrolytes and yeast that aid digestion as well as the buffering features to reduce the acid associated with feeding grain.Be sure you are feeding the correct dosage to get results. Smartpak's maintenance dose is 1/2 scoop per grain meal or 1 scoop per day. However, the Foxden packaging states that you should begin at 1/2 scoop per grain meal and work up to 1-2 scoops as necessary. I have found that 1 whole scoop per grain meal (twice smartpak's maintenance dose) was the highly effective dose for my thoroughbred mare. I have had excellent results with this product, both increasing my horses appetite and improving her overall condition and health. Thank you Smartpak!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product! When I purchased my haflinger gelding last fall he'd just gotten done with a heavy show season and went straight to the trainer for a month of saddle training before coming to my farm. When he arrived, I noticed that he wasn't the best eater, especially with hay. His appetite, career history, and go-getter attitude made me think maybe his GI tract needed some help. After some research, I decided to try TractGard to help with King's 'nervous tummy'. Sure enough, he was feeling much better within a week of starting this product. He eats and drinks really well as long as he gets his TG everyday (I actually only feed it with dinner instead of with each meal) and it's very affordable too which is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this product for any horse but it's probably even better for those that need a little extra help due to stress.
