Tried for 4 months, didn't notice a difference
Had my OTTB on the recommended 1 scoop/day for 4 months. I know he was getting it every morning (the strips make it so easy, and his feed bucket was always empty afterward), but after 4 months of not seeing a difference, I took him off it. That was a month ago. If it would have had an impact, it would be worth the $25/month, but it didn't, so it's not (for my horse, at least).

Awesome stuff!
My mare looks amazing! Been using this for two months and she looks completely different. On top of the weight gaining benefits, her coat looks amazing! She is sooo shiny and smooth.

Hasn't Made A Difference
I have had my horse on this for over three months now hoping it would help her fill out but haven't noticed any difference at all. Pretty upsetting as I bought two containers of the three month supply because with all the good review I just assumed it would work as well at SmartPak's other supplements. My girl eats it without issue so I have no complaints in that area. But it's too much money spent to not have it work and not be able to return them.

Doesn’t work for us
My senior mare has been on this for 4 months and I’m dropping it from her smartpaks. She hasn’t gained any weight on it, if any then it’s verrryyy little. I was really hoping it would work out well, but unfortunately not. She eats it, but doesn’t really care for the taste.

It works...

Effective
This product was fed with SmartDigest, SmartSalt, and dacBloom with dacOil. Mixed with Haystack Special Blend, rolled oats, and Impact Senior feed. Free choice Barley hay.
This product works! My horse suffers from digestive issues, and has irregular stools. This product, with the combo above, is helping get things back on track. After two months, he's due for an upgrade, but SmartGain is staying!
He's a 25 year old, solid bred paint. He's 15.3HH, ad was 1500lbs in his prime (healthy and fit). He's the hardest keeper. This product brought his BCS from 3/10 to 5/10 and climbing. Looking forward to making him happy and healthy again!

Amazing product!
We received this 12 year old thoroughbred mare and among many other problems lost a lot of weight and was at the very bottom of the herd. The photo shows a 24 day difference on Smartgain- she has a long ways to go yet but just the energy level difference she has in the 24 days is huge. She has a huge heart and we are on our second round of Smartgain with no problems with her being a slightly picky eater. I would highly recommend this product! Well worth it!

Absolutely fantastic
I love that I can always count on smartpak to deliver exactly what they say and exceed my expectations! Smartgain has helped my retired senior gelding tremendously. He has always been a hard keeper, but since he's older now, it's even harder to keep weight on him. He was dropping weight before winter, and refused to eat any weight supplements I added to his feed. I saw this and thought I might as well give it a try. It has helped him gain and maintain a healthy weight for months now, he hasn't looked this good in years. He loves the taste and there is nothing ever left over in his bucket now (he was constantly leaving quite a bit of grain before I added this). I also love the added digestive support. From now on this will be my go to supplement for weight gain!

Very Happy With Product/
My Standardbred lost weight this past summer. I switched to a different feed and added oil. In October, I was still not happy with his weight. After reading reviews, I started Smart Gain in November. Within 1 month, he started gaining and now at 2 months, his topline looks great and filling in. I recommend this product for an owner to try for their thin horse.

Best weight supplement out there!
After this past summer I noticed that my 36 year old QH gelding wasn’t keeping weight on no matter what I was feeding him. When I went to the Equine Affair I spoke with one of the SmartPak reps and she recommended SmartGain and the SmartPak version of cool calories and even gave me the first month free just to see if he would even eat them because he is so picky. After 4 weeks he looked amazing! SmartPak is a great company and they are always so helpful and willing to do anything for their customers!

Horse wouldn't eat it.
I tried this for a couple of months and ended up throwing out almost all of it out of the bottom of my horse's gran bucket. He just would not eat it.

Just what I needed
I've had my horse on this for about a month and I'm already noticing a difference. He is on reduced work due to recovering from an injury, so I had cut his grain back so he wouldn't be bouncing off the walls with too much energy. The unfortunate side effect of this was that he did drop some weight, so I decided to try this supplement to see if I could get some weight back on him without having to up his grain again and cause unwanted hyperactive behavior. It worked! He's put some weight on already and his coat is shiny and dappled as well. The best part is that it didn't make him hot, which is what I was worried about. Definitely recommend.

Amazing Product
I absolutely LOVE this product!!! It has really helped my recent project pony gain much needed weight! She started out all skin and bones and this has really helped her in just the month that i have had this! If your looking for something for a hard keeper, this is definitely what you want to get!!!!

good weight builder- wish it was pelleted
My old man eats this, but I wish it were pelleted. I feed in feed bags and it gets wasted on the sides or falls through. Pellets would be wonderful.

Four weeks makes a big difference!
I bought this four weeks ago, started King my 26yr old cushingoid hard keeper on it right away with the intention to get as much weight on him as possible before our Minnesota winters hit. He had gained a little weight without it, but he’s quickly packing on the pounds with this in his regime! check out the photo. 9/28 is 4 weeks with SmartGain. This will likely be a regular on King’s Smartpaks. Also, he ate it no problem with his regular grain.

Great supplement
I originally bought this for two of my horses but one of them is a picky eater and would not touch it even if mixed with other food. This was recommended by smartpak for horses that are picky eaters so that would be my only complaint.

Great product!
I bought this for my draft cross who is 18 and has copd. I had tried everything! I come across smartpak and I’m so happy I did! He went from pretty underweight (200 lbs) to fat and happy!! So happy with this product!

Helped!
I believe this helped my gelding a good amount, I’ve been struggling to keep weight on him now that he’s working and gaining muscle he seemed thin and ribby even on grass two grain meals and all day hay. The only complaint is that my horse leaves some of it in his feeder. I mixed it with corn oil and he ate it though.

This actually works
I have a thoroughbred,ex race horse, ex eventer now broodmare that has always been a hard keeper. For the 7yrs I've had her it was like I couldn't feed her enough, tried so many different supplements with little success. I wasn't sure I would breed her this year because she just wasn't at a weight I liked. Smartgain was my next "supplement to try". I was very pleasantly surprised that after 1.5mo she went from ribby to perfect. I'm almost debating taking her off, I just have to watch that she doesn't get too fat! Nothing else was changed, just added the smartgain. I would definitely recommend over any other weight gain (and I've probably tried them all)

Works!
My 18 year old hard keeper came out of winter looking rough. He's been on this for nearly 3 months and it has made a world of difference in his weight and his coat is so shiny. I don't think he's ever looked this good. Now that he can graze all day I'm going to take him off the Smart Gain but I'm sure it will be a winter staple for us.

I've only been using this for a few weeks, so I can't tell yet whether it is working. Hopefully it helps. My horse hesitated at the first feeding of it, but after that, no problem.
