Made a big difference with my dragon...I mean mare
I tried just about every calming/ mare-tude supplement out there and this is the only one that made a difference in my mare. She is a very hot horse which caused her to spook A LOT and now that she is on this supplement she puts her energy into positive things like working really hard instead of spooking at her own shadow....or the bush....or that rock....or the horse-eating squirrel. I even took her off of it for a few weeks over the winter to see if she had just improved on her own and no longer needed the supplement and within a few days she was back spooking at everything. So I put her right back on it and she's back to her manageable happy self :)

Great taste! Tuffy eats it up.
I purchased this a month ago to help calm a gelding that I have had for 5 months. He can become very anxious and gets himself all worked up. It has really made a difference in his behavior.

really calmed my jumpy horse
My horse is a "worrier". He didn't spook a lot while being ridden, but he jumped and twitched in the crossties and when the farrier was working on him. He just always assumed something bad was going to happen. This product really stopped all that. He is calm and relaxed most of the time without seeming changed in any other way. He is not groggy or sedated acting. I would say give it a good 2 weeks to fully take effect. I cut one of the packets out for the first week to let his digestive system get used to the magnesium. He can still spook of course, but he doesn't twitch and start at every small noise or movement like before. I really recommend trying this product for the worried horse. He is a picky eater despite being a plump thing, but he will eat this product though he doesn't love it.

Seems to help
I purchased this for another horse that was moved to another stable before it arrived in the mail. Since I was stuck with it, I decided to give a half-dose to my retired horse until I finished the bag. This horse is not excessively nervous; but, as a herd leader, he is always on alert. He also has advanced arthritis. I think this supplement may be helping him feel better overall. I will not repurchase it, because I don't think it is a must for him.

So far, so good!
I took my horse off a competitor's calming supplement because the powder was getting left behind in the bucket, and the change was so drastic, I knew I had to try a different product. After about 3 weeks of SmartCalm Ultra Pellets. I'm starting to see him become less reactive under saddle (again).

My horse became aggressive
I started using the Smartpak Ultra calm for my horse when going to lessons as he does not trailer well. I felt it took care of 75% of the nervousness, he still could get quick and or Buck if pushed. When he was recovering from an injury and I was moving him to an indoor facility for the winter I thought I was doing him a great service by putting him on the daily pellets.After 2 weeks on it he bit my arm while I was tacking him up. I am not sure who was more surprised but he won't do that ever again. Then I noticed a steady increase in his aggression. I did not associate it to the Smartcalm Ultra until after a month on it he became jumpy, would spook at nothing , noise sensitive and would stare down at me. Both under saddle and lunging he would squeal and buck. The more I worked him the worse it got. I had my Vet check him, my husband who is a horse trainer ride him. I finally stopped the Smartcalm and contacted Smartpak. I am giving a 2 star rating as after several back and forth emails I was given store credit for the 2 months worth I had received. The initial suggestion was I keep him on it to see if he would settle. I flat out told them I would not. THen after the store credit I was offered time to speak to their team. I gave several time frames that I could be reached so far no calls. not even an email. I also researched L Tryptophan it does not have either great studies or results. Basically it either did not work, showed marginal calming or caused excitability. There are also some human studies that show it can cause blurred vision and or Hallucinations. My horse has been off it for almost a week. By Day 4 he was his normal self. Quiet (when in familiar surroundings) and sweet. I swore to him I would never again put him on a so called calming supplement.! Be aware it took me several weeks to figure out what was happening to my horse. I would hate to see someone give up on their horse because of a strange reaction to a supplement

Not for my large pony mare
I wanted to try this for my new rescued pony mare.
I was on it for a month when the last couple of weeks she got aggressive towards me in her stall.
I gave her a couple of days to chill, but this is the only thing that has changed in her regular day to day. Being a large pony I think it’s too much for her system.
She does still get her Smart Mare supplements and back to the calming cookies.

Trailer Pounding
I rated five stars because, after six weeks, my Arab cross gelding is FINALLY calmer in the trailer. Not perfect, but better. I have tried everything else; boots, bangles, etc. etc. and nothing has helped. Today he shuffled back and forth on his front feet, but only pounded a couple of times and actually stopped long enough to eat some of the hay in front of him when we arrived home. Usually he is ready to bolt. That is an improvement for this boy. I adopted him from a horse rescue after his being removed from his owner by law enforcement, so he is an unusual case.

This product works
I spoke with Smartpak about what my needs and expectations were regarding a calming product, I had the opposite problem most show horse owners have, my horse was being a real comedian at home during lessons and practice, cutting up and getting distracted by the other horses in the group, he loves to horse show but seems to think practice is beneath him kind of attitude. Smartpak recommended the Smartcalm and I added it to my auto ship. Its been about a month now and he acts 100% better during the lessons and practice, he stays focused and we can actually learn new things without him acting like he knows it all.

So far, seems to be helping.
I started my "Type Triple A" mare on this product a few weeks ago. At competitions especially, she tries so hard that it sometimes gets in her way and causes tension. I recently had her at a very large competition, and she was the most relaxed she's ever been at a competition, and yet still had her performance spark.

Does seem to help
I have noticed some difference with my spooky boy on these pellets: he will still startle at things he sees (or thinks he sees) but he comes down much more quickly instead of continuing to wind himself up. Also very palatable, he scarfs them down without a second thought.

Seems to be helping
I started my mare on this to see if it would help. Before I did this I treated her for ulcers and made sure there was nothing else that would be causing the behavior we were seeing. Spent years letting her ‘grow up in the mind’ not pushing too hard, trying different training ideas. Finally I decided to try the calming supplement before the horse or I got hurt. She has been on it just over 30 days and I’m happy to say I have seen much improvement. She is more focused and so far no rearing and bolting. We will try competing again in the spring and see if it helps on that end, if not I’m glad to keep her as a nice trail horse.

Did nothing for my gelding
I've had my gelding on this product for about a year now in Smartpaks and will be removing this from his strip as soon as my next order ships. Unfortunately, he tore his SDFT in late December of 2018, and due to the layup I did not want to take him off of a supplement like this in case it was actually doing something. I did not think it was, but did not feel that it was the time to find out. He is now doing much better and back in somewhat regular work, so I feel comfortable taking him off of these now. Pros: Smartpak strips are easy to feed with, delivery has been prompt and problem free, and he has no issues eating the product.

It works!
My new gelding could not settle in. He was dangerous at times, hand walking or in saddle he was nervous, unable to focused, easily spooked, rearing, bucking, trying to run off. I gave him a different supplement that helped somewhat. But he needed something more. I have always trusted Smartpak supplements and decided to try the Smart Calm Ultra. It helps him be less anxious, more focused and present to start training. After using this for about three weeks he is totally different. Thank you again Smart Pak.

This supplement really works
My mare has horrible heat cycles, she's just miserable and bezerk. After trying hormones (fail) I decided that she needed to be spayed, but figured I'd give your supplements a try first (love the money back guarantee, by the way). I freely admit I'm pretty skeptical about health claims of supplements in general. About 6 months ago, we tried a herbal supplement and found out quick she's allergic to herbs. The consultant suggested a nutrient based supplement, so I started her on SmartCalm, which has some effect, but not quite what I was looking for. So I switched over to SmartCalm Ultra about 3 months ago. Wow!!! I went from needing to spay her to a summer where I can't tell when she comes in heat. It's been amazing!! Added benefits are a less skittish horse under saddle and an overall much more relaxed and comfortable horse. Can't say enough good things about this product.

Calmed down my old guy!
I decided to retire my show horse and bring him back to our house to enjoy being a pasture ornament for his last years. When we got him home, he literally lost his mind and would pace back and forth in his stall non-stop. This is a horse that had been hauled all over the place his entire life to show, and I am thinking the change in routine (he had never really been on any pasture, especially with any friends) just caused him to have a bit of anxiety. I ordered his supplement for him and within a week of taking it, he was back to his old self. I fed him the rest of the bag, but did not continue as he was back to himself and began really enjoying his retirement. I would encourage you to consider this if you know you have a stressful event coming, to help get on top of the nerves and stress! It's not just for 24/7 hot horses!

Does what it says it does!!!
It has been one month since my Arab gelding, Everest, was introduced to SmartCalm Ultra. This supplement is a game changer for us. Everest is 6, and can be hot and anxious. I noticed within the first week on SmartCalm, he was friendlier, more focused, and less reactive.

Works like a charm!
So glad i found this product for my mare. Her anxiety was terrible especially off the farm and a month into this product I have a different horse. She’s sharp and energetic but the stressing and separation anxiety is nearly gone. Great product !
