Swear by this stuff!
I have a thoroughbred who loathes anything with wings. I put him on it in March and have him on it until about November (we live in the South--you never know what the temperatures or flies are going to do!). I absolutely LOVE what it does to his coat...it especially helps him look extra sleek/handsome as his summer coat comes in. He has a total different attitude when the flies keep their distance and I consider this my secret weapon.

I think it helped!
So last year I bought this for my mare who is SUPER sensitive about flies and would go nuts in the field and be covered in welts and stuff. It definitely seemed to help. This year our flies were way worse and I can't say i noticed her having a force field around her or anything but she did still seem to not get as many welts.

Some benefits
Poco is always a favorite for bugs. He was on this from February (a month or more before bugs start appearing in NC). He was still eaten up by bugs throughout the summer. :-( I think it was a bit less than without the supplement, but he still suffered a good bit. He was the bugs' favorite in the paddock (over the other horses). He also continued to react and swell up with bites, although perhaps not as much as without the supplement. I think I will try the Smart Itch-Ease next summer.

Not blown-away with the results
I started my mare on this in March, hoping to get ahead of the fly issue. We board at a HUGE facility, so the flies are always a nightmare. I can't really say I saw a difference. The flies ate her up as much as the next horse. I will say she's an annoyingly picky eater and gobbled this up!

Smart Bug. Off Ultra really works!
I had used Simplfly . The boarding facility wasn't diligent about feeding the SmartPaks.
Towards the end of August, flies.were lined up in rows all over my pony. Most fly sprays didn't help. I restarted my pony on Smart Bug Off and within a few days I saw a difference!

insurance against bites
truthfully, not sure how much this helps to prevent or deter bug bites but I figure every little bit helps so I have continued to feed my minis the SmartBug off ultra pellets all summer, along with good practices to minimize insects/flies in the stall and pasture. I do feel that even with the tropical humidity and heat we've had this summer that the flies arn't quite as bad as they could be

Great Product
I have been using this product for one year, we have added DAILY to their feed smart bug-off and and simplifly since the summer 2017, this second summer season I have seen them healthier than ever and they have no eye infections due to flies or are even bothered by them flying around. It takes time for the supplement to work at its best, so be patient and consistent. I go to other barns and see how other horses suffer with the flies and fly mask and my horses are not bothered and they do not even need the fly mask.

So impressed with this product!!!
I have been using this product since early spring. My horse was rated on a scale of 1 to 10 for bug problems as a four . This product has allowed me to cut way back on other products. I also use a good-quality bug sheet and neck cover and have pretty much eliminated the issue. So thankful I tried this. It does stink though ha ha

Made no difference
I have a dainty OTTB who cannot STAND to have a fly on him. So I really hoped this would help keep the flies off him!
Sadly, it made no difference at all. I started it before fly season, hoping to build it up to full efficiency before I needed it, but I never saw any difference in the flies on my horse versus his friends. Nor did that change when I ran out of this supplement and stopped feeding it.
But no big deal, right? SmartPak stands behind their supplements, right? As they say, "SmartSupplementsTM are Guaranteed to Work"!
Nope. Called for a refund and was told that the guarantee only applies if you order it in SmartPaks, not in the tub. I've had poor luck overall with SP customer service, so I can't say I'm surprised -- just disappointed.

Noticed a difference with the flies
Definitely noticed a difference this summer with the flies overall. Of course I don't expect to deter every single fly, but we've seemed to have noticeably less flies this summer and I have done nothing different from last year to deter them, aside form hanging a fly trap jar. I think the diatomaceous earth in it is what may have helped with that, since it's supposed to deter insect breeding in manure. Will definitely be interested to see if I have the same results next summer!

Love It! Works Great!
My poor yearling filly got hundreds of bug bites and ticks on her this summer when it heated up and the drought got worse. Started her on Smart Bug Off Ultra. The bug bites have healed and the ticks are gone. Night and day difference for her. Put my other horses back on it as well. Flies bugging the horses are down to a minimum.

I love this product
I have been using the smartbug pellets for 3 years now this year I switched to the smartbug ultra. I have learned it is best to start it before the bug season so this year I ordered my smartpaks February and started them in March. I found they do work better at repelling flies for my Arab it took a little longer for it to work on my heavier Nokota. Since I have used this product I no longer worry about ticks (have not pulled a tick off my Arab in 2 yrs) or insect allergic reactions. I can definitely see the difference between horses and my boarders horses who aren't on this product..
I would 100% recommend this product be sure start it early, have patience the longer you use it the better it works. You will be pleased with the results

I've used garlic for my horses and dogs for many years. I appreciate the formula and that my horses enjoy it! Nothing seems to get wasted in the wind or on the ground. My dogs love to steal a few pellets, too!

This works so well keeping the big population down with your barn, your property, your home and your horses can actually not feel like they are font fighting bugs off constantly

Does not work on my horse . He has extreme sensitivity to all bugs that love horses and I notice no difference since using this product...sorry I sure wish it did.

No flies!
I didn’t really know what to expect, but I was really pleased to see almost zero activity in the manure. It really takes away a lot of the unpleasantness of picking during fly season. The only down side is that the odor is really strong. I wasn’t sure my horses would eat it, but they don’t seem to mind. Makes their breath a little smelly for a while though, haha!

It worked!
For two summers my horse developed increasing sensitivity to bug bites and more of her body covered in hives and wheals. Despite fly sheets, masks, boots and constant spray, the situation worsened. Before resorting to prescription medication, I gave Bug Off Ultra a try last summer. After a couple days, the horse got used to the flavor. BOU calmed her allergic reactions to almost nothing for the rest of the summer. I've got Bug Off Ultra on autoship for this summer. Give it a try, it may work for you too.

Not effective
I used regular Bug Off and Bug Off Ultra for several years before realizing that I needed something stronger. Horses with insect allergies, sweet itch, etc. where I board do not respond to these supplements. Do some research, and you will find better alternatives -- not cures -- but more effective control.

Garlic odor but the horses love it
Started using it a couple weeks ago as the bugs will be coming out in April here. Anxious to see the results. I wasn't sure if the horses would eat it because of the strong garlic odor but they gobble it up. Thank you so much.

Finally Something That Works!
We use this for our donkey. She will not let us spray her with anything. We bought her late in her life out of a bad situation and she obviously has trust issues. We had tried many supplements to keep flies off of her. But, she continued to get chewed up year after year. I mean literally areas of her legs covered in flies producing raw flesh. This stuff has been amazing. It took a bit to build up in her system. But, it works! So nice having the auto refill. Don't have to worry about running out. Also, love the daily packets. So easy and the cups are recyclable.

Definetly helps
I've used this during past summers, but I usually started it in the Spring before the flies got too bad. I always wondered if it really worked because I still ended up using fly spray anyway. This year I decided to go without it. The flies have been really bad because of the mild winter and a lot of rain. My one horse is super sensitive and would run all over the pasture and in and out of his stall until he was dripping wet with sweat trying to get away from the flies. I still have to use fly spray on him, but since starting him on this about a month ago he's now able to graze and be outside without issue so I definitely know this supplement helps.
