lovely product
I bought this product because my horse is adjusting to a new environment and can be very spooky and worked up. He isn't outright ballistic but just very hyper alert, and given the situation, I did not think it was fair to sedate him with injections but wanted something to soothe him a bit. For me, this product works quite well. I agree with some of the other reviews that the wafers have a peculiar scent to them, and I also agree that they must not be absolutely delicious. My horse eats everything (if you offer him a banana, he will try to eat the skin in addition to the banana), but he isn't dying to eat the wafers. It is easy to get him to actually take it, I just put it in his bucket with a bit of grain or a few carrots... but his reaction to just taking the wafer as a sole treat from my hand makes me think he doesn't love the taste.
Compared to giving your horse oral Ace or IV tranquilizers, this will actually not mess with how motivated to work the horse is. In my case, my horse gets very lazy with tranquilizers, queasy and heavy. I don't want him to have any of these effects. I was just looking for something that slightly takes off the edge when my horse is scared, neighing and peaking into every direction. For this purpose, the wafers work great. I give my horse 1 wafer around 1 hour before a ride and he seems to relax quite a bit about 45 minutes after taking the wafer. I can tell this by him being less fidgety on the cross ties, by him dropping his sheath while getting groomed on the cross ties and just by his eyes softening and being less hyper alert. I would definitely recommend this product for spooky/nervous horses. I think expectations have to be fair, so this will not sedate your horse or change their personality, and one should expect that no wafer could possibly work such wonders. For taking the edge off, I think they are perfect. It is also nice that they just contain Magnesium and Tryptophan as their active ingredient, so they wont create any dependency or addiction.
Overall a great product, with a kind of weird smell, and probably also a weird taste.

My Horse Would Not Eat Them
I bought these to see if they would take the edge of the horses that are a bit high strung but none of them would not eat them- except for the ponies which do not need to be calmed. I have not tried putting them in grain but as a treat they were a no-go.

Always Good Results
I've used these with numerous horses, which always liked them, and had good results.
And no waste, no dropped pellets, with the "cookie" form--it's a treat to them. I usually just feed one, only feed two when stressful event like moving the horse is going to happen. I recommend feeding them 1-2 hours in advance.

I starting using these 3 months ago for my new Rescue Mare. They help and work great with her mare supplements.

Great results!
I have 5 horses and I admit that for some these are "an acquired taste," however, I have seen good results in all of my horses. Most notable is the effect on my young Belgian cross. Two biscuits every day enables him to stay focused on training, makes him more yielding to my queues (less bullheaded), and he's happier (less buddy-sour) when we hack out alone. Two biscuits every day for my mature, yet high-strung, mare makes her less anxious when we're tacking up and more calm during our warm-ups, which just makes everything else go better and increases her overall happiness. In addition to SmartDigest Ultra, I give my 3 y.o. Lusitano 2+ biscuits daily while he's in full training and coming under saddle, to ensure he is protected from the effects of stress and will remain focused during these life-changing times. Overall I prefer to not use tryptophan for calming (although it is a good amino acid for muscle recovery), but the other ingredients in Kalm wafers (B1, Ashwagandah, magnesium, etc.) are effective for helping my horses be less stressed and make good decisions. And my trainer likes the easy to feed cookie format.

Horse that eats everything wouldn’t eat these
I tried these for the first time about 10 years ago and since they claim to have been new and improved, I tried them again and I got the exact same results I did 10 years ago. Horse doesn’t like them and will only eat them if soaked and mixed with something. Didn’t have any calming effect. Still spooky and nervous.

My mare loves them!
I do believe these help my anxious Morgan mare to calm down some. The day I did not feed - she spooked and spun and I was on the ground! Contrary to what others say about them being hard to feed-- my mare loves them, and will readily take them right out of my hand!

Didn't work
I bought these for my horse that has been getting anxious on trail rides and amped up in the arena and becomes difficult to handle. The recommended dosage was 2 treats and that didn't do anything. I noticed a slight difference with three treats but he decided he didn't like them that much and started turning his nose up to them. Now I just have half a bag of treats he won't eat

Hard ti feed, but works well
Horses don't like the taste. I put a cookie they like in front of it and then they will eat them. They do like calm wafers flavored peppermint. Eat those up easily. Wish you would carry the peppermint flavored calming wafers. My very reactive spooky horse does very well with these. I only use riding 5 and pre horse shoeing.they work well.

so so
As other reviewers noted with their horses, my mare would not eat them out of hand. I had to crumble them up and mix them in her late night feed. She is acting sleep deprived and I was hoping the tryptophan in these would help her relax at night, but I didn't notice any change over the month that she had them.

Horse won't eat them
I had high hopes for this product, especially for the price. The treats are bigger than I expected, and very hard and dry. My horse refuses to eat them. I even tried covering them in molasses (his very favorite thing) but he spit them out and looked at me like I was trying to poison him. He's not usually picky about treats but he certainly made his feelings known on this one. :(

Works quite well!
I bought these about two weeks ago thinking they would help my tense and anxious thoroughbred. I have definitely noticed a difference on the ground, he isn't worried about the little things anymore. He is still tense and anxious undersaddle, but I'm definitely going to wait a bit longer before I make any decisions. The product seemed reasonably priced for the ingredients. My horse is a picky eater and he gobbles these right up!
