EO-3™ is a DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acid supplement that balances the modern horse’s omega-3 intake. Kentucky Equine Research developed EO-3™ from a sustainable source of menhaden fish oil in order to provide a direct source of bioavailable DHA and EPA in a palatable minty-apple flavor. EO-3 undergoes advanced distillation and includes a research-proven flavor to create a highly palatable product suitable for all horses. Marine-derived long-chain fatty acids DHA and EPA are more efficiently used as precursors of local hormones than plant-based sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

I have 3 horses, one of which suffers from seasonal allergies (hives, runny eyes, etc.) I was using a wonderful (but expensive) DHA based supplement to control his hives. It worked better than I ever expected it to, and I quickly realized that I wanted all 3 of my horses supplemented with marine-based Omega-3's for their general health and well being. KER's EO-3 oil has been the best option I've found to get a sizeable amount of DHA/EPA into their diets without adding a ton of extra calories-- it cuts to the chase with exactly what I want them to have. The product does not overtly smell like 'fish oil.' It has a fresh, light, fruity/minty scent, and all 3 of my horses eat it in their feed, no problem. If you're looking for a concentrated, bioavailable Omega-3 supplement, I would definitely give EO-3 a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Missy from Reduced Airway Inflammation I bought this based on a completed study for airway inflammation in horses and that omega 3s could significantly reduce that inflammation. Before using this, my horse would be wheezing/heavily breathing within minutes of starting a ride. Within 3 days there was a drastic improvement with her breathing. Absolutely amazing. She is also an incredibly picky eater and will eat around any supplement and will eat this.

They are on pasture with high quality grass hay and a general nutritional supplement. At the advice of a KER nutritionist, I added Nano-E and EO-3 to one horse that had an existing wound. Within 60 hours I am noticing a visual difference in healing speed. I will continue to monitor and report back.I am feeding using a large syringe in the mouth, so that none goes wasted. The gelding likes the taste, no dribbling or refusing to swallow.

Rated 3 out of 5 by evergreenhorse from Really want my horse to eat it I have been slowly adding 1/8-1/4 oz to my horse's grain for two weeks. He's continually refused to eat any more than that. Supposedly, this is a minty-apple scent, but to my nose it does seem to smell more like cherry-bubblegum (to be fair, it definitely doesn't smell off-putting to me). I'm really hoping to be able to get him to eat more over time, because unfortunately I don't think 1/4 oz is going to have much of an effect on a 1600lb horse. Definitely beware if you have a known picky eater.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MichelleG from Great source of EPA/DHA I was feeding my pregnant mare welactin to support both her and her foals health (particularly foals brain health). Welactin was out of stock so started looking at other options and realized as long as I got the larger size of EO3, it was more cost effective anyway. Colt also gets it now. Both gobble it up.
