No Appreciable Change
I have had 2 of mine on this for over a month and it has not caused a gain. In fact, they have lost. I am going to try Smart Gain. It has improved another of my hard keepers. It did seem to taste good to the horses, though.

Works for my OTTB
My OTTB is a bit of a hard keeper and is a picky eater. We tested Cool Calories 100, and she ate it, so we added it to her Smartpaks. It works as advertised. She has maintained her weight without heating up, and continues to eat it. Exactly what we needed.

Love it!
Just started my thoroughbred mare on cool calories and it is not only helping her gain weight but her coat looks amazing! She also loves to eat it. She is a barrel horse and cool calories is the perfect addition to her diet to keep her going strong!!

Bikini Body Killer.
I've used this product on my 21 yr old hyper-model TB gelding for over two years and I swear by it. First things first, my guy is the type that drops 100lbs if you sneeze at him. New horse in the pasture? Minus 50lbs. A butterfly flapped its wings in Paris? Buh-bye 80lbs. OMG Farrier day? Let me just look half-starved today, you get the idea, he's a hard keeper. This product has helped me single-handedly thwart his aspirations to be the horsey version of Kate Moss. I feed him the full dosage in Smartpaks and also sprinkle another scoop liberally on his favorite night time snack, warm soaked beetpulp. He holds weight nicely without me adding a bunch of bulk to his feed for him to get through, his coat is shiny and dappled. Definitely worth its weight in gold, wine and cheese.

Works wonders!
I love Cool Calories, they work miracles. After 2 weeks of using this on my mare who started to lose weight in the winter months, she gained the weight right back. Recommend this to everyone!

I don't understand this product and have concerns.
The product smells good. It looks like sugar. However, it falls to the bottom of pelleted feed and I can't figure out how to make it "stick" instead of form a pile in her feed container. Molasses is not an option because my old mare won't eat feed with molasses in it. I tried to mix it in hot water, and it floated on the top. I thought fat softens with the heat. More to my unease, after I poured the warm water in her feed from the measuring cup I had used, the residue stuck so hard in the cup that I couldn't remove it with my fingernail and it the dried residue on the counter stuck like Elmer's glue and had to be pried off with a spatula. Today I boiled water in the measuring cup and the residue finally dissolved and washed down the drain. I am also concerned about the "partially hydrogenated oil" as the main ingredient.

Visible results!

I have used Cool calories
before for my older OTTB. He did well on this product. I must say the it is so easy to use now that it is included with the Smartpak delivery . No more baggies but still the great result.
Prince is just recovering from surgery. He stood in a stall for 2 weeks. Due to Guttural Pouch Mycosis he was not able to swallow properly. He lost weigh as well as muscle tone. Cool Calories is just the ticket for an OTTB that needs to gain weight but not be high!

Helped put weight on my senior TB
My 16 year old TB mare has been in Cool Calories for 4 months and it has helped her gain back the weight she lost last winter. I still had to combine Cool Calories with straight oil in her feed to really see a difference, and she was still really skinny up until the last month. I think without Cool Calories she would have been even skinnier, so I do think the supplement helped her weight gain. She was about 100 pounds underweight when I put her on the supplement in August.

Lives it and doing it's job!
My horse has been on this for 6 weeks now. No other changes in his care and he has gained nicely. He tends to lose over the winter and he is maintaining so far. He is also quite picky but he gobbles this right up!

I've been feeding this daily to a 22-yr old horse who has started to not keep his weight (after being heavy his whole life). This is a very safe and effective way to keep weight on a horse; plus he's a picky eater but loves this. His weight went up and remained stable, even through last winter

Great Product!
I LOVE this product. We ride at an A circuit showing Hunter Jumper barn and this is our go to product for horses that need help keeping weight on but not necessarily more energy! Horses love the taste. We call it frosting when we throw it in their feed :)

Even my picky eater is fine with this product.
I am seeing my horse pick up weight with only a month's worth of the supplement. He is a picky eater but has not turned his nose up at this product which is a good thing. Glad there are products available to help older horses gain weight.

Great way to add weight without changing feed
Performed exactly as hoped. My favorite thing about this product is that I can top dress it over normal feed so I can adjust it to any horse without needing special feed and saves on grain rations. Horses love this stuff and it only takes a few days for them to acquire the taste. Used on two year old to help her gain some muscle and in three months she looks strong and filled out. Just started an older underweight horse on it and is showing great results. This stuff is way better than WeightBuilder which no one would eat.

I have my pony on Cool Calories. I had been adding corn oil to his feed to add calories but when it got cold out, the oil thickened and when hot out, it would get rancid. A friend told me about Cool Calories and I have been using it ever since. My pony is " insulin resistant" so I can"t add carbohydrates. Cool Calories helps me keep weight on the little guy.

Not a "cool" calorie source
I started my OTTB on Cool Calories in hopes of filling in his ribs and hips without extra energy. It did add some weight in just three weeks (yay!). But he has become a nervous wreck (booo!). He's usually fairly mellow and easy to handle. Since starting this, he's become spooky, flighty, and over-reactive. Once removed, he's getting back to his old, calm, self.

Love everything but the increasing price!
Maintains my hard keeper Tb well, but the price for the 35-lb bag has skyrocketed in the last year. It went from $75 to $85 to $107. While I love Smartpak's customer service, I will unfortunately have to go to TSC for this product now.

Helping my OTTB gain weight!
This has been helping my OTTB so much with gaining weight! The vet says he looks great and should be at the perfect weight in about a month, I've noticed a healthier coat but not healthier hooves. My only complaint is that it's extremely hard to get my horse to eat the supplement sometimes. I have to practically shove it into his mouth at times. But he has gotten used to the taste so it's not nearly as hard to make him eat it.

Safe, effective way to add fat to horse's diet
I added this to my mare's SmartPaks about 6 weeks ago and am seeing excellent results. She's quickly putting back on weight lost over our hard winter, without losing her focus and sensibility. She's a fairly young QH Appx in daily work. She tends to be a hard keeper, especially during the winter months. Other feed additives I've tried in previous years, to help weight gain, have not produced such good results.

cool calories not so cool for my horse
My horse did not like cool calories. It was too many calories too soon. He had trembling too much nervous energy. Alfalfa was a better choice for him.

Excellent for my senior horse
This was purchased for my 36 year old mare. She was always on the fat side but within a couple of years she lost a lot of weight. In just couple of week I could see a BIG improvement.

Maybe adds a little weight
I have had my mare on this supplement for about 2 months now and it is working okay. She has definitely put on some weight, but not much more than she would have just from some extra grain and hay (which she also gets). It has not made her hot at all which is great since she is an OTTB so that part is nice! Her stool was a little runny for the first few doses until she got used to it so prepare for that and dont panic - it goes away! All in all this is a good supplement if you want to add a bit of extra weight - but dont expect it to do too much more than just extra rations. I also started out with half doses for the first 2 weeks to help with the tummy adjustment.
