Great for the price
I ended up returning this helmet because it just didn’t fit my head, but I wish it did! It is very light and airy. Perfect for warm weather riding. I also like the added protection on for the back of the head.

Poor fit. Box arrived damaged
I was needing a new helmet, and the great reviews convinced me on this one. I found the sizing to be confusing as I am a 7 1/8 or a L in most helmets, but the measuring chart put me between a L and XL. I decided to follow the head circumference measurement, and when the helmet arrived, it was enormous. I also have a more oval head, and while there was contact on the front and back of my head, there were huge gaps on the sides. It also stuck out a good inch from each side of my head, giving the dreaded mushroom head look. While the helmet looked great when off my head, the box was dented in the corner when it arrived. I returned due to poor fit.

I bought this helmet for my son. I'm not usually a fan of the look of Tipperary helmets but it looked good on him and seems to be made well. It came with extra pads to help fit it but they weren't needed. He says it is very comfortable and it was a good price, especially since helmets need to be replaced every 5 years or after falls.

Safe and Cool
This is my third Tipperary helmet. I took a nasty fall in my last one and even though it looked fine, I decided to replace it. I really believe that this helmet saved my head. Not only do I feel as safe as possible wearing it, my Tipperary helmet lets the most air in to keep my head to keep me cool.

Great Helmet!
I have unfortunately been in two horse related accidents wearing this helmet. By the Grace of God and this helmet my head was protected. Their 2 yr accident replacement policy is fantastic, just be sure to register online upon delivery and keep your receipt. It is comfortable, lightweight and allows air flow so it's not hot. Two thumbs up!

Nice helmet, but too narrow for me
This would have been the 3rd Tipperary Sportage I’ve owned. My husband and my daughter wear them too, but this new one is much too narrow for my head. I’m really disappointed. It’s a really nice helmet. It just doesn’t fit me.

Love it
I really like this helmet. I just order second one (to replace previous due to age), and still love it. I tried a few others, but they either didn’t fit or I didn’t like them as much. This helmet offers great fit (I have round head), it is very comfortable with great ventilation - it is not hot in summer, while not cold in winter. And I like extra protection in the back. I like how it looks on my head too.

Very light!
I bought this helmet after borrowing my daughters. It is very light weight and comfortable. I will be honest I am 52 and I have never owned or worn a helmet before, so to go from never having worn one to saying this is so comfy I forget I have it on is really something!
Plus we just noticed there is a large reflective strip on the back which is very bright at night. My daughters noticed this while riding last night. While I have only had my helmet a short while my daughter has had hers for well over a year and it is still great!

Comfortable, attractive, and great fit
I bought this helmet for my son who is 9. It's a good looking helmet with plenty of options for adjusting fit with the foam inserts that come with it. It seems to be slightly more oval shaped - a little tighter on the sides of the head than other helmets we tried, but it still works great for his head. My favorite part about it is how far down it comes in the back. It means my son can't push the front way up over his forehead like he tends to do with other helmets, so he is definitely getting better protection with the Tipperary Sportage. I'm so glad we got this helmet and will definitely purchase another whenever we're ready for a replacement.

Safe safe safe
I've used this helmet multiple times for multiple years while on OTTB off the track/re train for eventing and had multiple occasions where I had a fall with back head hit. Full coverage on the back. Never had a concussion, never had a headache, never even slowed me down. I have nice show helmets but completely trust this as my day to day "always" helmet especially with the air flow in the Texas heat.

Great cost effective helmet.
This is my third Tippperary Sportage, It's comfortable and in hot weather I like the air vents. The only downside with this particular helmet is I'm having trouble getting the chin strap adjusted properly.

Great Schooling Helmet
I bought this to replace a very old Troxel schooling helmet. It's a lot better looking than my old, clunky white helmet. It's really comfortable and I like how the padding can be adjusted to improve the fit. It's secure and much cooler than other helmets I tried. It also has more coverage on the back of my head. I like the fact that I can remove some of the padding to make room for a thin beanie when riding in cold weather. As a bonus, my big helmet visor fits right over the visor attached to the hard had. It's a good combo.

Like the new one even better than the old
Just replaced my old Sportage since it was seven years old and has taken a few hard knocks. The new sizing and pads make for a better fit than the previous model, it has bigger vents and seems less bulky overall. Really pleased, can’t wait to put it to the test!

Bought one a year ago, recently I had an accident on my horse barrel racing. If I wasn't wearing my helmet I'm not sure if I would be here to type this. Ordered my replacement helmet after this incident. Tipperary offers a 2 year reduced price replacement warranty if you have an accident. Be sure to register your helmet as soon as you get it! Love this helmet and highly recommend it!!

I purchased the Sportage after trying on a friend’s helmet. It’s a small and it fits correctly and is lighter than my last helmet. The vents help with air circulation.

Lightweight, looks good!
We all know that helmets are as helmets are. We wear them for head protection first, appearance second. When fitted correctly, the helmet should not fall off your head when you bend over (learned that one from a jumping instructor.) The most important helmet is the one that you will wear, and the Sportage is a good choice. VERY lightweight, great for summer riding. It's made to fit your head and you can change the padding around a bit. For instance, my head is a little more oval, not round, so this helmet puts a hair too much pressure on the front and back of my head. But because the padding can be moved, I can make it fit just perfect. That's how close you can get the fit of this helmet. It's great!

I love my new helmet. So comfortable
Almost wore it home. Forgot it was on my head. Now, that's comfortable! The fit was right on per the measurement guide when ordered. Good ventilation. I am very happy with my new helmet. I hope I never "need" it but will be glad to have it on if I ever do. I am 62, female & just got my horse last Fall, or should I say Autumn as to not jinx myself. :)

Very comfortable and fits my head well.
I bought this helmet about a month ago to wear for the summer months. I moved from upstate NY to NC where I have to adjust to the humidity. I think this helmet will more comfortable and cooler than my older helmet.

Great for Larger Heads (or bigger hairstyles)!
I recently had an ethnic braiding hairstyle done and was told my regular helmet would fit over it. It didn’t, and I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to find a helmet that fit my head for my upcoming rated show. All of the other large/extra large helmets I researched were over $400...I started to lose hope...until I tried this helmet. In XL, it had no problem fitting my head and hairstyle, all at a reasonable price! With a little finer adjustments with the padding, it fit perfectly! I am so glad I gave this a try!

I've had one of these for years. My horse tripped and fell on me and it saved my life 8 years ago. I am a repeat customer for this helmet - it is all I will ever ride in! I am in the southeast, so it is HOT, but I never have an issue with this helmet. It is like I'm not even wearing one, but know that I will be safe in it!

Finally - a schooling helmet that fits.
My purple helmet!
When Troxel changed their retention/fitting system a few years ago, the Dakota helmet no longer fit. Plus, I have never been able to wear a dial-fit in any brand.
The Tipperary Sportage, through the use of movable padding, is a perfect fit for my size 6 1/2 head.
Most importantly in S. Louisiana, it's cool!
