Rated 4 out of 5 by from great boot but... After replacing half chaps every year and needing new paddock boots now, I decided this year to switch to tall boots for schooling. My trainer tried these and loves them so I ordered a pair for myself. I have the MH Supreme High Riders for shows and love them, so I ordered the same size in the Richmond (7 regular). Unfortunately, I was swimming in the foot and the calf height was a smidge too short. Because of the limited sizing available, I could not size down (the 6 does not come in a tall calf and the regular calf was going to be way too short). I know I have small feet for my height, but the Supremes fit great with heel lifts so I assumed the Richmond sizing would be comparable. I ended up with a pair of Tredstep Donatellos which I love and they come in a wider range of sizes. The only reason for my 4 star rating instead of 5 is the lack of available sizes. The leather quality is great and looks like it will hold up well and it is a nice looking boot. Be advised that the foot runs large when ordering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great starter boot This is my first pair of Field Boots and I am very pleased so far. Only had them a few weeks. Had trouble finding a wide enough calf to go with my short legs and these are working out just right. Very supple leather. No blisters so far! I wear a 7.5 in shoes and other types of boots. I ordered a 7 in these and they have plenty of space for a thicker sock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lovely boot for a great price I've had these boots for a couple weeks and they're doing great! I've only worn them a few times so far but they're breaking in nicely and starting to drop. I still need them to drop about a half inch but it looks like they will. The zippers and elastic were a bit stiff to begin with but they get easier to deal with each time I wear them, so I think it's just a matter of waiting for them to break in properly. Some reviewers have said they've had trouble with the soles if they don't have the stirrup pads that go with them, but I haven't had a problem with them at all (and I just have regular stirrup pads). Overall, these are attractive boots for a great price and I'm very satisfied with them. They seem to be well made and the leather quality is good.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice boot but zippers an issue I bought these boots two years ago after a search for a wide calf boot. They look lovely and fit well but I had an immediate issue with one of the zippers not wanting to stay up. The other zipper blew out after 2 years of fairly light use. A good option for wide calves, but I was so disappointed they didn't last longer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful boots So I was in love with these boots for quite awhile before ordering. I was SO excited when they arrived! They were stunning, and the leather quality is high. A very attractive boot with an awesome sole.Bad news? They didn't fit. =( They are super slim through the area right above the ankle, and even though I fit the measurements, they wouldn't even zip. Even if they had, they would have been too short, and the Longs would have been way too small on my calves. I'm still giving them a good rating because they were absolutely beautiful!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent for Wide Calves I have 17" calves and a size 6-6 1/2 feet, and a normal height calf. This poses a huge problem for me trying to find boots; riding and otherwise! I decided against the FF brand, because I don't find the accordion stretch panel to be as professional looking. The size chart said that the size 7's fit up to 16 7/8', so I decided to try them out. They run a little narrow in the foot, but THEY ZIPPED. They took 7-8 rides and several awkward trips to the grocery store to really break in, but now I can hardly ride in paddocks and half chaps now. I like the slight stiffness side-to-side, as I tend to pronate my ankle. I might have to buy a second pair to keep nice for showing, because I want to ride in them every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally tall boots that fit I have never been able to find tall boots that fit me correctly, as I have short lower legs and wide, basketball player calves. Thanks to the staff at SmartPak, I am now in these Mtn Horse Richmond Field boots. Both the foot and the calf fit great, and the quality of the boot is what I would expect from a much more expensive choice. Still breaking them in, but thrilled with the purchase so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from still stretching I can't wait to ride in these boots. They seem very well made, and the foot part is quite comfortable. Unfortunately, I am still wearing them around the house and sponging them with alcohol to stretch out the legs and break down the ankles to the point where I can bend my knees in them. These boots have the largest calf measurement of any I could find except the Fuller Fillies boots, which I have- those don't seem very durable so I'm keeping them for dress use. I was hoping these would be good everyday schooling boots, but it still takes a helper and a shoehorn to zip them up. When I look around at my riding friends, I certainly don't have the biggest or the shortest legs- why must boot companies insist that we should all be tall & skinny? We need more *actual* full calf boots on the market!
