    M. Toulouse Marielle +4 Monoflap Saddle is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome! I am 15 years old pay for all my own tack, equipment and board for my horse so as you can imagine this was a huge purchase for me! Right off the bat it was a wonderful saddle though, I had never ridden in a monoflap but I event and I definitely need a close contact feel for my horse this saddle is awesome. Right out of the box the leather was soft, supple and took oil very nicely. I was not a fan of the color so I darkened it a teeny bit with neatsfoot oil and it looks great. The first day I rode in it the girth was a bit too big so I didn't jump but even on the flat I felt very secure. I am prone to ending up in a horrid chair seat but with this saddle I rode better than I ever have! As soon as I found a good girth me and my mare went x-country schooling... WOW! My jumping was fabulous, my mare was awesome and totally responsive. The leather was grippy but not tacky and it was so much fun! My mare is a 2007 OTTB and she can be hard to fit with virtually no withers and a short back but this saddle was perfect. She does have a sensitive back so I use either my trainers ogilvy or a fleece pad when jumping... In the long run I reccomend this saddle to anybody and everybody. It is durable, beautiful and comfy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised At This Price Point I've had this saddle since February I believe. A few years back I'd splurged on my dream saddle - a Prestige Event Saddle- but upon using it day to day found it was a horrible fit for me. I sold it and have been gun shy about spending that much money ever since (I'm also super frugal by nature). I've made due for the past year in a 40 year old Stubben Sieg I scrounged up so I figured it was time to bite that bullet.I had been debating a saddle that actually fit me for many years and knew based on test riding basically that I needed a forward flap. This was a saddle I was going to do a test ride in from SmartPak, but I wandered into my local tack shop and they had this in stock and in my seat size on a fluke. I sat in it and it felt great. The shop lady convinced me to test ride it and after him hawing about it, I did. I tried it on my 15.2 QHish type horse and it rode great at the house despite the 26" dressage girth I used not even touching her sides. That weekend I found the smallest possible girth I could find locally (a 24") and took the saddle cross country for about 3 hours. We jumped everything from Green as Grass jumps to Beginner Novice (green horse) and honestly I've never ridden in something that worked so well for me - I really didn't have to think about my lower body position at all and could just focus on my horse. The 24" girth was still too big for my 15.2h mare so I ordered a 20" pony dressage girth from an obscure website and that works great. I use this saddle on my 13.2h pony (stocky and round with some withers), 14.2h APHA paint mare (rounder medium body no withers), my 15.2h QHish mare (decent but reasonable withers but round -side to side- girth), and my 17h APHA HUS bred gelding (shoulders, reasonable withers, deep - up and down- girth). The saddle fits them all within what I consider an acceptable range and my guys move out great in it. Currently I use the saddle for my flat work and jumping, but I'm going to move to a dressage saddle as soon as my credit card recovers from the schooling show season. Flat work is doable in this saddle and that was the only thing I had to get adjusted to. Jumping in this saddle was a piece of cake for me and I've jumped up to 3' in it at this point. It is very secure, grippy without holding you in place. It is wearing fine and breaking in quickly. I clean it regularly with a conditioner/cleaner that I found recommended in many places and I'm diligent about checking out all the seams each ride as I've heard its best to keep an eye on this saddle. For the price point, I can do tack checks :) Also, hopefully this helps the taller/larger rider as I couldn't find any review that was truly helpful when I was saddle searching for amazon women. I am 5'9" and my hip to knee is 20", knee to ankle bone is 21". My butt is rather rotund with my upper body being fitter. The 18" saddle seat fits me fine without feeling like I'm lost in it or about to ooze out the sides. If I have a complain/concern it would be with some of the stitching. When I got it (it had obviously been test ridden before me), I was concerned about some of the stitching on the underside of the saddle. It doesn't look like a stitch issue, but perhaps just some extra thread. There are a few small "sloppy" details like this but something has to give for this price point and I haven't seen these threads loosen or move in any way.Finding a girth was annoying as well. The 26" girth I had will in no way fit my 17h boy even (he's 1270lbs as of last month). He fits ok in the 24" girth with the girth on the second holes from the top on both sides. The 24" girth barely fits my 15.2 mare (she's almost 1100lbs) and is normally loose by the end of the ride; I can pull it about 2-3inches from her side once everything is warmed up and she's sweaty. The 20" wintec girth I found barely fits my 14.2 mare in this saddle. So basically the billets are REALLY long on this puppy.Happy saddle hunting!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good saddle for eventing beginner I am a fan of the Toulouse brand. This saddle is great for someone starting eventing, however, I need a bit more durable saddle with a deeper seat. (Just my preference) the 4 plus option is a plus if you need a more forward flap.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK Knockoff but Missed the Mark on Key Features I love my borrowed cwd monoflap and was intrigued by this lower price knockoff. Side by side, they have a lot of the same great features. Despite the trial size being too small for me, I felt that it still put me in a good place for x-country riding (a little deeper and farther back) and the flaps were nice and forward for my long legs. The seat is not quite as soft (nor is the leather) but for $4K less, it's still pretty good. The M tree is wide and low...this definitely would not work on a high-wither horse. My horse fits a M/MW and this still seemed generous. Also there is a lot of padding under the cantle which may be pushing the front down a bit...might be fixable with a professional fitting. With all these factors, I'd still consider buying the saddle...if it were not for the billets. This is where they really missed the mark. There is a nylon web material that runs between the flap and up under the seat. The leather billets are then stitched onto this, below the flap. Might be ok with thicker webbing, but this is really thin (I think you could cut through it with a pair of dull scissors) and you could see on the trial saddle that the holes made by the stitches were already starting to expand. If they made the billet strap one piece, or at least all leather, and charged a few hundred more for it, this would be a really great saddle. As is, I'm going to keep looking.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from comfy, but didn't fit This saddle was very comfortable, but bridged on my horse. Not only that, but I thought part of the reason for the monoflap was to have the girth straps run under the flap and spread the pressure... the girth on this saddle just connects to the end of the flap. Hmmm.. I do have another toulouse on order, though. I think they otherwise make great saddles!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saddle so far I purchased this saddle for my 15 year old daughter. She's 5 ft 5 in tall, but has a long femur, so was thrilled to be able to get the forward flap model. The saddle is really pretty to look at - the leather has a nice color and texture, and the overall design is great. It really puts her in a great position on her horse (15 hh TB/QH/Mustang/Perch mix). It is much easier for her to stay balanced and out of the saddle in galloping and jumping positions (she was formerly in a Circuit jumping saddle). We got the 24" girth with it which fits, but next time will get a 22" (it's hard to find a brown girth for a monoflap!). Only remaining question is long term durability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it!!! I love this saddle! When I first got this saddle i Hated it, but once i stoped fighting the saddle with my bad posture i loved it! the saddle gently reminds your body to put your heal, hip and shoulders in line with eachother but dose not put you so up right that you cant go in to two point. its easy to clean more than a year old and still looks brand new. This saddle fits my t/b's great! I have the Med.
