The Ride With Me app is designed to track your motion while it is open and set to monitor your ride. It should also alert your designated emergency contacts if it hasn’t detected any movement over a period of time and you do not cancel an alert.

Unfortunately, while we have worked very hard to make the app reliable and easy to use, IT IS NOT A FAILSAFE EMERGENCY ALERTING SERVICE. There are still many reasons why Ride With Me may not perform its intended function, and here are just a few of them:

• The app may not be running or you may not have set it to monitor your ride
• You may not have entered emergency contacts or your contacts may not have confirmed their willingness to be an emergency contact.
• Your phone’s wireless and internet connection may not be functioning properly, whether due to poor or no signal strength, network outages or other reasons
• Your contacts’ wireless and internet connection may not be functioning properly for similar reasons
• Your contacts’ phones may not be turned on, your contacts may not be near or paying attention to their phones or their phones may not be operating properly
• Your contacts may not perform their agreed alerting responsibilities
• Your phone’s GPS device may not be on or working appropriately to monitor your movement, including because of software problems, satellite issues, physical obstructions of signal or other reasons
• The app may not work properly on your particular phone for many reasons—it has been tested on many devices, but not all
• Like all software, the app may crash, freeze, or generally fail at any time. For example, due to a software glitch the app may “think” you are moving when you actually are not. The app itself also relies on a number of third-party services that may also fail for any number of reasons and without notice.
• A fall or dropped phone may damage or otherwise interfere with proper function of your phone, its wireless and internet connections, its GPS device or the app
• And so on—again, this is only a partial list!

THE BOTTOM LINE: THE APP IS NOT A FAILSAFE EMERGENCY ALERTING SERVICE. ALWAYS TELL SOMEONE WHERE YOU ARE RIDING AND WHEN YOU’LL BE BACK, AND RIDE WITH A BUDDY IF YOU CAN! AND ALWAYS RIDE RESPONSIBLY!
