SmartPaker (Sophie) SmartTherapy LED Light Pad Review
Looking for Support
As a horse owner, I'm always looking for ways to help my horses feel their best and recover comfortably from injuries or soreness. When I first learned about LED light therapy for horses, I was excited to try it for myself. With one of my horses recovering from skin issues and an infection, and another dealing with a hind leg injury, I was especially interested in seeing whether this type of technology could support their recovery. That’s what led me to try the SmartTherapy LED Light Pad and incorporate it into my horses’ current care routine.
SmartTherapy Light Product
The SmartTherapy LED Light Pad is designed as a portable equine therapy device that uses targeted light wavelengths to support a horse’s natural recovery processes. The pad delivers both red light (660 nm) and near-infrared light (850 nm), which are commonly used in light therapy to penetrate different tissue depths. Red light focuses on the surface layers of the skin, while near-infrared light reaches deeper into muscles and soft tissues. Together, these wavelengths may help stimulate circulation and cellular activity, which can support muscle recovery, joint mobility, and wound healing in horses.
Designed with the barn in mind, the pad is compact, flexible, and easy to position on different areas of a horse’s body. It contains hundreds of LED chips and includes a built-in 15-minute timer, helping ensure consistent treatment sessions without needing to monitor the clock. The device runs on a rechargeable battery, allowing it to be used in the stall, grooming area, or barn aisle. Because it’s so portable, it was easy to incorporate into my daily barn routine.
Use for My Horses
My mare is currently recovering from scratches and cellulitis, while my senior gelding injured his right hind leg, so both currently have areas where this type of therapy might be beneficial. Adding the pad into our routine felt like a simple way to explore whether this technology could help support their recovery and overall comfort.
After using the SmartTherapy LED Light Pad consistently for a couple of weeks, I’ve been really encouraged by what I’m seeing. On my mare, I can visibly notice improvements in the condition of the skin on her leg as she continues recovering from scratches and cellulitis. It’s been reassuring to have an additional therapy option to support the healing process. With my senior gelding, I’ve been applying the pad above the hock area where his injury is, and I feel good about the progress he’s making in his rehabilitation and overall comfort.
Personal Takeaways
Moving forward, I can see this becoming a useful tool in my regular barn routine. In addition to using it during recovery, I would also consider using the pad after a particularly hard workout or as my horses begin easing back into work after time off. Having a non-invasive therapy option that can help support muscle recovery and circulation makes it a practical addition to everyday horse care.
