Instructions for Use:
To get the best out of your Medical Hoof Boot:
  • Do not use boot while horse is being ridden.
  • Please measure accurately, as incorrect sizing can result in damage to the boot.
  • Do not use the Medical Hoof Boot in place of an overreach boot to prevent shoe loss.
  • An overreach boot should be used to cover the Medical Hoof Boot on both front and hind hooves; this will protect both the horse and boot from damage. We recommend Woof Wear’s Kevlar Overreach Boot or Pro Overreach Boot.

We expect the boot to last 2-3 weeks under normal circumstances with many customers finding they last much longer. The boot is not indestructible and is not guaranteed against breakage due to the horse standing on the boot.
Sizing
2 (95-103 mm), 3 (104-112 mm), 4 (113-121 mm),  5 (122-130 mm),  6 (131-139 mm)

*Measure the width of your horse's hoof at the widest point, with or without a shoe.

Woof Wear Medical Boot is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from The boot was a great idea in theory but didn’t last two weeks the zipper pulled away from the bottom of the boot.. The horse was kept stalled and light turnout where she only walked and she is so neat so no rough stuff I really expected the design to hold up but it didn’t back to vet wrap and duck tape, wasn’t worth the money, I was hoping for a boot that for the money could be a boot that would be kept for treatment purposes...very disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hoof protection It is easy to use for keeping hoof medications in place

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It tore apart within 24 hours of wear I put it on my horse to protect a puncture wound she had in her sole, and within 24 hours it was torn. I had been using the Cloud, which worked really well, and I thought I would try this boot. It did not work. I returned it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boot! I bought these to keep my senior, abscess-prone pony's feet dry when she's out in the pasture. They are very soft and fit well, so I don't worry about them slipping or turning and causing her to trip. They fit her wide pony feet well and I love things that are easy to clean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice boot My horse is abscess prone. I think this boot will be really helpful. I have a 17 hand 1450 LB OTTB. Ordered a 5 and had to return it for a 6.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Had high hopes Used this on a horse on stall rest for 2 weeks. The horse was wearing a shoe with additional wrapping under this boot. I took it off once a day to address wounds and re wrap. The boot lasted 1 week to the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use for turnout with extra protection I have a horse with an abscesses that has travelled up the hoof and out of the coronet band. I had to find a boot that could keep the wound clean while it healed. I purchased the Woof Wear Medical Boot. I decided to wrap the boot as if he was not wearing a boot. After treating the hoof per my vet; I decided to put duck tape on the sole of the boot, vet wrap the boot, and then duck tape the sole/boot over the vet wrap. The wound has remained clean, his hoof is growing out, my horse goes out daily with his herd and now, that he is healing, he can be lightly worked. I do take my horse out of the boot whenever I can ( daily if possible) to make sure his hoof can dry. I have 2 boots I swap out. I throw the used boot in the wash to clean and then air dry it. I am going a month with he same boot. He is a happy camper and so am I!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fit, great quality I'm using these for a horse with really bad feet. They are great. I got a size 5 that leaves just enough room for an animalintech pad and I packed my horses frogs with a sole pack. I've been battling with these feet for weeks. After 2 days of this regime my horse is so much happier and feeling better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fabulous Boot, terrible quality! I bought numerous sizes of these boots for various horses, and all of them, within 5 uses, have completely worn through the underside of the toe. I am super bummed because these boots are everything I had hoped for! Excellent fit, relatively easy to put on, seemingly good quality (although the zipper did try to give out on one the first day!) AND the tender footed horses I used them on were totally happy to move out in them... now, I understand these are not designed for heavy riding or extensive wear, but I expected at least a few months of wear before they gave out... my horses literally wore them for 30 minutes per session in a soft sand arena, and they blew out through the sole wayyy too easily. I am experimenting with "re-sole" techniques (dipping them in a harder rubber compound) and will update this review when I have results that you can use, but for now, I have to say don't buy these unless you are ONLY using them in the stall for injury protection... and for that, the old diaper/vetwrap trick is way more cost effective! Also, as a side note, the hoof tends to "sweat" inside these boots, and makes them seem softer after only a couple of wears... kind of nice if you are about to do a trim, but otherwise I wish they had a bit more breathability... (And, just in case the manufacturer gets to read this somehow- please upgrade the zippers- I can see that easily becoming the next failure point... or add a flap of velcro that relieves the sideways strain on the zipper during use... THIS BOOT IS SO CLOSE TO PREFECT! PLEASE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THIS MODEL INTO TRUE PERFECTION!!!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had a good experience with these boots - My barefoot horse suffered a divot/bruised sole in the front. I bought two because I put him on stall rest until he was fully healed and I wanted him balanced in front. I have a full/time (and then some) job, and I was able to go out and give him plenty of light exercise time without having to spend time wrapping. For my situation, the time saved wrapping Animalintex pads was tremendous. I just placed the cut-out in the appropriate boot. I would use the boots again in a heartbeat. The boots held up very well for stall rest, longing, some free longing, and a few days of turnout. I following the hoof measuring directions closely. One thing I did notice is that the boots hold moisture and get damp. I placed my set in the dryer on air dry and gave his feet the night off every couple/few days, and I made sure his feet were dry each night before putting the boots back on. If this sounds like it was work compared to wrapping, I sure did not think so. I was so thankful for the boots. After use, they also cleaned up beautifully with cold water and a little Dawn.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fit like a wetsuit I ordered the size measured, but couldn't get foot into it as it is like putting on a wetsuit. I sent it back and got one size bigger. By the time I got it back, I already had a shoe back on the foot. I haven't been able to test it yet. May want to order one size up to help with being able to put it on. Looks like it will really help keep foot clean in an abscess or cut type situation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from These boots last as long as they say (2 weeks of straight wear) and were fairly durable for my horse. However, they are incredibly difficult to get on! Mine lasted about 4 months of on and off wear- turnout and stall rest- with a barefoot horse.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, needs improvement These boots look so enticing -- easy to put on, lightweight, snug fit, etc. And they do fit nice and close, they are easy to do with the zipper, and they are lightweight. But, they are not durable enough to withstand longer (1hr+) turnout, playful horses, or a foot with a shoe in the boot. If you think your horse will play and carry on, sedate it, or put bellboots over these boots and check back frequently. A friend used this boot on a horse that had a shoe on the foot but had a raw abscess spot in the toe and wanted some protection for light turnout. The horse wasn't notably excited, but the shoe in the boot was too much and he sheared the sole from the neoprene. This boot would work best to cover a problem foot in a stall, but at that point, I'd rather just wrap it. And it would serve you for hand walking or light, supervised turnout, probably. For anything more, you'd be better off getting a SoftRide or something meant to withstand the weight of horse moving across terrain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! This product does exactly what is advertised to do - it is a medical boot designed to keep poultices and dressings in place. It's not for long turnout times, it even says that on the box. If you have a horse who is going to run and play, I don't think this is for you. However, it has many other benefits. Its been great for treating my horse's abscess and keeping the mud and dirt off with the high zip up design (I'm able to do small paddock with supervised turnout). It's very stretchy neoprene reminds me of a wet suit so I do recommend measuring carefully for a snug fit. For the intended purposes, it works well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted one day I bought this from another retailer because I needed a larger size. Was super excited to use the boot on a horse with an abscess and was initially thrilled with the fit and protection. The boot didn't last 24 hours before it was torn open. For over $50, I expected much better quality
