Vetrolin Liniment Gel is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from ALLERGIC TO IT!!!! I like it okay on the horse's legs if you're going to ride and then turn them back out, but I WAS EXTREMELY ALLERGIC TO IT!!!!!! By the time I had done two legs, I had to go scrub my hands, arms, and face with soap, and I was still very red and itchy. When grooming for someone, they had to do it themselves, and it was just extremely inconvenient. I think that you can use other liniments that aren't so harsh on you as a owner/rider.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Oh NO! Used this product and soon after had considerable swelling, redness, irritation of hands and arms . Luckily, horse seems ok, but I will never use again.... Would appreciate knowing what the allergic agent is, as several others have reported similar reactions

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful I like this product as I am able to give my mare's muscles some relief after a hard workout even when it is to cold to use the traditional Vetrolin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Help for sore legs I have used this product for about 5 months to prevent leg soreness on days when my horses have had strong workouts. No wraps are required for it to work and it is much easier to clean off than poultices, which I used to use. It stays on well because of the gel form.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality for a Great Price I'm always looking for an economical liniment for my older horses. This does the job better than I ever expected it to! I will warn that it is very strong and I use latex gloves when applying. I've used it on my 20 year old arthritic horse and he seems to really enjoy it. After jumping 3'9" with my 18 year old horse I used it and his legs looked better than they ever have the next day. Also recently had a horse's leg swell up slightly, two days of this liniment and wrapping and its back to normal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very easy to use What a brilliant idea to make liniment in a gel form! It's so easy to use and no more dumping the whole bottle while trying to rub down legs! I did panic the first few times I used this because it caused me to break out in hives. Apparently I'm sensitive to this but no other liniment I've ever tried.... I love the gel idea but I'm not convinced it really works all that well. After getting it on my bare hands, I can say that it does get cold, but I never experienced the heat sensation that most other liniments give. I'm not sure I will use this again unless I specifically want the cooling only. I think it would be great for a post-workout rub-down on a super hot day, but that's not what I wanted it for. I think I prefer the regular Vetrolin liniment and this does seem a bit pricey for a small bottle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong- but works well I almost always rub down my horse after a hard ride or show, so I have pretty much tried every type of linament. This is my favorite, and yes it does make my skin burn, and turn red so I just use latex gloves. at first my horse didn't like it and he would stamp his feet but after a few times using it, he has gotten used to it and I actually think he likes it. I actually feel like this kind works the best, it's strong enough to actually have an effect on your horse. I have noticed that my horse hasn't been stiff at all the day after a hard ride and it really helps him cool down. The only thing is that I think it's a bit expensive for the small-ish amount in each bottle, but it's worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Get Formula I'm a huge fan of gel liniment because I feel it really gets to the problem and sticks. Great under tack or on the legs after a ride. Wonderful product, and I really recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I prefer Vetrolin I recently tried the Absorbine Liniment Gel after using Vetrolin in the past. The Absorbine spearmint scent is over powering! I felt like I had gum in my mouth and nose! I also got some on my hand and didn't notice anything. When I have gotten Vetrolin on my hand, I notice a warmth from it. I have switched back to Vetrolin for good. Our mare moves to guide the application. LOL Seems to make her back and hips feel good and I put a little on her legs after a workout to keep them tight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick, Easy, and Painless I love this product! After a long day eventing or foxhunting, I can just squirt out some gel, rub down my horse's legs, and be done! No mess like the poultices, and this has that wonderful Vetrolin smell. The best feature -- this actually works!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ouch I've only used this product twice and ended up with bright red, swollen blotches all over my skin wherever the liniment touched. I even scratched my forehead after wiping my hands and got hives there as well. I like for liniment to feel a little "icy-hot", but this felt terrible and it's not something I want to use on my horse. if she'll feel the same way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pros and Cons I have a 10 year old Junior/AO jumper and even though he is still fairly young I noticed he was getting slight windpuffs on his hind ankles after we would have a hard ride. I got this product to try to help keep his legs cool, comfortable and sound and to help decrease the windpuffs on his ankles. It worked great and I noticed a difference in his legs, especially with the swelling. If nothing else, it gives me more peace of mind knowing that I have done something to try to help my horse, whether it actually worked or not! However, the only drawback in my mind and the only reason I would try a different but similar product is that it seems a little strong. After I apply it to my legs it burns my hands, even if i wash them off immediately with soap and water. It burns for probably 20 min. and sometimes it even makes my arms break out in hives. I tried applying with latex gloves but that was just a pain. Also, there have been a few occasions when I have put it on my horse and he has begun stamping his legs so I worry sometimes that it burns him too. But the results are great, so it's a little give and take.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One and only product needed I use this with great results in the reduction of swelling and stiffness in the horses. Also, Ive never had it burn or irritate their skin as other products have. I like that the gel has MSM... I take it everywhere my horses go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vetrolin Liniment Gel This is the first time I have used this product and I really like it. I have been using Absor. for years and I like this because it is more of a true gel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like it! I really like this product. My mare and I recently had an accident where she slipped and we both went down. That night she had started to swell on her right front leg. I immediately put this on and I think that has what has helped her to not swell very much. This happened three days ago and the swelling is all ready starting to go down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great liniment I really love Vetrolin products, so this gel liniment is perfect for me. No mess, but it is potent. Very little is needed. Great for shows, long trailer rides, clinics... I really love the smell too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me. I will agree with By Happy(and still alive!) horseowner on this one. This product made me have a serious allergic reaction I had hives ALL over my body along with red blotches. My arms and hands swelled to the point were it spread up my body and I almost had to use my epipen. Ive always used it with gloves but for the first time today I didnt, I honestly would not recommended this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unexpected Reaction I've been using Vetrolin products for YEARS and have always had good luck and have loved them, however I was extremely surprised when I used this product - the outside of my hands got bright red, irritated and burned (more than just typical tingling/warming that linaments produce) and even slightly swollen when I used this product directly on my mare's legs after a workout. I've never had a reaction to any liniment product ever before and have used all types. My mare, that I wouldn't consider sensitive, became very agitated and started stomping and kicking as well. I immediately tried washing the product off. I didn't want to waste the product so now I just make sure to put some in a bucket and dilute it with water. But for me and my horse, we can only use this product from now on if it's diluted otherwise I get the same reaction.
    Date published: 2009-07-17
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the product for me! I wish I could tell you how well this actually works for my horse, but I only used it one time. I used it one time only because I had a pretty bad reaction to it. My hands swelled and turned bright red. It was pretty painful, and I had been careful to wash my hands repeatedly immediately after using it. I had NEVER had a reaction to any product like that, ever. It seems like it should be a good product ingredient-wise, but I would be afraid to ever try it again, even with gloves....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy Horse! After my horse fell on top of me in a freak accident, I was more worried about him then myself. I got back on him and walk/trotted a little to get my confidence back up. I was worried he would be sore the next morning as he is not in shape. I applied the Vetrolin Liniment to his legs and the next morning, I saw no signs of stiffness or swelling, he was good to go!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this stuff! I buy bottles of this liniment in packs of 10! I go thru it very fast (especially in the summer). It helps sore muscles and tired legs! I put it on after hard work-outs and long show days!
