Love them!
I'm hard to fit for half chaps, but these are as perfect as they're going to get without going custom! They're a bit difficult to do up at the bottom snap, but that's my only complaint. I wear them with the Tredstep Giotto paddock boots and they just look so good!

Best Chaps Ever!!!
I absolutely love Tredstep's Deluxe Half Chaps. It is the only half chaps I will wear!!
When you measure for your size, just know that the first couple of times you put them on, you will need someone to help, because of the stretch panel being brand new! Once on, they provide a sleek & snug fit, so you can feel the contact with your horse. Love them!!!

i attempted to buy the chaps 3times lol. they ran small the first two times and the last pair was too baggy. they just didn't work for me. the staff however was wonderful trying to accomodate me.

Perfect fit-once you find the right size
I had a tough time with finding my right size so I had to send a couple of pairs back. I ended up getting the length an inch longer than I measure, and the calf a size smaller than I measured to give a tailored fit. I would try measure the calf and pull the tape kind of tight around it to get your correct size; the first few times I measured a 15 but when I pulled the tape tight I measured a 14 and the 14 is the right fit for me in the calf. They were very tight the first few times I put them on, it helped to attach twine to the zipper so you really have something to grab onto when you're trying to get the zipper down. The stretch panel will stretch around your leg, bit it needs a bit of leverage the first few times. I have ridden in them about a handful of times and they have stretched already-enough for the zipper to go down easy, and I'm sure they still have more stretching to go. The half chap looks great and doesn't bunch at the ankle like a lot of half chaps tend to do. Overall, I am happy with my buy and hope they hold up well.

Have Some Patience
I am 5'4, medium length and sized calves and 115 lbs - I ordered 14/15 and they fit perfectly. BUT! You must have some patience with these chaps because in the beginning, it felt like they were IMPOSSIBLE to zip up (or actually zip down) and you might feel like they run very small. It took about a week for them to zip down without feeling like you're going to pinch your skin...and it took a few rides before you can comfortably zip them down. And now...after many many months, I can zip them down with ease! So when you're ordering, measure per the instructions and order those exact measurements. You will think they don't fit at first, but trust me, they will! I'm glad my patience stayed with me because I love these half chaps a lot!
They come out of the box very supple and overtime they become form-fitting. The only complaint I have is the threading - they came apart/loose very soon. Although my chaps are still very much intact, it bothers me to see loose threads hanging out (mainly towards the top of the chaps by the top button). Occasionally the buttons take a lot of strength to unbutton and it feels like I'm tearing the button out.
The zipper isn't as heavy duty as it sounds in the description, but if you're careful you shouldn't have any problems with durability.
I would recommend these half chaps! They're comfortable, look great and easy to maintain!

Very disappointed
I have always highly recommended tredstep to friends but will no longer. They have changed the quality of their products. I got these chaps at the end of March. By the end of April they were very stretched out and would spin around my leg while riding. The leather even started to rip. Within two weeks of having the chaps the "leather" around the bottom button was starting to rip as well. Over all the quality of their products is not what it used to be. My last pair of tredsteps lasted 3 years. Very frustrating! What is more frustrating is that Tredstep won't get back to me or the tack store I purchased them through to rectify the issue. Very disappointed.

Good Value - Wish size selection was clearer
Nice looking chap - fits well once you get the right size. Be careful to select the circumference as the FIRST number followed by the height. I needed 17/15, and accidentally ordered 15/17. It is a good thing smartpak returns are easy!

Excellent Product
I love these half chaps. I have had them for a year now and they fit great. The stretch panel is a really nice feature. They are easy to clean, I just rub them down when I clean my saddle. My only complaint is the leather on the side that contacts the saddle is starting to really show some wear and I need a new pair before the year is over. I had hoped for them to last more than a year and a half.

Love these half chaps
I'm tall and was able to get an exellent fit due to availability of multiple sizes in leg length and calf width. Easy to zip down. The leather is supple. They fit like a glove. Have only had them for a few months, so not sure about durability.

Tredstep Deluxe Half Chaps
I really like the look of this style, with snaps at the top and bottom. The leather is quite supple, and the stretchy panel really does help them fit nicely without being too bulky or too tight. I am a little concerned about the zipper track, as it's made of plastic, but so far I haven't had a problem. And sadly, even though Ireland is associated with the Tredstep name, they are actually made in India. Hopefully I will get a few years use out of them.

Good fit
Like commented below, you'll definitely need a friend to help you get these on the first 2 times you wear them, after it's been great.
So far can't really speak on durability, only have had for a couple of months, but has been good so far.
The only annoying thing is spurs are hard to go on a little, but I do have that trouble with all 1/2 chaps

Very nice half chaps
For everyday schooling, I prefer half chaps to save my more expensive tall boots. (My last few pairs of half chaps have been Ariats-also great, but the snaps seem to break before too long). According to other reviews of this product, the snaps can also be an issue with these as well....so I did take to heart somebody's suggestion to use a little oil on the snaps, so they don't stick so tight. I have wide calves, but these fit great from the get-go. They are extremely comfortable and look great! In fact, they fit about as well as custom would (amazing with my conformation)! As to durability, I cannot really comment yet since I've only had them about a month. The only thing that might improve them is to have a tad more padding or depth of leather on the area which has contact with the tack (as Ariat's do). However, there is more "feel". They fit great with my Ariat paddocks and match. If these last awhile, they will likely be my go-to brand to replace in the future.

I really like these half chaps. They are true to size and the leather is nice. The other reviews are correct that the bottom buttons stick and are hard to get off. I just don't use them. I still like these more than any other half chaps I ever had.

Worth the money
I bought these half chaps about 4 months ago and I love them. My old half chaps were synthetic and looking ratty so I decided to splurge for the nicer ones. I have very short calfs so I really appreciated all of the sizing options. I could barely get them on when I bought them but after a month or so they stretched out and now they fit like a glove. They are very grippy and look great with my Tredstep paddock boots. They are super easy to clean and the leather is worth the money. I'm so glad I bought them!

Great chaps for tiny legs
My 10 year old needed chaps for a better grip on her horse, but her calves are SO thin, we had a hard time finding chaps that were small enough but also tall enough. She's thin AND tall! The Tredstep chaps fit her great. They're just starting to wear in and stretch a little which makes them fit like a glove. We'd definitely buy these again, even given the higher price.

Durable Chaps!
I've had these for the past 5 or so years. They finally started to rip a little along the seam at the heel. Tried a new version of these and the G2 ones and ended up going with the others, but these are still great chaps.
My main "complaint" was that the part over the top of the boots in the front is a little bit big, so wearing spurs over them isn't as tidy as with the G2 ones. But I wore them for 5 years & just put my spurs under the chaps - not a big deal (unless I wanted to remove the spurs while riding).
Overall, these are nice looking, durable chaps.

Hey, my nickname was decided in a moment of silliness. Makes me laugh every stinkin time I see it. I know it dashes my credibility, but I can't seem to change it. Sorry, readers.
Anyway, I ordered according to my measurements but the calf was waaay big, exchanged for the nearest available size down but SmartPak accidentally sent the dyslexic version of my size which was very disproportioned.. Couldn't be bothered to try again. They were very nice though.

Love Tred Step
I have always worn the suede TredStep half chaps. I tried the fancier leather chaps that zip up the back and hated them. SmartPak was great about letting me return them and suggested I try these. These are a great fit although they did stretch a lot. They are easy to put on and look very nice. I ride a lot of different horses in many different saddles and these feel great, not slippery at all.

Love these 1/2 Chaps
I'm very happy with these 1/2 chaps. The only reason I gave them a 4 star on durability is because I don't really know yet. I've only had them for a few weeks. I do love that they are very supple and fit very well. They mold to my leg. They look really great too.

Great Chaps for the price!
These chaps were recommended to me by a friend after my (much more expensive) custom half-chaps became too stretched out and I love them! I prefer their stretch leather panel over the custom leather that I had become accustomed to - they fit like a glove no matter what I wear under them! I've been schooling in them regularly for 3 months now and they still look brand new. I did order an extra 1" taller than my leg measures, which improved the already awesome fit. I'd definitely recommend these!!

These half chaps follow the typical Tredstep fitting process of 'make sure you have a buddy around to help you get them on for a week.' But once you get them a little broken in they are quite comfortable and professional looking.

Nice Half Chap
I really like these half chaps. They are good quality leather but they have that stretchy element to them that is really nice. The bottom button on each half chap does stick a little so I have been leaving them undone and only fasten them when it is necessary. I can't really rate the durability as I have only had them about a month but my friend has the same ones and she has had them for years. Overall they are a really nice product.

Quality, well-made product
I cannot speak to the durability of this item as I've just received it, but these half chaps look like they'll last. The leather is strong and supple, the stitching is even, and the YKK zippers are very heavy duty. I ordered according to the measurement chart and they fit really well - tight enough and tall enough that they should be perfect once they break in. With the trim fit around the ankle and the high-cut tops, they look very elegant as far as half-chaps go.

Nice half chaps
My ariat stable half chaps kept getting worn out and I'd have to buy a new pair every year so I decided to try something else. I love how customizable the size is (picking width and height). I've gotten a lot of complements on them and the snaps make them looks really chic. My only complaint is that the bottom snaps come unsnapped. I've been wearing them this winter and haven't gotten cold wearing them over my thermal breeches.
