Ceramic particles in the pad’s ThermoBalance® underside reflect body heat back as soothing far infrared rays, making it ideal for cold-backed or hard-working horses. These rays penetrate beneath the skin to activate blood flow, which may help decrease inflammation. The exterior mesh layer not only provides ventilation, but style, too. Hints of metallic thread in the top layer's quilted fabric add subtle shine, giving the pad a luxe look. Keeps my horse much cooler
Living in a very warm area, keeping my horse cool while riding is almost impossible. I have noticed that sweating under the saddle pad has decreased (the heat has not).

Great light pad
My sensitive mare really likes this pad and so do I. Right away I noticed that this pad is lighter than some of the other therapeutic pads meaning that I can use it in the southern US summer heat. It is barely large enough for my dressage saddle but it works. So far it is holding up well. I would love to see it in some other colors.

Makes all the difference for a sensitive back
I have used two of these pads in black exclusively since June of 2020, having used each approximately 100 times a piece and washing them several times. The ceramic tech has made all the difference in my horse's warmup time and overall back comfort! Only now in the last couple of weeks have I had the piping just behind the girth keeper begin to fray, which does make me wish there was some sort of alternate material where the leg and girth naturally rub. Otherwise these pads are beautiful, effective, and definitely durable!

Great dressage pad!
I wasn’t looking for a particular type of pad, just a nice one when I found this one. After reading the reviews I decided to try it. I would not have truly believed the difference in my horse’s movement and willingness if I hadn’t seen (ridden) it for myself! She was much more fluid and forward and generally happier! Bravo Smartpak! I am going to order one for my jump saddle as well! ( please make in an eggplant colour!)

My New Favorite Pad
My mare loves this saddle pad, and so do I! She tends to be a bit cold backed and sensitive (think "the princess and the pea"), and she's never shy about letting me know how she feels. Having a pad that helps her to stay loose and comfortable through her back is very important to me, and this one checks all of the boxes.
The fit of this pad is perfect for my mare as well as my saddle, which is a 17.5". It pulls up easily into the gullet to allow for wither clearance and doesn't shift or bunch at all during my rides. I love that this material is highly breathable and lightweight, which sets it apart from other ceramic saddle pads. I can use this one year-round without worrying about too much heat buildup.
This pad is easy to keep clean and can be machine washed on cold - however it should NOT go in the dryer as it can damage the fabric. I use a gentle detergent and hang to dry.
This pad is perfect for anyone looking to support their horse's back health and help keep their muscles limber and performing their best. Whether your horse is a top competition horse or a beloved pleasure princess like mine, they deserve the comfort of this saddle pad!

My horse loves it!
Tried this and now I don't want to use any of the other pads that I have in my collection. My horse goes so much better using this pad. It is amazing. He is so much more "together" and forward.

Best pad for a cold back!!
I bought this because everyone was sold out of the back on track pad in black. I was skeptical of another company since the BoT products work SO well, but because smartpak has THE best customer service, I knew it was safe to try. Omg, I am so glad I did! This pad works just like the BoT ones! I always use my fleece BoT blanket before a ride in the winter, and that combined with this pad has been so helpful for my horse. He isn’t arthritic or older, but he does have a weak stifle that can give him trouble. This combination quickly lowers our winter warm up time and makes us a more efficient team!! Plus the gray boarder is so pretty and looks good with all of our colored polo wraps :)
The ONLY downside I would say is if you ride in a dusty arena, this holds the dust too well. I give it a good shake after riding but it still looks dusty.

I am loving the saddle pad!!
I bought this saddle pad after learning that my 4 year old OTTB had a bit of a tight back, after having some bodywork done. I have learned how to keep his back looser but wanted to try a saddle pad to see if it could help transfer heat and keep his muscles relaxed. I have been using this pad for a month and he is moving freely and seems to be happier and using his body in a better, healthier way AND it is a pretty pad.

He likes it!
My hyper sensitive guy loves his Back on Track "beanie" and I thought I'd try the Smartpak pad with similar qualities. He seemed to like it right away and he seemed to get softer in his back, though have only used it once so far. I wonder if it will prove too hot in summer. The trim is a bit thick on the edges.

I’ve had this for a couple of months now and it has my horse loves his smart therapy dressage pad!! It has held up well and works like my back on track products. Wonderful perk is the pad stays put under the saddle and is much softer on the coat and less rubs appearing; especially this time of year when his coat is clipped!

Immediate difference!
I noticed a difference the very first time I used this saddle pad! My horse has a slight roach back that has been improving with chiropractor work, but I wanted to try to make her even more comfortable. I put the saddle pad on as soon as I finished brushing her so that it has time to "work" while I finished tacking up. The difference was astonishing! I could immediately tell she was much more relaxed and comfortable. It was the best ride I have had in the 2 years I have owned her. Not only did it make a huge difference for my horse, but it is less expensive than other brands and I have complete confidence in the quality of all products made by SmartPak.

looks and feels good
Got it a few weeks ago and have been using it on me not the horse yet. Seems to be helping with sleeping and my back isn't as sore when I get up in the morning. Horses will have to wait a little longer :)

This is a nice quality pad, and I love the little shimmer it has to it that isn't really noticeable in pictures. I have many BoT products for my horse that I frequently use on myself, so I figured the best way to test this pad out was to lay it on my chair and see how it worked for my back, just as I frequently do with my horse's BoT products when he isn't using them. I could feel the same effect on the tight muscles in my back, just a bit less intense, and it didn't make me sweaty like BoT products can, which I found nice. I think the lesser intensity is a point in its favor, as my sensitive horse can only use his BoT products for an hour or two at a time, and perhaps with the SmartTherapy he could go longer. I rode in it the other day and I had the same response from my horse as he gives to his BoT pads, so he's certainly happy with it, which is really all that matters! I've recommended it to all my barn friends, as it is at a great price point as well.
