Show off your horse’s style with the SmartPak Soft Padded Leather Halter! Each halter is handmade by skilled Amish craftsman with the highest quality leather and durable, stylish hardware. Havana halters have solid brass hardware, while black halters have stainless steel hardware. Contrasting soft padding on the 1” double-stitched noseband, cheek pieces, and crown piece prevents rubbing or uncomfortable pressure on sensitive areas. An adjustable chin strap and crown piece allow for a customized fit. Choose from a variety of colors to coordinate with your barn colors, personal style, or other SmartPak gear like saddle pads and Piper Breeches.

Please note, this is not a breakaway halter and is unlikely to release under pressure. As a safety precaution, please inspect product before use and do not leave on horse unattended.
By choosing to add customization to this halter, a nameplate will be attached with your desired text. Havana halters will have a brass nameplate, and black halters will have a nickel nameplate.

Lovely Halter!

I purchased this halter and it’s held up beautifully. The leather and padding are both soft, and the colors are vibrant. I do not use it for turnout, so it’s never been in the mud or sat in the sun all day.

Fit great, good quality
Very pleased ! The horse/full size fit my thoroughbred perfectly. The throat piece seemed odd shaped right out of the box but worked well. Have only used a few times so I am unsure on how long it will last, but it seems very sturdy

Gorgeous, but oddly shaped throat piece
This halter is beautiful - I got the black/purple one for a gray mare. It seems well-made and comfortable enough.Very flashy with a purple lead rope. My only complaint is that the throat piece is oddly shaped, with a U bend in the middle, and is especially stiff. This makes it fit a bit oddly on the head. It's OK, just weird, and I'd not buy it again for this reason. But... it's nice leather.

Better than my Perri’s leather halter
This leather is so supple and soft. It didn’t need to be broken in at all. I have a Perri’s leather halter for my other mare and this one is actually a lot nicer and a fraction of the price. Definitely will be sticking with SmartPak in the future.

Pretty but over stretched in just 4 months!
When i bought this halter 4 months ago it was beautiful and soft. i loved it so much for my new horse! Then just after a few weeks i had to keep moving the holes up. He is now on the highest hole on both sides. He is a 17h warmblood and i ordered a Reg horse size. This halter no longer fits and now i need to find a better option that will hopefully last longer.
Just to note he has never pulled back or had any naught behavior while wearing the halter. This is just normal wear.

Nice Halter
I really like that my product was delivered early and in good condition. The halter was as described, but there are a few small things about it I don't like. The fit is slightly large for my QH who has a decent (not cob) sized head. I had to punch holes in it to get a better fit. The leather was a bit dry but I have oiled it and it's coming along nicely. The hardware is not brass but VERY gold. Overall the halter has a great look just exactly what I was expecting. I'm still happy with my purchase and will not be returning the items, just making some adjustments.

Perfect Halter
This has all the features I want in a halter - good fit, nice quality leather, hardware that isn't flimsy. I've bought several over the years and they last a long time. The halter in this photo is a year old. The red lining has faded a bit because it's occasionally left outside when my horse is out in the rain and snow. The halter if fully adjustable and the cob size fits my Gypsy perfectly. I highly recommend this halter.

Lovely but...
I was soooooo excited to receive this halter! It was a splurge, but my filly has always had hand-me-downs from the boys so I thought it was time she got her own! It is quite a pretty halter and the nameplate looks very nice. The halter is well oiled from the start, as others have said. But it was HUGE on my filly, and she is a Friesian cross and does not have a small head! I had to punch a few holes on each side and cut off about an inch of the chin strap. It could use a few more holes but there is not any room. I ordered the horse size, which is what she always wears, but this one runs big. I guess I should have actually measured her head, but the size chart had the same measurements as her other halter that I did measure, so I thought it would be ok. The quality of the leather, while it is soft, just was not what I would expect for a halter at this price point. It is only single-ply leather, which is awesome if you want it for a turn-out, but that was not my plan. So, while beautiful, it just did not meet my expectations. I feel so bad saying this I love Smartpack!

Don't like that padding is wider than the leather
I purchased cob. The padding in addition to 1 inch of leather makes it about 1 and 1/2 inches wide. Looks bulky and unattractive! Quality looks about average, maybe for a larger horse it might be ok, but I am returning.

Flattering and long lasting
This is my second time buying this halter - and the only reason I had to replace is because the new horse is smaller and doesn’t fit in my previous one. My previous halter still looks brand new and has been used daily (not for turnout) for 4 years!

Halter review
i bought this extra halter as a christmas gift for my sweet mare -- our color is purple & she looks so awesome in her new black & purple leather halter -- it is soft against her skin being that it is padded. I did customize the halter with a name plate but i accidentally made a mistake in the spelling of her name (too many things at once) and the customer service woman was so kind & awesome -- she ordered me a new name plate at no charge!!!! i was so very grateful for the generosity as my mare suffered a ruptured diaphragm in august and almost did not make it -- so for her to be wearing her new soft, padded black & purple padded halter halter (new name plate is on the way) is a miracle!!!! thank you smart pak for a great product and for your generosity with my mistake!!!

Fabulous halter!
I got this halter in purple and let me say that we are the talk of the barn! It fits so nicely on my big Warmblood (I got the standard horse size) and it came nice and flexible and excellent quality. I‘be had several people ask where I got it and be surprised by the price point since nice leather halters can be incredibly expensive.

Fits mini well!
I bought this last month for my 32" mini and was pleasantly surprised with how well it fit! The only issue with the fit was the chin strap was a bit tight even on the last hole, so I punched a new one in and now it's perfect! It has been living in the tack room and has only been put on a time or two(I'm holding out for show season), but I will be buying another for my other mini!
