Very adjustable. Got it to fit perfectly.
I had tried 2 halters locally and they did not fit my large mini/pony--one was too big and an adjustable one was too small. Because of the leather break away crown piece on the Smartpak halter, I was able to punch 2 extra holes for a perfect fit.

Love the adjustability!
The SmartPak Breakaway Halter is a fan favorite at our barn due to its great adjustability and the breakaway safety feature.
My gelding is 15hh and on the smaller side so I order Cob size in these and they fit him perfectly! I love the adjustable chin strap and the buckles on both sides of the crown piece allow me to adjust to get the perfect fit.
The hardware is all high quality and has held up to my geldings pasture mate who likes to try and nibble on the metal pieces. I also love that I can replace the crown piece should something happen to the existing one.
As always, SmartPak offers super fun colors and we are working are way through collecting one of each!

Easy on the Bank Account
I bought this about 10 months ago. Overall, it has held up well and isn't thin like some of the cheaper halters of other brands. The crown piece has obvious wear, but those are very cheap to replace (haven't needed to just yet). The clip for the throat latch just broke, not entirely sure what happened (horse is not turned out with it on). Thankfully, the halters are cheap to replace.

Good basic halter
Nice halter overall. I like that it has several places to adjust the fit. It would be nice if the webbing was a bit more sturdy or firm as it tends to turn inside out when not in use. Minor problem but that never happened with my previous halter

Nice halter
I have always used leather but they seem to get trashed at the boarding barn as they are left on the pasture gate, bought these as a less expensive alternative. Seem to be holding up well, still feel boys are safe in these, I like the vibrant colors, and if one does get broken or go missing replacing it won't break the bank.

Not holding up
This has been my go to halter for my horse for years, so when I leased a mare this year I immediately ordered her one as well. I got the hot pink and regretted that deeply within 2 months it was faded to almost white. We are now at 6 months of use and the throat snap broke. This is on an incredible sedate laid back pregnant 17 year old mare. I feel like the quality is not what I have seen on the previous several I have bought which were navy.

Kinda Disappointed
The color is great, the material is soft, the hardware looks good...but, it is very big and not great. My Appendix mare has a big head, for example- horse sized fly masks are too small, and this horse size halter is big everywhere. Almost on smallest crown hole and the nose is buckled to the point the extra length flops around. The material is soft, but as someone else said, it is droopy. Just not thrilled, but for the price and the fact that it is break away, I did keep it.

This halter is better than I expected. It fits well and doesn’t rub. I use it 24/7 with a grazing muzzle. It is made in USA and quite inexpensive. A great but!

Faded immediately
Bought in early May and hoped it wouldn’t fade as quickly as the less quality one I was replacing due to fading. This one ended up fading almost immediately. I’m replacing it now after 2 months because it’s too faded. She doesn’t wear it during turnout either.
The halter itself is decent quality except for the fading. The adjustable strap by the chin was too big for my mare but a hair tie helped keep it from flapping.

Bright Color and Great Quality!
I bought this halter as I was having to medicate my mare multiple times a day and it was easiest to leave a halter on her but I wanted a break away option. Upon arrival I was overjoyed and impressed with the vibrant color (purple) and great quality of the halter, especially given the great price point. I would definitely purchase again.

Disappointed ...
First SmartPak product that I am unhappy with. Nylon is too soft and the halter droops and is quite difficult to put on. This one is going to my “wish I had not wasted my money” box and used only when I have nothing else.

My Everyday Halter
I have been using the SmartPak Breakaway Halters for as long as I can remember. I love the different colors they come in, so each horse I have had gets to wear their own color every day. My current mare looks great in burgundy, and I am currently on my second SmartPak Breakaway Halter for her. She wears this every day, all day in turnout, rain or shine. I only recently replaced the one I had for over a year because the breakaway piece ripped (as it should have done given the situation my mare was in!) and I thought she deserved a new one in the same color of course. Phoebe is always horse size in halters and bridles, and so she wears horse size in this too. Over time, the breakaway leather part can stretch, but since it has adjustment holes on each size, even after it stretches out, it's not too big. I always recommend this as my go-to, everyday halter!
