SmartPak Heavy Duty Bell Boots is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 262.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Last FOREVER I adore these bell boots - they're the only ones I will buy! I turn out my hunter in bells, and he has destroyed some beyond repair. These always last the longest. I don't expect them to hold up for years, as they have velcro, but I do expect them to wear well. The rubber is thick, the closures are stitched on exceptionally. I won't buy any other pairs from now on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First Impression: Fits Well! I have a hard time buying bell boots for my guy because it never seems like I can find a size that isn’t slightly too small or slightly too big. My first impression of these boots is that they fit pretty well! Enough coverage without being huge at the top. Hopefully they hold up well for riding, the Velcro seems sturdy as does the rest of the boot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn’t last long Not as heavy duty as I thought. Nice looking but lasted about 2 weeks on my mare who is not generally hard on bell boots and taken off at night.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy for rubber bell boots I was buying the pull on rubber bell boots off of Amazon and my horse would go through them in about 1 week. Because the pull on ones are such a pain to get on and off, I kept them on when riding too. These are super easy to get on and off so I swap them out for the ballistic velcro ones that are a bit tougher while riding. I've had these on continuously other than while riding for over a month. The rubber is a little chipped at the bottom and the stitching at the velcro is just starting to tear but overall they have held up very well. I am very happy with these and will continue to get them instead of the cheaper options.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Updated Review: Go up a size I originally purchased these boots 3 years ago and wasn't all that happy with them. I decided to try them again, going up a size to see if that would help with the rubbing issue I'd had (the top had rubbed my horse's pasterns raw). It worked! It seems like these run small compared to other similar brands. My 15-hand half-Arabian gelding with a size 0 shoe needs a LARGE in these bell boots. I'd have given these a 5-star rating if they were a bit more "Heavy Duty," as mine tore at the top after about an hour of use, but it's not so bad and they are still usable. Will probably purchase a few more pairs to have on hand should these ones ever decide they need to roam free in my horse's pasture.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tore in half after only one month Bought these for a very sedate, calm horse. I just want the extra assurance that her huge step would not interfere from behind and pull off shoes. Only use in turn out. One boot is torn in half after less than one month.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Tried several times, velcro rips off This is the first negative review of a SmartPak brand product I have written. Unfortunately, the velcro on these rip even with the quietest horses. The horse I use these on is closer to being a plant than an animal, he is QUIET as they come, spends his day eating 2nd cut hay and sleeping with the occasional trail ride. Disappointed that these aren't more durable.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won’t buy again I’ve always bought Schneider brand bell boots. I saw these and decided to give a try. My horse is hard on bell boots. He had these ripped off in less that 4 hours of turnout time. All Velcro ripped off at the stitching. Lesson learned. Stuck with that works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Quality Got the bell boots right after he destroyed his other pair(from elsewhere). Very sturdy, great fit.
    Date published: 2019-11-21
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ripped after 1 month with a horse on stall rest I bought these a month ago and the rubber ripped right down the center. I have had slightly better success with their bellboots that have fleece. I have probably purchased 8 pairs of the fleece kind.
    Date published: 2019-10-18
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fit fine, but the rubber ripped After two days of having these on my mare, I found one in the pasture and the rubber was ripped straight down from top to bottom. Haven’t had any issues like this with any other bell boot brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wanted to love them... I wanted to love these boots, but they didn't last. My 4-year-old thoroughbred wore these about 3 times. The boot didn't even fail at the velcro. It came apart right down the middle of the ribbed rubber. Disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t last at all, very disappointed I bought these to replace my eskadron bell boots that I had for a year, and they did not last a month. Very disappointed, even though these are the heavy duty ones.
    Date published: 2019-09-20
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for thin skin Thoroughbreds Tough rubber and good hook closure. However, I bought these for my thoroughbred and after a day or two of wear he rubbed through the skin on the back of his fetlock/heel area. The bell boots have since been relocated to my senior TWH who has dense feathers in the area and no such rubbing has occurred. Decent product just pick and choose your horses.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good to have Super easy to put on and off, the velcro is pretty heavy duty. The thickness of the rubber is average, but it looks like it'll do its job. Always nice to have an affordable, quality pair of boots on hand.
    Date published: 2019-08-31
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Price, Don’t hold up I bought these boots for schooling jumping and cross country. My pony wore them literally 4 times and the Velcro tore... these boots used to last me forever but don’t seem to anymore.
    Date published: 2019-08-11
Rated 1 out of 5 by from In days, these rubbed my horse and tore off. Shipping was super delayed for no given reason and it took me almost two weeks to get these after ordering.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine for light riding - Definitely not durable I’ve had these for two weeks. Did some light riding and lunging, but both were destroyed in one short turnout.
    Date published: 2019-07-27
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great When I first got these, I was pretty happy. The boot feels sturdy, the velcro is short (less to grab), heavily reinforced and leather covered, all looking very durable. Sizing is definitely small - we're usually a very comfortable large, if anything large is .a touch too big sometimes. Large fit but not by much. It is also a little short - not a big deal for me as I use them to protect heel bulbs, not prevent pulling shoes. But definitely size up for most horses. The first ride was fine, first turnout fine. Second ride I got off and he had blood and footing all over one boot. Large rub on the back of his pastern. No bell boot (and we've tried a lot) other than Davis brand has every given us a problem. These are definitely going back. Very sad because they looked great, but not for us.
    Date published: 2019-07-17
Rated 2 out of 5 by from I usually use eskadron boots but bought these for a savings . The quality seems ok but they are much shorter than the eskadron and don't come down as far in the back of the hoof which is important to me.
    Date published: 2019-06-21
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality These bell boots are a nice heavy duty rubber with strong Velcro attachments. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was they ran a bit smaller then expected
    Date published: 2019-06-05
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty? These appeared to be heavy duty, until you let Barrel horses run around in the pasture.. stopping and sliding ripped these within 36 hours of being worn.
    Date published: 2019-05-30
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not tough enough I bought 2 pairs of the Smartpak heavy duty bell boots for 2 different horses. Unfortunately, they just aren't tough enough for turnout. On one set, the stitching on the velcro came completely undone by day 6. The other set made it about 14 days until it was shredded. Neither horse is very hard on bell boots typically. I really love the design of these boots but they need a durability upgrade!
    Date published: 2019-04-25
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible, Dangerous Product I bought these and they gave my mare horrible, bloody rubs. They are extremely stiff and you can see in the photo that there is a small gap where they come together. This caused the boot to cut into the leg. I felt terrible when I pulled these off and saw open, bloody sores in my horse’s legs. I tossed them in the garbage.
    Date published: 2019-03-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from They Really Hold Tight! I bought these in October of 2018 (Now February 2019) I LOVE the KL boots that Smartpak sells, but they were out of stock when I needed a new pair and Smartpak was having a sale on their brand items. So I bought a pair of these figuring they are velcro and wont hold up very long. They are still going strong. I live in Virginia where it literally hasn't stopped raining since May of 2018, my gelding lives outside 24/7 ALWAYS standing in mud. Even being caked in mud and the top velcro almost completely peeled off, these boots stayed on. I cleaned them every 2 weeks because the mud was so bad, but I was very surprised how well they held on. It wasn't until about a week ago that my silly TB was standing on one of the boots, and tried to pick up that foot first and it ripped. But I am so impressed and will definitely buy another pair!
    Date published: 2019-02-27
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sad to say these are horrible Sadly i have to say these are some of the worst bells ive tried. Literally ripped right off after one day when i went to unvelcro them the velcro stayed put bit the bell boot just ripped all the way down the rubber so easily i was speechless. Both did this and bye bye $20
    Date published: 2018-12-21
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Seam on newest pair rubbed both my mares raw I've used SmartPak bell boots for years and have always liked them. However, I recently ordered two new pairs, and when I used one set they made my mare's pasterns raw and bloody--raw enough that there was obviously blood all along the rim of the white pair when I untacked. I thought perhaps it was fluke and tried them on my other mare with the same result. If you look along the top, they have an unclean trimmed seam that creates a sharp-ish edge where the boot sits on the pastern. This is different than my previous pairs that don't have the same seam. They also had a bit tear after two uses.
    Date published: 2018-10-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable I use them on my horse for muddy turnout. Helps prevent pulled shoes.
    Date published: 2018-10-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough Love the bell boots, I have a horse out 24/7 with 6 other horses. Love how tough and how well the Velcro sticks. Good price also.
