Very helpful!
Bought this for my very round draft cross. Every saddle slides on him no matter how well it fits. This keeps it right in place!!

Good fit
I bought this gel half pad to provide some relief to my horse. I've only used it twice, but so far I like it.

So much better than Gel-Eze pads!
When I joined my barn 5 years ago, the assistant trainer went through my tack and requested I change up my saddle pad strategy to include a Gel-Eze pad. We are in Texas where it can be very hot and humid, so horses get sweaty and saddles can slip. So I bought one but I didn't love it. You had to fold it, it bunched, they tear easily along the fold, and it was pricey. It finally had a hole in it so I looked for an alternative and found this solution from SmarkPak. With the contour shape, I don't need to fold it. It is thicker so it appears less likely to tear. Bonus: it was about half the price! I already recommended it to a friend who bought one.

I bought this half pad to try, so far it has been great. Wonderful fit and we both seems to enjoy it.

Helps saddle from sliding but makes horse back hot
I have a monoflap saddle and was hoping that this would help prevent my pad from slipping out from under my saddle. I use it in between the pad and my saddle. While it does the job to prevent slipping, it makes my horses back incredibly hot and sore afterwards. It doesn’t do this without it, I have tried. Will be returning after some trial and error, this is not for us.

Nice cushion
So I’m not sure if my horse notices a difference but I like the idea of an extra cushion. It’s thin enough that it doesn’t bulk up under your saddle like a fleece half pad. I have a grey so I do get a bunch of white hairs stuck to it. I just roll it with a lint roller every once & awhile

Not at all what I was expecting
This product is not at all what I was expecting or in need of. I was looking for an actual half pad - this seems to be more of a non-slip type gel pad(if it can even be called that?) It’s thin and extremely sticky, it stuck to itself when I pulled it off the cardboard it came on in its package. I can’t even imagine what it would look like after it was around an actual horse and it inevitably got horse hair on it. If you need something sticky to slide between your saddle pad and saddle, go for it; but if you’re looking for something to provide any kind of support (or whatever reason you’re in need of a HALF PAD) do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I will be returning this product and investing in something else.

Not My Cup Of Tea
I ordered this thinking it would be good for my 17.2 warmblood gelding with kissing spine. The saddle fitter and vet said he needed extra padding even with the custom fit, just to protect him from getting backsore. At first, it seemed like a dream come true, it kept the saddle in place, and I could feel every movement in his back. Two weeks later, I was currying him and he was very sore. When I compared this pad to the Kavallerie pad (another person at the barn owned it) the Smartpak pad was half the thickness. Also, while riding the local hiking trails, I used it on my small mare who has no back problems. The first 10 minutes were great, then my lower back started to hurt. With every drop down and going over fallen trees, I could feel the impact in my back. She was fine, but at the end of the ride I needed ibuprofen. So I invested in the Kavallerie back pad and gave it a try. My gelding's back and mine are much happier with the extra thickness.

Saddle stays in place!
This half-pad is very thin and is great if you are just looking for a little more cushion and give! Saddle stays in place too! Does not provide any 'support, adjustments' to saddle fit. I bought the clear one and it does get dirty after a few uses. Cleaning is easy and can just wet with a hose or rag, but doesn't ever come 100% clean. I would recommend the black one if you are concerned about look! I think this price is a bit steep, but I would recommend this product.
