Does the Job
I bought this saddle pad because my guy started to get a spur rub on his right side. I will say it does look a little silly using it BUT it does do what it is suppose to do. His spur rub is just about gone after treating it with MTG and using this pad after 2 weeks . If you looking for a quick fix and not spending a fortune then I would recommend this. I do like the fact that you can take the side flaps off so I can use it as a normal saddle pad and not look so silly.

Good quality, Good price!
Has helped the rubs my guy gets every spring clear up, nice quality, especially for the price! the velcro is quite good, no issues there. Like some of the other reviews, I did find that the bottom portion tends to bunch up, but it hasn't caused any serious issues, I just adjust as needed from in the saddle. You just have to use all the keepers and it stays decently. Nice size pad ( I have a 17 1/2", fits great). I will probably use as needed and keep in good shape till next spring.

Design needs improvement
Unfortunately, this pad just doesn't seem to fit correctly. The pad itself has a relatively straight spine that doesn't accomodate horses with moderate or high withers. The side flaps are extremely long and start to curve under my horse's girth area (she is 16.3h, so not small), which makes it almost impossible to prevent bunching while tightening the girth. Finally, the material is thin and seems rather cheap. I would rather pay more for a better fitting, quality saddle pad.

Very helpful
I bought this for my mare after she had rub marks from my spurs after a lesson. The extensions are quite long and don't stay perfectly in place but it helped heal the rub marks and not create any more and allowed me to continue to ride while she healed. Quality saddle pad and does what it is stated to do.

Did the job
My horse had developed a fairly significant spur rub on his right side. After reading reviews for this product and those for the belly band, I decided to try this product first, as it was much more reasonably priced. There is definitely room for improvement in overall design as far as the way the it fits over the back (no accommodation for withers of any sort), the material is pretty thin, and, like several other purchasers, I did experience some problems with bunching, particularly on the right side. HOWEVER, within 2 days of use, my horse's spur rub started to heal even though I continued to ride with spurs. Thus, for the money, this product fulfilled it's claim to protect the horse from spur rubs and, overall, I am satisfied with my purchase.

Good protection and fit
I bought this in May to cover an area where a spur rub occurred so the small area would be protected and have time to heal. It fit correctly and didn't flap or bother the horse. You can pull the long sides off and use it as a regular saddle pad too.

This product did not work at all for us and after the 2nd ride had a hole on one side from my spur. I tried using just the pad and it bunched up bad on one side under my leg

Spur rub flaps didn't function
Maybe it's the length of the flaps, but they don't lay flat, which defeats the purpose. It's nice that the pad has velcro, because given that the flaps don't serve their function, I at least can use the main part of the pad. The pad is very thin - more like a baby pad.

Scared my sensitive horse!
I used it once and threw it away. It was huge even on my 17h Hanoverian and the flaps moved enough to spook him. I had to take the flaps off on the spot.

Worked well
My horse had hives and his skin became sensitive. He got rubs from the girth and spurs. Definitely helped w the spur rubs and wasn't expensive. I had to use sharper spurs with it though as he didn't feel my leg as much.

While the quality of this pad is very nice, it was much thicker than I expected and less like a baby pad. Seemingly adequate coverage for its intended purpose but too thick for average spurs and it also bunched up a bit.

Does its job

Great pad
My horse is sensitive to spur rubs (but dull without spurs, go figure) and this pad has stopped all spur rubs. It's a soft pad, I have washed it once so far and it came out clean and white. The girth loops on the main pad and extenders keep everything in place and I don't get any bunching behind my leg. It's not the most attractive thing to put on a horse, but it does it's job and I can't ride with spurs and not use this pad. I use it everyday.

Great but one minor problem
Just got this saddle pad today, super nice, a bit long on my compact 15.3hh gelding. I noticed though that while the extended piece on the right side had lined-up girth loops, the left side did not. During processing, they must have accidentally attached 2 right-side pieces instead of a piece for each side. No matter, both extended sides stayed in place despite the one not going through a loop. Does it's job, the spur rubs I've been fighting were not irritated at all and the fabric is still thin enough that my gelding still listens to the spur.

Good pad when needed
This is a decent saddle pad, it does help to protect the horses' side from the rubbing of a boot or spur. I live in a very hot and humid climate and in a long lesson, a rub can happen. The good part of the pad is that it incorporates the girth, the less positive part is that the pad can get quite bunched up under the girth. The other issue I found, is that the pad is not gussetted at the wither like most dressage pads are, so when you then put the girth through the lower portion, it seems to really pull on the pad across the back and the wither more than a regular pad. I had to be really careful to allow a lot of extra room at the wither when girthing up or the "pull" of having the lower part of the pad secured by the girth created a tight pull of the pad across the back, especially if both longer sides are attached (I only had an issue on one side, so I took the other extender off and that helped the pressure/ pull). Good product for what it is needed for, allowed me to continue to do some light work for a week while the rub healed. (and just to be clear, the rub never broke skin, the hair came off and I didn't want the area to become more irritated.)

Great pad!
This is a great pad for horses who get spur rubs. Its great quality, very affordable and looks alot nicer than my old towel! I love that you can take the bottom parts off and still have a normal pad when you dont need them. The loops at the bottom part for the girth really help to keep it in place. My only wish is that it would come in different colors and be made for dressage saddles too!
