Great bit for soft and strong horses
Great bit for a soft but strong horse! I personally added a curb strap to my shire's bevel because I don't like gag bits without one. It works wonderfully for my mare! We compete in NATRC competitive trail and LD endurance.

Good bit, bad packaging
I love the bit, amazing price, works super well for a horse that's strong but has a sensetive mouth. My only downside is it was packaged horribly. just thrown into a thin plastic mailer without so much as bubble wrap or paper, so the package came scratched up and because of that so is the bit. But overall still happy I bought it.

Miracle Bit
My OTTB is so picky when it comes to bits. We need something with leverage for jumping on a gag rein, but be able to have a "plain" loose ring on the flat. He also hates curb chains which most gag bits need. This bit was perfect, works great in a 2 rein set up, and he seems to really like the sweet iron. The price was also amazing while we were experimenting with different bits to see what worked.

Great bit, small sizing
This bit really helped my horse in rebalancing while conditioning, hunting and doing other fast pace activities. I really like the sweet iron for softening and the comfort that the loose ring provides.
My only complaint is that this bit runs a half inch small, so order a half inch bigger than your horse’s normal bit size. My horse who usually goes in a 5” loose ring snaffle got his lips pinched, so I have ordered a 5.5” and will add bit guards.

Control without being too much
I received this bit as a gift for my welsh cross pony mare, as she and I have been through at least 10 bits so far trying to find one that works. She can be fussy but I find the but moves just enough to keep her happy yet doesn’t encourage her to be mouthy. She is pretty “hot”, especially when she gets excited cantering or jumping, but is also sensitive as a whole. This bit gives warning before engaging leverage and the leverage is mild enough that I don’t upset her. The copper and sweet iron seem fine on mine. Some rust but this is normal and expected.

Poor Quality
Bought this bit to try because I couldn’t find an all copper mouth piece cheaply, and wasn’t sure if horse would like it. After the second ride I saw that apparently the sweet iron is only a coating, because it had flaked off in multiple areas. No, it wasn’t rust, there was some rust but that is expected. My horse doesn’t really chew or fuss with bits, so for this to happen after 1-2 rides is terrible. Returning immediately, very thankful SmartPak is easy to work with.

Runs small
My horse is very picky when it comes to bits and can get very heavy when he's uncomfortable, and he goes very well in this bit. The thickness is perfect and the copper link isn't too big. However, this bit runs small. The 6" option would probably be best. Sweet Iron bits are supposed to rust (it's not a defect or sign of poor quality), so be aware of that! Only clean the bit with water, as a cleaning agent will change the sweet taste.

Incredibly disappointed don’t waste your money
Incredibly disappointed don’t waste your money!! Are used this twice and it rusted!! Yes I rinsed it off and cleaned it after each use so I spent all this money and got a junky bet that I’m now stuck with it’s worthless and I can’t use it. Entire mouth piece

Love this bit
Fabulous quality, love the thickness of the mouthpiece and placement of copper to encourage the horse to salivate. Can use with leverage hooks or without depending on the level of the horse. Wonderful bit for hacking or low level jumping at home

Runs small
Bought a 5" as my current horse horse most definitely goes in a 5" It's far too small and pinches in the corner of his mouth. When held next to numerous other 5" bits, it's noticeably smaller - probably 1/4-1/2" In terms of the actual bit and its use - it provides the mild leverage needed for a little extra half halt on xc
