The Samshield Shadowmatt Helmet is a mix between the rider's needs, the designer's creative energy, and the engineer's technical vision. This helmet has a polycarbonate outer shell that’s durable, lightweight, and treated with an anti-scratch matte finish that looks stylish, modern, and keeps it show ring ready at all times. The inner shell is made of polystyrene with variable density which provides a better dissipation of the energy produced upon impact. Another safety feature is the semi-rigid chin strap and harness that reduce the risk of the helmet tipping forward during a fall. The internal comfort foam will mold to the unique shape of your head and never lose its shape, for a superior fit and level of comfort. It’s also removable and washable so you can say goodbye to stale and stinky helmets. Additionally, Samshield ensures maximum airflow through hidden vents that retains the elegance of the helmet without sacrificing breathability. Last but not least, this helmet is ASTM/SEI F1163-15 certified for your safety and peace of mind.

For the price, this helmet should hold up much better than it does. I have had mine for just over a year, and even though I have taken extremely good care of it, keeping it under a cover, and in a bag in my tack box when not in use, the leather trim around the base has peeled off in places and the chrome paint has chipped off the plastic vents in the back. It looks tacky. I've got a Charles Owen that cost half as much and it has held up so much better. Samshields are a fad. Save your money and buy something else.

Doesn't fit my head!
I really wanted a Samshield, but they just do not fit my head. They sit up high and wobble, no matter what I try to do about fixing the fit. Wound up returning this for a Charles Owen, which fits like a glove.

So comfortable!
Bought this on sale on helmet awareness day. Most comfortable helmet I have ever owned! Lighter & better airflow than my old IRH, and absolutely no comparison to the stuffy, heavy CO Ayr8 I tried on. Totally worth the price to be comfortable and protected. Love that SmartPak does free returns on sized items… It allowed me to order and try on in home, since my local tack shop did not stock my size in any of the brands/models I was interested in.

Perfect fit
My 2 previous helmets either didn't feel right or were uncomfortable. This one fits perfectly. The quality and construction of this helmet is top notch, and it's great the liners are interchangeable so you can perfectly customize the fit. The result is that I forget I'm even wearing it, with no compromise to safety. Looks great too!

I didn't like it
It is a good shape for an oval head but I felt like it looked very mushroom looking. It seemed to pop up off my head and didn't set down snug on my skull like I expect a good helmet to do. I tried different sizes with no luck. It is also heavier then the Charles Owen. I also didn't care for the closed harness in the back. I returned it.

I really like how this helmet fits. I can also feel the air flow through the front of the helmet. I'm getting used to the different position of the chin strap as it fits differently from my ancient GPA. Looks great too!

My favorite helmet ever
I have had my Samshield for over a year now and I still rant/rave about it like I got it yesterday. It is lightweight and breathable... Really so comfortable. Most of the time I forget I am wearing a helmet. It's nice to have it on and forget about it but still know I am protected if my noggin hits the ground!

AMAZING HELMET!
I bought this helmet about 2 months ago wondering what the hype was about. I wore it to ride and the instant I put it on I was in love! It is extremely comfortable and the padding is amazing! Even though it is a little pricy, it is worth it and it is good quality.

Fantastic!
I got this helmet last month and it is great! I have a really big head and thick hair so it's hard to find a helmet that fits me. The padding is amazing. I never get any headaches at all! This helmet is true to size. ordered a 7 1/2 based on the size chart and my thick hair also fits. Definitely won't be getting a new helmet anytime soon.

A helmet I trust!
I have had a wide variety of helmets in the past, everything from Troxel, IRH, Ovation, and Charles Owen. IMO by far the best helmet I have ever worn is my Samshield. It fits my round head very nicely and is easy to achieve a custom fit through their exchangeable liner system. The excellent fit and quality construction has saved my head from a fall in one instance and their replacement program is excellent. As someone who has experienced a concussion from a fall in a helmet of questionable quality, I will always invest in a quality helmet and Samshield certainly fits the bill.

LOVE THIS HELMET!!!
I have the standard Samshield Shadow Matt Helmet and I am absolutely IN LOVE! This helmet is comfy, ventilated, and fitted. It is perfect. This helmet was definitely a splurge but it was worth every penny. I definitely recommend this helmet. It is easy to clean (damp rag) and I have the normal liner...which I just throw in the wash. I also have the premium liner so that I can put my hair in it without buying another helmet. These are gorgeous and are the hype for a reason.

Bought as a B-Day gift for my daughter.
My review is just average. My daughter has wanted this helmet FOREVER. Bought it as a bday present and didn't fit;( When I called you exchange for the correct size, I was told I could re-order it and pay again, I would receive a credit once the incorrect size was returned... Since the helmet is $450, I opted to return the helmet and wait... I'm still waiting... No verification the helmet was received or the correct size is coming... Nearly two weeks later??? Also, the sizing is deceiving... You'd think the sizes would be listed from smallest to biggest, but that is not the case... I should've purchased in a store to ensure proper fit. Generally love Smartpak, but kinda frustrated on this one:(

Comfy and stylish
I have trouble fitting helmets-- Charles Owens don't fit right. apparently I have an oval not round shape. By his helmet fits so well. Sizing with a tape measure of my head worked perfectly. I have short hair so didn't have to adjust for a ponytail folded up and inside the helmet. I am comforted knowing I'm protecting my head with such a well-regarded helmet. Not sure about durability since I've only had it a couple months.

Most Comfortable and Attractive Helmet EVER!
I bought this a month ago on National Helmet Awareness Day (the sale price helps!). I have a CO and another Samshield helmet, and this one is by far the most comfortable. I have an oval shaped head with a high forehead, so most helmets are somewhat uncomfortable and leave a red mark after an hour or two. This one is amazing-no discomfort, no red marks, super comfortable!!! Why didn't anyone use memory foam before?????
Just wore it at a show, and had it on for 4-5 hours at a time. It looked great and stayed comfy, even in 95 degree weather.
I would highly, highly recommend this! Buy it! Worth every single penny!

I bought this helmet to wear every day while training young horses. I love the development that went into this helmet. Most days it is on my head 5-7 hours! Not only does it fit perfect but my head is never sweaty when I take it off. Function and fashion!

So comfortable!
I have never worn any brand helmet other than a Charles Owen. I heard that the Samshield was light and that it had removable liner. I am so glad that I decided to try this helmet. It is so comfortable, it looks great, it is so much cooler than my Charles Owen and I can remove the liner to wash when it gets stinky. I could not be any happier about my new helmet!
