Why We Love This
The Rambo Micklem Breastplate is an ergonomically 3- point elastic breastplate for the best in comfort and safety when jumping or out on cross country. Horseware chose to work with a 3-Point breastplate as they have been show to maintain better freedom of movement over a 5-point breastplate while jumping. This breastplate offers maximum adjustment possibilities on the sides of the neck, underbelly strap and detachable martingale attachment. An extra removable safety strap is included to clip across the withers of the horse for the rider to hold on to for extra security if needed (handy for working younger jumpers and for novice riders to help with balance. Additional top clips attach to D-Ring of the saddle or the included attachments for the stirrup bars which give a safer and more secure attachment point without damaging the saddle.

Sizing is perfect (finally)
I always find cob sized breastplates to be very very tiny in the neck and then have a huge long strap between their legs...not this one. Bought this for a 16.1 H stocky TB, who always wears cob (poorly). Took a chance on this and it fits him absolutely BEAUTIFULLY. It's the best fit for a cob I've ever had. Leather is ok - about the same as the Micklem bridle, which isn't my favorite, but does last and look nice. Looks very nice on my guy.

Sharp looking, safe, and fits perfectly!
This fits our 16.2h appendix perfectly! We ordered the “large horse” size for him. It looks so good and will keep my daughter safe in the saddle! I like the optional martingale too.

Great value for the price
I dont jump, but wanted something to stabilize my saddles on my very round geldings when trail riding or doing hill work. This fits the bill nicely and I was impressed by the quality for the price. Very attractive and seems well made with plenty of "extras" - I appreciate the grab strap and D ring savers. I will only rarely use the martingale attachment if at all but I appreciated that this product came with it. I bought one Horse size and one Cob size and thanks to all the adjustability options each fit their respective gelding as expected. Happy customer!

Quality product, but sizing is very odd!
This is a lovely breastplate, well made, quality leather and some thoughtful touches, including the grab strap option and d ring savers. BUT, and a big "but", the sizing is so weird! My horse is solidly in the "small horse/cob" size per Rambo's chart. The strap to the girth is WAY too long, even when I use the girth loop as intended. The straps going to the saddle d rings are also too long, but the neck straps seem short. I've played with the adjustments to try and balance it out, but the neck strap issue may be enough for me to return this item.

Awesome product
I wanted a breastplate for a little more saddle stability especially when my horse gets very sweaty and things start to slip around. This breastplate is extremely well made and looks great too. The elastic and hardware are very sturdy and I trust this item will hold up for years. I also really like the detachable grab strap, this will come in handy for the chilly and windy days ahead when my guy is feeling a bit more spritely ;). I originally bought a Small Cob size for my barely 15hh Quarter Horse (horse size is always too big), however he is pretty bulky in the shoulder and it was too tight on him so I will be exchanging for a bigger size. Overall a great piece of equipment for added security and safety. Very fairly priced too given the quality!

Best bang for your buck!
Leather is beautiful, adjustability is great, double elastic. Bonus it comes with D-ring savers, and an “anti-eject” handle(detachable). It also includes the running martingale. Only thing to complain about is I bought cob and the running martingale attachment is still too big, but if I were to buy pony, then the breastplate wouldn’t fit. So now I have to still go buy a separate running martingale attachment. My guy is a VERY petite 16hd KWPN, so I think the breastplate is true to size.

Runs big but I love it
Purchased the pony size for my 15h Arabian jumper and I love it. Most breastplates are either too big or too small but this one is really the perfect size. The running attachment could be a bit shorter but I was easily able to punch a hole and make it work. And I love the grab strap. My horse is well trained and I have been riding jumpers for 20 years or so but I still love a good grab strap.

Now the whole barn wants one
I was looking for a wider breastplate for my big 17.1 Cleveland Bay x Percheron, and thought I would try this one. My horse loves it, and every person in the barn (eventers and fox chasers) who’s seen it wants one.
It’s beautifully made, and the padding is a huge plus. Elastic is typically a weak point, but the elastic on this one is incredibly well done.

Love this product!
Purchased the large horse size for a 17.3hh TB and it fits perfectly! It is pretty adjustable all around, the running martingale could be more adjustable but you can always buy a new attachment. Great breastplate for the price and the brown color is perfect!

Pros & Cons: Cob Sized
Pros: Great quality and craftsmanship that comes standard with all Horseware Products. The grab-strap could come in handy. Elastic is nice and thick and the color is very pretty. Good adjustability in the girth strap attachment.
Cons: I wish there was a clip on the end of the girth loop, I prefer to use a clip because its easier to put on that way and it doesn't seem to bug my picky mare as much. There also is not a way to put a clip on it, so I'm stuck using the loop. Also like the Micklem Bridle, I feel that Horseware has only made some pieces of the product specifically for the size stated while other pieces are standard size no matter what. To elaborate... Running martingale attachment is TOO BIG for the 14.3 mare, I had to use one from my other breastplate. The shoulder straps are adjusted about halfway through the holes, so I question whether it would fit a 16hh as the sizing chart states. The straps that attach to the saddle are on the second to last hole on both sides so there isn't much room at all to make them longer, so again I question whether it would fit a 16hh.
But overall, it is a good, innovative product with great craftsmanship. I am glad to have bought it and would suggest it to someone else.
