Rated 3 out of 5 by DonnaCarol from Nice girth, too wide for horse The measurement advertised is only the length. It is hard to judge the width of a girth from a picture. It would be helpful to know that this girth is 41/2 - 5" wide. My 15 hand horse needs a much more narrow anatomical girth. I had to return.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ali64 from very nice girth Nice fitting girth - no gaps. Nice quality leather. The girth extends several inches past the buckles, so it comes close to my saddle pad. However this keeps the girth very straight, and I was prewarned to check it by previous reviews.

I was inspired to leave a review because I was looking at purchasing another one in a different size. Mine still looks nearly brand new with daily use. I love the shape of this girth and it works very well for thin skinned or sensitive horses. The only thing a bit weird, but actually may be more comfortable for the horse is the long distance from the end of the girth and the buckle. In order to get the girth tight, the end of the girth can end up touching/sitting on your saddle pad (sizing down on the girth and it won't even reach the buckles). But overall, I love this girth and it's well worth the price.

Some people mentioned they didnt like extra length above buckles but i find it helps keep the billets stay in alignment and protects the horse. It lies flat on his sternum. Doesnt gape at front like other ones i have tried. Soft leather and rounded edges and corners. No rubs.

Billets nicely protected and brought straight down to buckles by extra leather. Saddle very secure. Leather was excellent. Only Owned a week so not sure about long term durability yet.

I have been reading about this type of girth and the idea of distributing the pressure over a larger area made good sense to me. So I purchased this girth to see if it would make a difference. The results were very positive. He looked at me, his ears stayed forward and not even a pig face happened. He also seemed to move out better. I would have liked for the keepers to be closer to the end of the girth to hold the end of the leathers more securely. I purchased the same size in this girth that I was previously using and found the length worked well for my saddle.
