Very Greasy
My old horse had an allergy to fly bites. I know, it's crazy. I didn't want to put a lot of chemicals on her so I bought the outsmart. Not only did it not work, it also left a black greasy residue all over her body.

Just ok
Bought this last season for this year, the smell is SO STRONG. The flies at the barn are super intense this year so I can't tell if the product is not strong enough or? either way I think the product is just ok, pretty average for a fly spray. The bottle completely disintegrated while I was using it so I just poured it into a new bottle. Makes my mare really nice and shiny, I just can't get past the insane smell

THIS S#&T WORKS!
no joke this works we have HORRIBLE horse and deer flies this works i have never had them leave my little donkey alone before this my gelding is very thin skinned and he is not all bite up while out in the grass paddocks. i use it on me when im in the garden i have no bites either. IT WORKS

Doesnt work

Lingering scent
I bought this when it went on sale (buy 2 get 1). I used it one time and ended up wheezing and cough for 30 mins after. I have no health issues that could’ve made me more sensitive to this product and I’ve never had the reaction I did from this fly spray. I was out in the pasture with the horses when I used this so ventilation was not an issue. I had to wear a mask to use this. It did keep the bugs away and the initial scent is a lovely peppermint, however there is an after scent that I can only describe as “chemically” and it lingers. I wish I did not have a reaction to this spray as it does a great job with the bugs but I cannot overlook the coughing and wheezing after use.

Not thrilled
I bought this fly spray when I couldn't get a gallon of my regular spray. Liked that it was all natural and I can use it on myself as well. It has a nice mint smell, but doesn't knock down the flies on contact and doesn't last long at all. It works ok in a pinch, but was hoping for a better result.

It worked for a while.
I really liked this fly spray, It worked for a while but doesn't last. It also has a potent smell. Everyone in the barns knew I sprayed my horse lol. When I was at a smaller barn this worked great. But now at a bigger barn & a year later it doesn't last long. I have two bottles & I plan on bringing them home & using them around the perimeter of my house. I do like the fact that its safe around my child & dog. I am sorry Smartpak :( this did work & now doesn't.

Worthless
Just tried this for the first time. Within 10 minutes the flies were back, just as bad as before I applied it. I put it on extra heavy too, because it’s incredibly humid in Md. right now, and the flies are plentiful. Going back to my trusty Pyrhana.

Smells great and works okay
I really like the smell of this fly spray, sort of like spearmint. I use is before I ride and it seems to keep my girl pretty happy with the bugs not attaching themselves to her legs. I don’t know how well it would work out in the pasture because I use Endure for that.

I purchased this deal and sprayed my horse normally on her body but heaviest on her legs. I went out on trail and came back to find 6 ticks imbedded in her legs. I was pretty disappointed and now have three bottles of ineffective product. ☹️

Love the smell!
Our barn always smells so good after I spray our boys. The spray does a great job keeping the flies away but does not have a strong chemical smell. I never feel bad about spraying our horses with Outsmart like I do with some other fly sprays.

Wanted so much for this to work
First of all, I adore SmartPak, and I have been happy customer for YEARS.
I bought this fly spray last year during the sale. I bought 4 gallons, and am sadly still trying to use up the first gallon. It just doesn’t work for my horses. They hate the smell, and try to get away from it-and I get that-there is a pretty strong peppermint smell at first. Unfortunately, my local flies must love peppermint, and swarm to cover the horses as soon as I spray them down.

Smell of overwealming
When I first try this spray in the early spring, it seemed to work fairly well. As it is getting hotter and the flys are worse, it does not seem to be lasting very long. I spray pretty heavily before turnout and within an hour it is like they were never sprayed at all. Also, I have 2 horses are ok with the smell, 2 that sneeze and try to get away from it and 1 that absolutely can not take the smell. I bought 2 gallons and a couple quarts but I will not buy anymore after that is gone.

It works!
I have been using this for a couple of weeks on my two horses and it works. I am in the PNW and we don't get huge biting flies so that may be a consideration.. One of my horses is allergic to pyrethrins so I have searched for alternatives. The horses hated the smell at first but are used to it now. I don't find it bad at all. I use the spray and the roll-on. I am not finding bites in the udder or sheath areas and no flies around the faces. Still early in the year so we will see how it goes.

works but the smell makes me gag
I bought this fly spray when there was a sale because of all the amazing things I've heard about it. I knew it was peppermint scented but I never could have been prepared for exactly how strong the smell is. I sprayed it only a few times and within minutes the whole barn smelled like peppermints and I could hardly breathe. it was so strong others were asking what the heck happened. I'm not going to lie, this fly spray works, however unless your only going to spray it outside I wouldn't recommend using it on more than one horse at a time just because of the smell.

Great smelling, and works wonderfully!
I've been using this fly spray for two years and it works GREAT for both of my horses. The scent is quite minty and pleasant and I don't feel like I am choking when I use it! I happen to live in Massachusetts and I can get a discount by refilling my bottles at their store location. Likely won't be purchasing another brand.

I just started using this product this season. So far so good. Seems to be keeping the flies away as well as the night insects. I have to agree it does have a strong smell, although I rather smell this fly spray with natural ingredients then breathing in a chemical based fly spray.

Two complaints!
I have been using this for about a week. For one thing, when I spray it on my horse in her stall I start coughing - over and over. I have to stop spraying and leave the area. If it worked I would deal with that by spraying her outside. The smell is pleasant; but it's repelling of flies is very short lived. Yesterday, I sprayed her well and made sure she had some on her face and nose. Then my attention went to her hooves for about 20 minutes; when I looked up at her she had about 20 flies on her nose. This has been my experience with it all week; seems like it's working; but check back in 20 minutes or so. Tried an experiment and sprayed her with a fly product that kills and repels. The flies left immediately and didn't come back. I checked a few hours later and she had one fly around her face is all. I hope I can return it as I bought the gallon with a free quart included.

Very Strong
I bought a gallon of this. However I cant spray in a box stall or even the barn breezeway, the smell is overwhelming to me and one of my horses started sneezing. It is okay to spray on the horse in an open area, but maybe my nose is just too sensitive.

Gave my horse hives
I was excited to finally buy this fly spray and it worked well for the first week, but I came out to the barn one day and my horse was covered in hives. I stopped using the spray and the hives got better so I assume it is the spray that irritated his skin. Seems like a good spray otherwise, just did not work for my guy.
