Rated 4 out of 5 by AlexaB from Awesome boots! If anyone needs something to school in and doesn’t want half chaps, I am telling you that these are awesome! No break in time and look more expensive than they are. I am a hunter rider but also fox hunt more and more frequently. I’m not worried about going out in the woods with these like I am with my very expensive custom Der Daus. The only reason I am giving 4/5 is because the snaps near my spurs come undone. I don’t really mind since these are for schooling and it just could be because they are still breaking in a little. I did take a risk with the slim but I am SO glad I did. I was worried zipping at first but it took 1 ride to feel like they were perfect in my calf. Like other reviews, I also sized down in the foot.

They're really comfortable- as much as my ariat paddock boots and treadstep leather half chaps. They're also beautiful and easy to break in. These boots shine up really well with conditioner and a leather brush when you want to go showing. People always ask if they're new, but they've lasted the longest time. I have great contact with my horse's side and I find I can still move my ankle around pretty well in these boots. You won't be disappointed!

I tried them despite reading reviews because they are one of few companies who make a wide enough calf at the foot size (7), however I could not size down and purchase a 6 wide since they do not make it. I returned them because of this, and because they gapped a ton at the very top of the boot. The leather was nice, and I really wanted to like the patent leather strip down the side as I thought it achieved a slim look, although I think that particular feature looks pretty cheesy in person.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Rlfhunter from Good boot for the price I spend a lot of time in the saddle and these boots are incredibly comfortable and look great. Only downside is I did buy my first pair almost a year ago (not from smartpak) and they recently ripped at the seam on the heel. I bought another pair from smartpak in January for showing only, however they will be turning into my everyday riding boots and I will be looking into a different pair for showing. Great boot, just won’t last for how much riding I do.

I was wary because I hate riding in un-broken-in boots, but these were comfortable from the first wear and only improved over time! They became my daily riding boots and still clean up beautifully for the show ring when needed.

These are My second pair of Mountain horse boots because I know from experience they hold up to a lot of abuse and last a long time. Break in time was a couple of weeks but I feel the leather is a bit more sturdy and not as flimsy as some of the high priced boots that are too soft, sag quickly and don't last long or can only be worn for shows. ONce these break in, they are like customs. Many compliments on the design. I will continue to purchase Mountain Horse boots.

After many failed attempts to find boots for my wide 16" muscular calves, these worked great (thanks to the wonderful employees at the Natick store). There aren't half sizes, so I had to order a size 9 wide (I normally wear an 8.5 wide), and even with the larger size, there wasn't too much extra room in the toe area. I've ridden in them once, and are already comfy and very sharp looking.
