Magic Cushion Hoof Packing is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product Have use this for years when my horses get tender feet. Very sticky so you usually don't even have to wrap the hoof to keep the medicine in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Basically full $35 tub is going in the garbage I bought the large tub of this as it had great reviews and is a reputable brand. It is very loose and sticky (even when thoroughly stirred) and was a real mess to apply as most of it sticks to the glove. Application instructions say not to use a diaper as padding to prevent the product from being absorbed by the padding material. As recommended I used a piece of brown paper immediately over the poultice, followed by duct tape and vetwrap, and then more duct tape. As I was doing the final duct tape wrap, a wet brown liquid started oozing out through the vetwrap near the heel bulb and caused the duct tape not to adhere at all. I did not over apply the is just too loose and wet to stay in place. The next day the product was all caked like sticky sap all over the hair on my horse's pastern and next to impossible to clean off. My trainer had some Hawthorne Sole Pack she let me use instead and it was exactly what a proper sole pack product should be--it is a very firm but malleable clay-like substance that is easy to apply and easily packs into the hoof. Furthermore the next day during reapplication I found no sticky mess on hair to deal with, and much of the product actually still present inside the hoof grooves AND my horse is definitely less sore after getting trimmed a bit short. The tub of Hooflex Magic Cushion is going in the garbage--I don't even want to offer to give it away for someone else at the barn to use because of my bad experience. I'm only using Hawthorne Sole Pack from here on out!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magical Hoof Packing I used this product twice, once in 2013 when my sensitive OTTB developed a sub solar abscess (he was being ridden more and barefoot). Farrier said he was foundering and long story short, lots of X-rays showed a massive abscess under the sole. Why won't farriers listen to us when we know the problem. The vet told me it could take months to heal up. Last resort, I put this magic potion on for 36 hours and turned him out and viola, the abscess broke through. I used this same container last month when my 28 year old OTTB lost a shoe and managed a subsolar too. Farrier said the abscess was dead because it was black but I didn't believe him and he told me not to use this product because I would "burn his hoof and blister him". My horse could barely walk, wouldn't eat and unhappy. I had enough and slapped this stuff in a diaper (not recommended by manufacturer) because it was padded and soft and quick to throw on because he couldn't hold his foot up for more then 10 seconds. Basket weaved a duct tape shell and slapped that on too and left it on for 48 hours with turnout. Within 12 hours my horse could put weight on his leg again. 48 hours later, I removed the diaper and the smell was horrific but it cleaned the hoof so well and abscess had finished draining and was done. 3 days later, he was well enough to put a shoe back on and really heal up. Without this stuff, my Jackson would have suffered with just Epsom salts and soaking as my farrier recommended. I believe in this stuff and stand behind it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soreness Relief! Twice in the last year my horse has been sore after a trim. He was barefoot the first time and this last time he has shoes. Whether barefoot or shod, Magic Cushion offers him relief and he's able to walk comfortably.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really helps with comfort! I have used this for both my 4 year old Paint gelding and for my 28 year old Paso Fino gelding. This product helps to alleviate minor pain and heat in the hoof, and it really helps my older guy move around better. Maybe it's just the way I use this stuff, but it seems to go kind of quickly. I could be applying too much though, as I've never used this product before. I still feel that it is worth the money and does what it advertises. Just be sure to wear gloves as this is a very sticky product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this This is my go to for any hoof soreness my horse develops or after a hard XC run. Really helps pull out any soreness he might have. While I love the product, it is SUPER sticky and it can be hard to get the lid on and off. You have to make sure the lid is on tight too so the product doesn't dry out but getting it off again requires some muscles! Beyond that I love this stuff.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible My horse's hooves were sore. I packed this into his hooves to relieve the pain BUT IT CAUSED AN ALLERGIC REACTION. I've never seen him in so much discomfort in my life. Not only that but it is SO messy and god forbid it gets on your skin or your horse-it won't come off. Complete waste of $50 and now my horse is suffering because of it...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the product I use this product on my horse after each day of competition when showing on a hard surface. It works great but the packaging is VERY difficult to open after the first use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must in my tack room! My AQHA gelding has a unique personality and terrible hooves as well as an OTTB with typical t-bred hooves . I use this product any time they lose a shoe or experiences any soreness. It has always improved any situation and made them more comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have purchased from SP Great product. I use it to pack feet at shows when horses feet are taking a beating on hard surfaces and standing in stalls with out mats. Easy to put in. I just roll a golf ball sized amount of product out and pack it in to the hoof. Usually just patting it with shavings is enough to keep it in at horse shows. For guys that walk a lot I do the paper bag with vet wrap method. If horses lay down you'll see it on their elbows. Use alcohol or baby oil to remove. Wish I had seen smartpaks pricing before I bought this locally. I paid $69.99 and smartpak has over $20 cheaper and free shipping. Lesson learned- check smartpak first!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stays in well! May help? I purchased this for my occasionally sole-sore mare. Clean the hoof well, then apply (with gloves) Magic Cushion, then pack with sawdust. I then turn her out! You'll still be picking it out of the feet 24-48 hours later (if the ground is dry)! I'm not sure she experienced any pain relief, but I do think this stuff helps keep the moisture in the foot more balanced during the dry summer, when horses are stomping flies on the hard ground. I'll continue to use if she seems sore, because, hey, I bought a bucket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! Bought this product after a recommendation by both my farrier and vet for my navicular gelding. He has had periods of significant lameness and this has really helped him. I've been using it for almost a year and pack him whenever he is showing signs of soreness or we make trimming changes. We removed his shoes a couple months ago and the Magic Cushion has made the transition much easier for him. It is very sticky so I always wear gloves when applying it but baby oil will wash it right off. I usually pack a golf-ball sized scoop into his hooves, cover with vet wrap, and then wrap with duct tape and reapply if needed in a day. I prefer to keep my guy out 24/7 and I've had no problem with it staying on during turn out. When I do bring him in due to weather I always pack him to help make him more comfortable. It is a bit expensive but you get a lot of use out of it and I would say it is definitely worth the money. Recommended to anyone dealing with navicular or soreness issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! We have used this product for years. It's great for packing hooves at horse shows and at home. I have used other similar products but none works as well as Magic Cushion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really works well! I have a young mare who has some navicular changes....she had been in shoes for a few months with a new farrier. Sadly, he crippled her. We needed to pull the shoes and she was so, so uncomfortable. I purchased some Magic Cushion and have been packing her feet nightly -- she is so sound and comfortable!! I am so happy to say how wonderfully it has worked for her!

    Date published: 2014-09-01
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product I use this while away at shows. I always feel bad because my horses go from being turned out all day to standing in a stall 24/7 for 3 days at at time. I packed my horses feet each night at horse shows and it keeps their feet from becoming sore. The only downside is that it takes at least 12 hours to dry and didn't stay in the horses foot as well as I thought it would.
    Date published: 2014-07-07
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helped a puncture wound Started using this when my mare had a small puncture wound in her hoof and it has kept away the pain and stopped any further issues. With the help of antibiotics as well she is moving fine and will be good to go in a few days. I do wish it was not so expensive though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recommended by my farrier Magic Cushion hoof packing was recommended by both my farrier and my trainer to use when I had my horse's shoes pulled for the winter months. I have used it four or five times in the past two weeks and my horse is making the transition to being barefoot with minimal soreness very well. I do wish however, that the smaller 2 lb. container were available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Hoof Pack My QH was walking on eggshells, due to his feet being too tender, even walking on grass he gimped around, I bought the Magic Cushion after seeing it in H&R magazine ... Got my friends boots to try, yesterday so this morn I picked n cleaned his feet, pack them with paper on top n booted him up he literally jogged out of the barn to the turn out field, my boy was back to himself !! And I cleaned my hands easily with alcohol which is recommended on your jar, no left over residue what so ever, and I didn't use the gloves either! Thank you for giving me my horse back!!!!!
    Date published: 2013-10-14
Rated 4 out of 5 by from seems like good stuff I bought this because my horse's hoof was trimmed too short, and it made her lame. It has not improved her lameness, but it gives me peace of mind that I can pack it in her hoof and put a boot on and maybe it helps her. It is extremely sticky, but not a big deal. It came right off my hands with some Goo Gone. It seems like a great product and I'm glad to have it on hand
    Date published: 2013-10-03
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! This stuff really is 'magic' for feet. Now my go-to product for any soreness in the hoof. Wear gloves and DO NOT let any get on your horse's skin: if it sits for any length of time on skin it can cause heat and swelling up the leg, ouch! WD-40 is the only thing I've found to get this stuff off of me and my horse. Works like a charm though. A little bit goes a long way. I put MC, then a layer of shavings, then wrap when he is out or if he is in just MC and pack with shavings, so far it has stayed in (even when he pulled the wrap off in the field). Super product, just use with caution.
    Date published: 2013-08-15
Rated 5 out of 5 by from no sore feet the footing at my old barn was terrible. my horse were stone bruised every week. Magic Cushion kept them comfy until I moved to a barn with better footing.
    Date published: 2013-07-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great packing material that sticks I have never packed my horse's hooves, as it was never needed, but recently, I had to. So I got this product and it was great. I have tried a few other products, but this one is the best. Over the weekend when my horse has to sit in his stall, the packing stays tacked up in his hooves (with a thin gauze), protecting him from cracked hoof to pre-thrashy odor to impacted hooves with manure/wood chip bedding. A bit gooey, but has good component to prevent infection and soreness. You should have a disposable gloves and lay a large golf ball size ball on each of 4 hoof size 1 layer gauze, and push it up, with the gauze side away from the hoof, on the center of a cleaned hoof- it will spread into all direction when the horse puts his foot down on the shaving. Pack the end of each gauze in with hoof pick for the perfect finish.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So messy! Wouldn't recommend it... I DREADED putting this on my horses feet every time I used it because I just knew it was going to get all over me and him and never come off. It worked alright for a 24 hour period after a show but then when it came to removal it got stuck all around his coronet band and I had to make sure I was wearing gloves at all times. One time it got so dry and stuck that I had to continuously shave the hair around my horse's hooves to get it off because nothing else worked... it took about 3 weeks to get rid of all of it.
