Happy Horse, Happy Rider
After hearing how well a friends horse did with this bit, I did my research and decided to give it a go. My 24 year old retired show horse is very sensitive in the mouth, this bit makes a world of difference and he is much happier now.

Great bit for a youngster
I bought this bit based on the other reviews. It works! My 5 yr old loves it and has been the best he's been with starting gradual contact and working from front to back. Great price as well

Horrible for small face horse
I bought this bit for my Arabian. He wears a 4 3/4 bit. While the bit was true to size, the D-ring was HUGE HUGE HUGE. This D ring was double the size of my previous D ring. The rings did not fit his face or his bridle. His cheek straps no longer fit. The rings hit where his nose band goes. Basically the bit took over his face. I had to return it. I would not buy this bit unless I had a horse with a huge face.

My horse loves it!
I recently bought this bit in replacement for a loose ring double jointed snaffle for my hunt bridle. I was having trouble with my warmblood mare, who naturally holds her head a little higher in a dressage frame, reaching into the contact and stretching her neck and back to have a more level topline, and this bit helped us tremendously with that. She is so supple and relaxed with this bit, and it looks great for the hunt classes as well. Very good value for riders on a budget like me. No complaints from me!

My horse loves it
Our trainer recommended switching from a standard D ring to a copper bit. I started searching on smartpak and found this bit and read the great reviews. I decided to give it a try and it has been a great choice. Both my daughter and horse love it!

Great bit but looks used...
My horse has been lame so I haven't had a chance to use this bit yet, but the quality appears great for the price. My only quip is that the bit I was sent appears to be used. The tag was zipped tied to the d ring and there was a build up of gunk in the joints where the lozenge connected to the bars. I was able to scrape it off with my finger nails. Looks like a used item that was returned. For that reason I would hesitate to buy bits from smartpak in the future. If I'm going to get a used bit anyways I'd rather pay half the price for one on eBay

I bought this for my large hunter pony. She was previously in a snaffle dee ring, but I wanted something with the larger hunter dee. She is also more willing to accept contact and chew on the bit in this compared to the snaffle.

Nicely made, rings are not too big. Size up
My mare normally takes a 5" but can go up to 5 1/4". With this bit, I definitely needed a 5 1/2" - it bends so much (which isn't bad) that you will need to size up with this one.

great addition to bit wardrobe
My TB/Hano loves this bit. I had him in a loose ring happy mouth snaffle, which was fine, but I didn't feel like he was listening quite as well as I wanted. I've used a full-cheek copper Dr. Bristol on him at shows but that is way too harsh for daily schooling and I wanted something in between to try at shows. I knew he was used to the copper and I liked the rounded bean in the middle of this so thought I'd try it. He loves it. He is soft and accepting in the mouth but responsive when I need it. So happy I found this happy medium. He has a dainty head and I worried that the large D-rings would overwhelm him, but it actually looks fine. I feel this is a good bit to have in your arsenal. I am going to get another one for my mare. The bean in the middle seems large, but since my horse loves it, I'm not complaining.

Great for my OTTB!
My OTTB loves this bit. He had been ridden in a loose ring, but I wanted to switch to the D-ring, as we have our sights set on the hunters. My trainer immediately noticed the change, thought the bit looked great on him and thought he seemed to be enjoying it!

My Goldilocks Bit!
I adore this bit! It works so well on my Morgan mares. They all readily accept it, far better than other bits. I am actually in the process of ordering a second one, so I don't have to swap it out. Highly recommend!

Good bit
Good bit for a good price, the copper oval was larger than I expected but my thoroughbred does like it. I would recommend this product.

Love it!
I love this bit! My mare lunges, hacks, and jumps 3'6" courses in this bit. She loves the copper so much that she dives to take the bit (used to have bridling issues) and holds onto it for an extra minute when I take the bridle off. It's very easy to clean as well.

Awesome bit
My 6 year old TB mare loves this bit. I bought it for her because she was tossing her head a bit with her plain eggbutt snaffle, and I really wanted to try something less harsh for her. I've had this bit for about 8 months now, and I have been using it on her every ride and she loves it. She is super soft in the bit and is very willing to bend and flex and stay round the entire ride. I wouldn't use this bit with my very hard mouthed Mustang mare, just because it isn't a strong bit, but it works phenominally well on my soft mouthed TB.

Excellent Quality for an Affordable Price!
So far so good! Wasn't really seeing behavior changes or rudeness while riding but I always wondered how my little gelding would do in something like this rather than a regular snaffle. There was a noticeable difference the minute I put it in his mouth. He loves it that's for sure. Highly recommend. Will see how long the bit holds its quality. Just purchased and only used a few times.

Love this bit
Nice, soft bit. I've found with the bigger one that I have that sometimes the joints aren't as flexible as the smaller one that I have. Overall good quality. My one horse went so nicely in it that I tried my other and he loves it too!

For soft mouths
All three of my geldings like this bit. They have soft mouths and the larger size and copper center encourages them to accept the bit.

A big hit with my pony!
My pony loves copper mouth bits, so I was sad to retire her snaffle, which was too big for her. She had already firmly rejected a new, non-copper bit (she would shut her teeth against it HARD) so I worried that she would reject this one, too. Nope—she loves it! And it seems to make her salivate freely, so it's a hit with me, too!

Great starter bit
I bought this bit for a horse that had been ridden in mainly western curb bits. He seems to really like the bit and salivates nicely in it. It's a great bit.

I bought this bit as a lunging bit as my mare goes in a ported bit normally. She loved this bit so much that I can school her in it as well and save the other bit for shows.

My horse LOVES this bit!
My 20 year old Arab gelding has been going in a Dee ring snaffle for as long as I know. I decided to try something different, but not too different. This is essentially what he's used to but with the addition of a copper French link. I had no problems the first time I put it in his mouth and now he practically swallows it when I bridle him. He really likes the copper. Happy horse and happy rider.

Perfect bit for the price
I have a 17 hands OTTB with a sensitive mouth & i've searched & searched for a thinner bit with copper and even willing to spend $170 for a good bit until I saw this JP Korsteel Hunter Dee. At first I thought the oval copper seemed big but when I put in on my horse it worked perfectly well and he loves it. The rings are a bit wider but since I have a big horse its OK because what I was looking for is a thinner bit because some bit may have smaller ring but the metal are so thick and bulky. My horse and I are so happy with this bit and I definitely recommend it.
