Next Best Thing to My Heated Blanket
During the cold months, I tend to not ride or even go out to the barn. I’m cold natured and a thin human so I’m usually uncomfortable and the barn is just a miserable time. I saw this jacket on smartpak and I put it on my list of things to purchase. And I’m SO GLAD I did!! This jacket keeps me WARM. From my neck to my knees!! I am super impressed with how I don’t get overwhelmingly hot when I ride too! I loved it so much I bought a 2nd one in another color ☺️ Thanks smartpak for keeping me warm!

Not what I expected for my first down coat
I thought it would be puffier based on the pictures. Sadly, I was mistaken. This coat came in a tiny box, not much larger than a shoe box which alone surprised me. The down is very minimal it's hard to belive it's 200gms. Lastly, and which I'm very sad about, is the zipper is impossible. It comes to right above your knee where you zip it up at and you have to bend over and fumble all around trying to get it to align. Or, you can hike the coat up when you get frustrated. I also wore it outside and I'm worried it won't keep me warm at the barn below 30. I was desperate to get a warmer barn coat and don't want to layer. My other fake fur coats I don't have to layer. I May return it still thinking but I'm desperate for a long winter barn coat. I got it half off and I'm still disappointed. I'd never, ever pay full price for this flat coat. Again, the down is so minimal and very hard to feel beneath the fabric. It would need double the down for cold winters with wind chill in the minus 20's which Texas gets.

Great value
I’ve had this a month and the temp has been in the teens to 30s. For the price, this is an awesome and well made jacket keeping me more than warm enough in the barn. It’s too warm to ride in, but good for trails when you’re not moving.

Warm and functional
I was hesitant to buy this jacket. After wearing it to do night check and for early morning rides I cannot believe that I waited so long. The quality is amazing. The length is perfect (5’ tall, 130#, a bit curvy up top and I wear a XS). The fit is very flattering. And it is SO WARM!

GREAT Coat
I bought this coat at the end of last "winter season". It's already cold here in Kansas so I've been wearing it again..and I ABSOLUTELY love it. It's warm, comfortable, covers me up so my clothes do not get dirty, anyone wanting a "barn coat" or even a riding coat I would highly recommend. IT's my GO TO every time I do chores. The only reason I'm giving it a 4 rating is the zipper just broke...I called and they are sending me a new coat! GREAT customer service!

only good to about 30 degrees
I totally thought that from the pic it was way way way more puffy. Fits well, I like the way I can easily ride in it with the vents in back. NOT at all rain or water resistant. If you get it more than slightly wet it will soak in very quickly and thoroughly. Not as warm as I thought or would have liked. I has almost No down in it at all. I can let you know in the future how it holds up. I have only had it for about a month or so. I definitely can add more review if It doesn't hold up!!

Very warm!
I bought this jacket about six weeks ago and have worn it several times. It is very warm and I love the coverage that it provides over my lower body. The zipper is difficult to operate however. I wish they had gone to the trouble of putting in a higher quality zipper on this product. Perhaps next time.

Beautiful color
I bought this a few weeks ago , I loved it so much that I purchased a second coat in the spruce for myself . Warm , excellent to ride in , fit is true to size . The sleeves have a elastic wrist to keep the wind out . The neck has the same feature . The pictures do not truly show the rich , beautiful color of this coat . The zippers are very sturdy and can open at either end so you can sit in the saddle and the coat covers the thigh area . I promise you’ll love this coat . This is a perfect a Christmas gift for yourself or the horse person in your life . I bought two and do not regret these purchases . The coat is of medium weight. However , it is very toasty warm . You will not need extra layers or freeze in this longer coat . You’ll be so warm , you’ll actually be able to hang out with your horse longer than usual without turning into a human popsicle !

Fantastic coat! Looks and warmth
This coat is so neat! I bought one for a friend after I got mine. The zippers in the back work great and the seaming is so flattering. Here in Minnesota we need real down coats and this one is 90% down and 250 gram fill, it's warm!! This is an amazing quality coat for the price! My thighs and body stay super warm and riding bareback is so cozy. The sleeves are very long, be aware. Buy it!

Nice Coat
I purchased this coat last year and am finally getting around to reviewing it. I ordered a size up from my usual size so I could add laters underneath. It covers my thighs well in the saddle and is very warm. It has held up through multiple washings and I’m actually not dreading winter riding this year! It kept me riding through the worst of winter. One thing I would recommend as an improvement would be straps to keep the coat from flapping off my thighs in high winds or when I am cantering. Otherwise, it’s a great coat for the price

Great idea, could be better made
I got this coat for Christmas. I am 5'8" 145 lbs and got the small. It fits pretty well, a bit roomy in the torso but I can layer under it. It covers a lot -- the cuffs on the sleeves and around the neck are great. It is comfortable to ride in and covers my thighs well. Kept me riding on some of the coldest days. Big pockets so my phone can fit comfortably while I ride. However, it has sprung several holes in the lining though and the zipper now only works sometimes. The lining has come away from the seams in random places like the hood (I hand it from the neck loop) and along the "skirt" part and in the sleeves. Like I said, it is a roomy fit, so I don't feel like I'm putting a lot of pressure on it. I have ridden in it a total of three times and worn it to the barn about 20 times for care for 2 horses. I will keep using it but I wish it held up better.

Nice coat
I’ve had this coat for almost two months. It has held up well. I e we usher it had an interior pocket and that I had bought a bigger size. The lining at one cuff has separated. The snaps tend to get snagged on baler twine and hay. It is a warm coat.

Perfect for Tall Trsiners!
I recently purchased this coat to wear while teaching lessons. I am 5'10" size 14 and the size XL coat fit perfectly in arm length and hit at my calf keeping me nice and warm while standing in cold arenas! The coat is roomy enough to wear big sweaters or sweatshirts under which is sn added plus!

High Quality Materials
I bought this to wear for Minnesota winters (and the occasional southern cold snap) and was very pleased with the materials and general design, but the sizing and proportions were off and I ended up returning it. (Shout out to SmartPak's excellent customer service that makes this a painless process!)
The coat was super warm and the material felt soft, but would definitely shed hay, shavings, and other barn debris. The cuffs and collar are a ribbed, stretchy fabric.
I'm five feet tall with a curvy build and ordered an XL, which is the appropriate range for my measurements, but it was comically huge--it looked and felt like I was wearing a sleeping bag. While exchanging for a smaller size might have helped some of the fit issues, I opted just to return the coat because the sleeves were comically long and the pockets were too low, as the coat is clearly designed for a tall person with much longer arms than mine. As a short person, I am accustomed to having sleeves go to my fingertips, but these extended about four inches past the ends of my fingers. I somehow doubt a smaller size would have fixed that particular issue.

Love this coat!
I simply love this coat! It's not bulky at all but it sure is warm. The two zippers in the back which allow you to ride in it are wonderful. The only improvement I would suggest is to add leg straps so that it doesn't flap around when you ride in the wind.
