"Der Gute" curry, which translates into "The Good One", effectively massages the horse’s back and removes stubborn dirt. For most grooms this is also a must-have to swipe the dirt and dust of their brushes during the cleaning process. Too hard
Plastic is very stiff with sharp ridges and teeth. Both my horses hate it. Much too rough. Not what I expected, esp for the price

Great Curry!
Both my horse and I like this curry! It's plastic so it's not too harsh but gets all the dirt off. I especially like that I can wash it off after I use it as it does collect the dirt/hair.

Works great!
I never thought I would be reviewing a curry comb, but this one works so well! I've been using it on my sensitive thoroughbred for a few weeks now, and he seems to really enjoy the feeling. It picks up so much more dust, dirt, hair, etc than the rubber curry I used for years ever did! I am astonished, and so pleased with all the Haas brushes. Now our grooming sessions go on for a lot longer, and my horse looks fantastic!

Works Great!
I literally have a bucket full of curry combs in an effort to find one my sensitive TB mare would like. She tolerates this better than any of the others i have purchased, including super soft rubber ones - and it works fantastic and bringing up dirt and removing loose hair and it is super easy to keep clean. My curry buying days are over - this is a keeper!

OMG! Totally Surprised!
I got this because of the information given and reviews.
However, I was quite skeptical.
I have purchased so many curry combinations over the years, all metal, as all horse world had advertised. Then this comes along, people I have but a few words, JUST GET IT.
Works 100% better than any other curry out there. I know what you are thinking, because I thought it too.
PS and btw, completely comfortable as well.

Hard plastic, but surprisingly gentle
This is a hard plastic curry comb, which I didn't realize when ordering it. When I received it, I assumed that my thin-skinned thoroughbred would hate it. But, much to my surprise, he objects less to this curry comb than to the rubber curry comb I'd been using before.

Best Curry Ever! The only one I’ll ever use!
I have use the Der Gute curries for over 10 years....seriously the best! My sensitive TB loved the hard plastic version...it’s as light as can be, when you don’t apply pressure, or hard and scrubby in the itchy spots! He really hated anything rubbery that would ‘pull’ on the hairs. My new TB seems to like this newer, softer version of the Der Gute...still a bit firm but does have a bit of ‘pull’ on the hair shaft. I’d love to find the hard plastic version. Off to Germany I go!

Hard plastic, not for every day
Its hard plastic and has basically no give. Its too harsh for sensitive horses or a thin coat. It is excellent for thick coats or a really muddy horse. I still use a rubber curry on a daily basis but keep this around for muddy days. It is good quality like all Haas brushes.

Old School really works best
I decided to give this curry a try and am glad I did - I've used every curry out there and at the end of the day this one does the best job of actually trapping the dirt and removing it from the coat. Plenty of other curries will bring dirt to the surface but most do nothing to remove it. The only downside is this curry would not be for a sensitive skin horse in my opinioin but HAAS makes another model that is not as firm.

Effective but loud
I *love* my small rubber curry, so I probably should've replaced it with the same thing, but I wanted to try something new. This curry is about twice the size, so it's a bit unwieldy in my small hands.
It is quite effective at pulling up hair and (especially) dirt. It then holds the dirt nicely until whacked against a boot, which cleans it out easily.
My horse -- who ordinarily quite likes being groomed -- isn't crazy about it; he seems to prefer the softer rubber curry to this unyielding hard plastic. I don't use it anywhere except on big muscle groups because he flinches from it on anything softer-skinned or remotely bony.
What I dislike most, though, is how LOUD it is. Especially when my horse is caked in mud, this makes a ton of noise as it scrrrrrapes across his coat. I basically don't use it anymore.

glides over my horses's coat
It was time to replace my rubber curry and I chose this based on previous reviews. I like how this glides over my horse's coat and doesn't seem to pull the hairs, but rather, gently removes caked on mud and debris. I use this and the Haas Diamond Wurzel Brush to groom and finish with a shine.

Hard plastic
Is good to use for scapping off brushes and caked on dirt, not as abrasive as a steel curry. Not rubber and is large so the handle is helpful for small hands.

I've bought a few of these and have used them on five horses thus far, and got the nose quivering approval from every single one of them. No idea how it's really so different, but I have never gotten so much hair and dirt out with just a curry. And I've never seen three of the horses literally shift around to show me their 'itchy spots' to curry more. Great results, and will definitely save you time in the next steps of your grooming. Extremely happy SP has begun carrying the Haas brushes.

this is a very simple curry comb. lightweight, almost flimsy, but will last forever and my horse seems to prefer it to a jelly comb I used to use. comfortable in my hand and easy to clean.

A Different Type of Curry Comb
Even though this curry comb is plastic it does a great job of lifting the dirt so it can be easily brushed away. As an added bonus the horses like the feel of this curry comb. I would recommend this to all horse owners.

Surprisingly simple design--amazing results
I have a sensitive TB mare, who always balks at being curried. I tried all kinds of rubber curries (soft, hard, small, large), and curry gloves...but she never really tolerated any of them well, and I never felt that the glove options (the option she likes best) gave a "deep" enough clean (even if I spent a LOT of time currying and re-currying). I got this curry because it was highly recommended to me, and because it wasn't a huge investment ($6 compared to the other Haas grooming tools is a steal!). My mare is still unhappy being curried, but no more so than with any other tool (and maybe even less so on her less sensitive spots like her butt), but the amount of filth this gets to the surface is incredible. There's something about the design that really pulls the dirt UP, so that it sits on top of the coat, or gets trapped in the curry grooves. And the curry itself is very easy to clean. She has never looked better.

Best Curry Ever!
This is the only curry I'll use! My TB doesn't like the rubber curries - they seem to "grip" the hair. He LOVES the Haas Der Gute! you can curry as light as you want - or really scrub (those scritchy places by the wither.....) and your horse will love it! Super easy to clean, too! So glad SP has started to carry Haas!!
