Hungry Houdini pony gets mask off!
Mask is heavy, well constructed and easy to attach to halter. Attached this BF grazing muzzle to pony's halter with Velcro. Within a day he figured out how to get Velcro open and his nose between halter and mask. Used zip ties over Velcro for added security and placed his fly mask over halter, hoping to thwart his clever escape tactics. He now has rubs on his face in multiple spots so we taking a break for a bit.

Grazing muzzle
It worked out ok in that it controlled the quantity of grass intake however there were deep rubs on my horse's nose and chin. Even after I put padding on the rims, the rubs were still occurring.

Great Product for my Easy Keeper Mini
This grazing muzzle is perfect for my easy keeper Mini. He lives with his older gelding friend of many years and my daughter's 16yo TB. So when they are turned out for the day, there is plenty of hay available. The mini has always been plump and I need to control how much he eats. This muzzle is perfect! It attaches to his regular halter with sturdy velcro and is lose enough on his face to not cause rubs. Great product!

Works well can save lives
I have been using these for years, the bottom eventually wears out after about 2 years. and smart horses can get them off if you aren't smarter. Also they will rub off hair. I use lamb skin for halters on various spots on the muzzle and have eliminated hair loss. But if you have a laminitic horse this will save it's life. If you have questions or need pictures I can post some later. I use a very thin halter other wise my horse can rub the thick standard ones of her ears on a tree or a fence whatever she can rub on. Laminitis is so common and so painful use this and save your animal.

my poor horse
I got this muzzle a few weeks ago. The opening for grass is very small, but I was ok with that. The first thing I noticed was that the muzzle is very heavy. It pulled down quite a bit on the halter and I don't think is comfortable for my horse. Also, it's not very adjustable. You can pretty much just hook it up to the halter, and hope you have an adjustable halter. Because of this, the muzzle sits a little bit lower than I'd like. My horse has a hard time breathing with it on. I can hear the difference in how he breathes with it on, and with it off. Not such a great thing with the awful heat, and running with his buddies. Last thing, and probably the worst, is its rubbing him. It's rubbed the hair off of him in several places. I had to remove it and put medicine on it. This may be a good muzzle if used for about 5 or less hours a day. My horse wears it during the day, and off at night. I had a tough one easy breath muzzle before. I loved everything about it (everything that was bad about this muzzle, was perfect with the other one), except that my horse broke it. The one thing better about this muzzle is that it's sturdier. Going to have to find a different muzzle I think...

One tough muzzle!
I bought two of these grazing muzzles for our neighbors' minis, and am extremely pleased so far with the durability and the secureness of them. Much to the minis' dismay, these muzzles can't be rubbed or pried off, and good luck trying to gnaw their way thru them! Doesn't seem to be uncomfortable for them( just annoying!) as I don't find any wear marks on their faces. A real winner!

I have 2 Paso Finos that are overweight (mother and son) and both are very creative at getting things off of their face that they don't like. They have given these muzzles a real workout...rubbing on trees, trying to pull off using lip of watering trough....you name it they have tried it all......so far......muzzles still on!

Awesome-Really works!
I bought this muzzle for my mini-horse about one month ago. He does get kind of sad when I have to put it on him, but I think he realizes he gets to go graze once it is on. Before the muzzle he would gorge himself just in a few minutes and then he would bloat and his poop would become runny. Now is he able to graze when the other horse does. Really worth the money.

Solved my obesity problem
I have easy keepers & last year they porked up before I used the grazing muzzles. I have found by trial & error that the muzzle that attaches to the horses harness works better than the muzzle all in one i.e which comes as a halter with attached muzzle. My 4 horses were successful in removing this one but could not remove the muzzle attached to their own halter.

Like it very much
I have tried using other grazing muzzles, the ones like a halter, but I had trouble keeping them on. both my horse and pony were able to slip them off within a day or two, but this one with the velcro works! and it doesn't rub him like the other one did. great product! would recommend!

Great muzzle, but runs very small!
First, the size issue. I ordered the cob size for our 13 hh pony. It was way too small. He couldn't even open his mouth. He needs the horse size. One of our boarders had to get the extra large for her horse with a typical size head.
Second, the actual muzzle. The actual muzzle is great. It is sturdy, effective and has not created any rubs around the nose.
We have had only one issue. If the Velcro is extended too fat, it is very easy for the horse to rub off.
I paired this with nylon Velcro breakaway halter sold by Smartpak. So, I feel like out pony is very safe. I can also easily replace one component or the other if I ever need to.
I would buy again knowing the adjustment I would need to make in size.

Very sturdy
This grazing muzzle is very sturdy and is easy to put on or take off. It is effectively keeping my pony from ballooning, and seems to be relatively comfortable for him to wear.

Not effective!
I bought this for my pony to ease him into the spring grass because he was getting a bit gassy from it. The vet suggested I try a grazing muzzle or limit his turnout until he was used to the grass. I didn't want to keep him inside on nice days, so I decided to try the muzzle. He could not figure out how to use it at all. I followed all the "training" instructions that came with it, and he could not get any grass, long or short! He ended up being absolutely miserable outside and couldn't wait to come in because he knew he would get the muzzle off and be able to eat. I also was told he was lying in front of the gate the other day because he had given up on trying to graze in his field. I did end up cutting a bigger hole in it to see if that would help, but I honestly haven't even tried because I don't want my pony to associate being outside with being unhappy. I'd rather limit his turnout for a few weeks than make him depressed with this thing. I gave a 5 on quality because it is made well, and if my pony did try to take it off, it didn't budge. Other than that, it just isn't for me.

High quality muzzle - very small fit
I bought a cob size muzzle for our 13 hh Quarter Pony. He wears a pony bridle and cob halter. The cob size muzzle wouldn't even fit over his mouth let alone give him room to open his mouth to eat.
We easily returned the muzzle for a horse size the horse size fits him well.
The muzzle easily attaches to his breakaway halter. He has not managed to pull it off or get it caught on anything. He has not come in with any rubs.
Last year, he chewed through the hole enough to double size the hole by the end of the season. So, I went with the separate basket to make replacement easier in the future as needed.

Not as good as the muzzle with the built-in halter
I decided to use this with a leather halter instead of the all-in-one last summer and it was alright but not great. It didn't really fit well on my halter and I had to put electrical tape to keep the velcro attached after about 2 weeks of my horse wearing it on night turnout. Although you may have to replace the all-in-one if your horse breaks it, it definitely is worth the extra money for a better fit.

Necessary Evil
While this is the necessary evil for my Friesian and Friesian cross...it wears on them. It is not long enough in the nose for my cross mare and it causes rub/wear spots all over for them. It has to be miserable to wear!!! All that said, it does do the intended job with controlling the amount of cany grass they are consuming. I have covered them in fleece (hand sewn) and then purchased sheepskin nose covers. I do not know how well they can breathe with teh sheepskin but I knwo they are less bloody from it.

Good quality but rubs
I bought this grazing muzzle for my mare so she can graze on the rich spring grass without getting gas colic. I bought a separate halter and left it attached so that it wouldn't have to be put on every time. The velcro was easy to use but it doesn't seem to have enough adjustment. I see after a week or so of daily use that she has rubbed down to the skin on the underside of her jaw. I think I will line this with fleece so she can continue to wear it comfortably. It is a bit heavy and awkward at first. I think I like the all canvas ones better but I think this one will hold up longer.

This muzzle is working well on our Haflinger gelding who has foundered. It allows him some time out every day with his pals, and seems very sturdily made. In fact, it's a little bit heavy, but I would rather it be sturdy than worry about wear and tear.

Great muzzle just one flaw
This muzzle is great, I have a Haflinger mare that cannot have to much grass or she will have health problems and this muzzle has solved the problem of her eating to much. The only problem with it is that it has to many straps and takes a while to get it on and to make sure that it is fitting correctly. Other than that I am happy that I bought this muzzle and not another one.

Good muzzle...does the job
I had to muzzle to insulin resistant horses this spring because our grass was so lush this year. One pony never could figure out how to eat through the muzzle, but at least she was out with her friends, and in the sun. My Friesian mare figured out how to eat through the little hole, so the muzzle worked great. Both muzzles stayed on, inspite of the ponies dramatic attempts to rub it off. Of course...with any such equipment, use caution regarding the horse getting caught on things...safety halters are a good idea. .

Miss Piggy Loves it
My Kentucky Mountain horse eats like she will never get another meal. Her obvious roundish shape says otherwise. She is in the corral a lot but I like her to get exercise, and with this grazing muzzle she can run and kick in between bites! (I've seen her do this). She would like to rub it off but hasn't managed to do that and I have her out all day in it. It even fit into the small waterers we have.

Grazing Muzzle
I recommend this to anyone with a horse that can't keep his mouth quiet. This stopped the continual purchase of lead ropes to replace those chewed in half. It also allows me to tie up my horses and not have them chewing the arena rails or stall fronts. Love it!
