Gamgee Absorbant Pad is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Stuff! A couple of months ago, my gelding was goofing off on a steep muddy slope, lost his footing and slid on his butt until he crashed into cyclone fencing. His leg slid under the fencing and he obtained a horrible gash. I was not prepared for this type of wound and has to resort to cutting up some baby diapers to use as a wound covering until the vet arrived. I decided to purchase a roll of the Gamgee Absorbant Pad to keep on hand in the event we ever had another emergency. Thank goodness I haven't had a need to use for an emergency. However, today my gelding was so chill, I decided it was as good a time as any to clean his sheath. I couldn't locate the small rags that I generally use for this job but did spot my roll of Gamgee. I decided to cut a square off and use it for job. Wow! Perfect alternative use for this stuff. Cut whatever size you need. It so extremely soft and gentle. You can extend it out flat or wad up in a ball to get right up in there. I'll be using this every time it's sheath cleaning day! And if that's all I get to use it for, I'll be glad with that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cotton padding EVER! Thankfully I don't need to use this often but when I do I am THANKFUL I have it!  The ONLY wound wrap I will use!  Easy to cut to fit, the non-stick cover is awesome and also keeps it together so its not falling apart as your trying to wrap a cranky, fidgety injured horse!  This is a must have for my first aid kit!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 18 inches? They should offer this in an 18 inch version, that's my only complaint. For a hind leg injury 12 inches is just not enough. The pad itself is great but it's not long enough for a back leg wrap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gamgee absorbant pad This is the only absorbent pad we use. It helps the wounds heal better by not allowing pieces of cotton to get into the wound! Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great wrap! Great wrap to bandage wounds, used over the top of a four x four pad and cover with vet wrap. Helped keep swelling down and prevented bandage rubs. I always keep this on hand!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great to keep on hand these rolls are great. you can use the entire roll, or you can cut off as much as you need. can double as shipping/standing wraps in a pinch. I bought at least 6 rolls for an injured horse, and it's been almost a month and I still have 3 rolls left. they last a long time or they provide thick padding if needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An absolute necessity in a First Aid kit I have used this for years - mainly in my first aid kit for padding under bandages to hold dressings in place - but also as padding under exercise bandages. An absolute staple!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always have on hand My favorite leg bandage material. It never gets stuck to the wound and holds up well. If I'm in a bind and have to use it for standing wraps, it can be re-used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the price It is so hard to find a cotton/wool dressing! This product kept my mare's legs nicely wrapped until her puffy Wilker's wraps arrived and I have also used it over wounds when I was worried about the horse rubbing them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So many uses! I have used this stuff for so many different things! Right now, its padding my mare's foot against the hard ground after losing a shoe, and three weeks ago it was covering a back leg after a kicking injury. The cover can be pulled away and you can use the insides as gauze. It's easily cut into any size and shape with a good pair of scissors. I use it with vetwrap or a standing bandage to secure- it also saves my expensive pillow wraps (for traveling, but have been used in emergencies) from nasty stains, lengthening their lives, as well.Great stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellant bandage I had a horse step into a ground hog hole and tore up the front of his back leg. This was a great bandage for protection and kept his wounds clean. Highly recommend. I hope I don't have to use it again but glad they made something like this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Staple First Aid Item I purchased this product as a first aid kit item, and BOY has it come in useful! I used this padding during the past two months while my horse recovered from a serious hoof puncture and subsequent abscess. I would cut out "pads" from the roll and use them to cover my horse's sole/frog, then wrap with Vetwrap and then a duct tape boot. It is a cheaper alternative to buying loads of gauze pads and it holds up well when I needed to hand-walk my horse. It is easy to use, easy to cut into bandages for specific injuries. I think it would also be a wonderful wrap for legs (under vetwrap for injuries, for ex). I won't go without this product in my first aid kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank Goodness For Gamgee Gamgee saved the day when my husband's mare lacerated her front leg. The vet stitched her and gave me strict instructions to keep the wound padded and wrapped for two weeks. If you have ever tried to wrap a horse's upper leg, you know what a huge undertaking this is. Gamgee is definately the best product for the job. Not only does it keep the wound padded and dry, it is absorbent and does not stick to the wound like cotton roll (what a mess that was!) It is easy to shape or cut to size as well. After this experience I will never be caught without it in my emergency kit again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for those hard to wrap areas! This product was a life saver when it came to wrapping my horse's hind leg when he was injured. His injury was at his hock, which the Vet was unable to be stitch so I had to keep it clean and wrapped for several weeks. These pads were so easy to maneuver and kept the wound clean and dry. I would recommend that these pads be an addition to any horse owner's first aid kit. Great product!
