Rated 1 out of 5 by Betsie from WORST purchase of boots I bought these to replace my beloved pair of Ariats I’ve had for 4-5 years and done literally everything in; groomed in, ridden in, mucked in, walked several miles a day in… they were sooo comfortable and well loved and took some hard abuse and the lining finally tore (such a sad day for me!). Anyways I have worn these to the barn for a week (no hard work/chores just walking around in) and was concerned at how hard, uncushioned and flat the soles/footbed felt… figured I just needed to give them a bit of time to break in and get used to them. NOPE!! I’m down at WEC Ocala grooming right now (literally as I’m writing this) and my feet are KILLING me so badly that I am limping! My feet are sore to the touch everywhere on the bottoms, burning, aching, my toes hurt, and I have one of the worst blisters I’ve ever had on one of my heels. I’m dreading having to wear these tomorrow/the rest of the week and just spent money on blister bandaids and insoles just so I can hopefully work the rest of the week. Also the huge gap in the back calf part of the boots allows a more-than-normal amount of hay/shaving to fall down the back of the boot all day so that’s fun as well. I did order a size up from my normal shoe size as per other reviews and would definitely agree that they do run small… the size I ordered fits in length but is a bit wide side-to-side (I have narrow feet however so this is a fairly common issue for me). In general AWFUL boots BAD purchase DO NOT buy unless you just want to stand around looking pretty all day. The only good things about these are they are indeed very waterproof (I’ve bathed 3 horses several times over the past 2 days) and they are cute/fashionable. If it is at all possible to return them for at least a partial refund at this point I would gladly do so; I’d rather part of what I paid for these back to put towards a new pair of something (probably Ariats, so mad I gave these Dubarrys a try based on the good reviews and styling) than have a $500 pair of barn boots I can’t actually do anything in.

The pair I received had obviously been returned more than once - the box was beat up and the tissue tattered. Small wonder when I tried on. Ordered my regular size, could not get my foot past the ankle opening with a skinny sock no matter how hard I pulled on the side tabs. My foot is an average width and instep - not sure who these are being made for. It's a beautiful boot and disappointing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Court from Footbed runs small I absolutely love these boots and have even ridden in them! My only complaint is that I found the footbed runs small. I take a 39 in everything and had to order a 40 in this boot, as it felt like the circulation in my foot was being cut off. This had nothing to do with the calf as I found that part of the boot to be quite generous.

Sometimes I buy tack, boots or whatever and I love, love it. i write a review and then a few months later, things are not working out. The item is falling apart etc. Been there; done that. I was cleaning weeks of ranch grubby, muddy, stuff off my Clare boots after riding in them virtually ever day while wearing them for hours of warm, dry comfort. The boots look great - very little obvious wear. How often does that happen almost a year later? Just thought you might like to know!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Joce from I love these boots! These boots arrived the day before I left for a 3-day clinic - where it rained all three days. Muck. muck, and more muck. These boots were pretty comfortable Day One: by Day Three, I didn't want to take them off. I hosed them off after feeding and mucking in an exposed round pen. I rode in them every day. The only problem was when my rain slicker channeled rainwater into the top of the boots! Even then, my jeans and socks kept the water from seeping too far down. The boots dried out for wearing again after lunch, and certainly for the next day. They were SUPER for riding in the clinic.

I own a pair of Dubarry Galway slim fits and had I known then what I know now... well the Clare boots are so much more elegant. My good friend bought the Clare boot about 3 months ago. We both wear the same size shoe. So I tried her boots on. Her Clare boots, a size 40 (we both wear a size US 9) were generous on my slim foot. When my size 40 Clare boots arrived, they were snug and I was bummed. My friend said: Be patient. What I discovered is the leather softened, stretched and became easy to get on and off with the finger pulls after 3 days. My Galway boots were snug when they arrived and they never stretched at all. The Clare boot is quite a different beast and yet it is a tough, durable boot. Unless you have high arches, I don't agree with SP advice about buying "up" in size. I find the Clare boot actual MORE generous than the same size Galway footbed. I also find the firm foot bed feels wonderful without any inserts or extra padding if you happen to have plantar fasciitis as another reviewer noted. The Galway is narrower and lower in the heel, does not provide the same foot comfort. The only negative - I have quite slim calves and the boot is very generous at the top. If you don't like that look, it may not be the boot for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by hannah from These boots can do it all! I have had these boots for a few weeks now. They have survived trudging through mud, rivers, oceans and snow flawlessly. I bought them to be a boot I could use to ride my motorcycle, wear to work, hike in if I wanted to and then go to dinner in, and these have been exactly what they say they are. As some of the other reviewers have stated, they are difficult to get on and off. It has gotten easier over time, but they are still difficult. Once on they are very comfortable. I have fairly high arches, and the tops of my feet hurt after a full day of wearing them, but that has gotten better over time too. getting them wet and then wearing them all day has helped stretch them out. I have not regretted buying these expensive boots at all.

The are rather bulky looking and just dont fit my feet well. They were returned and I am trying another brand.
