Instructions for Use:
Manes: Spray the fine mist over the mane and brush or comb through well.
Tails: Hold the tail away from the horse, then gently drop sections of the hair through the mist spray. Brush through with a soft body brush or comb.
For best results, shampoo first with Gallop Shampoo. Can be used on wet or dry hair. Results are immediate and last for up to 2 weeks.

A Must-Have for the Grooming Kit
This detangler is a must-have for any grooming kit, and there's a reason it's so popular- it really works! This is my go-to product for knotted manes and tails. Both of my horses have fairly thick/long tails and I use this product to keep them tangle-free without causing damage to the hair. Especially in the summer when they are swishing their tails a lot, this is perfect for getting rid of the dreadlocks and keeping everything smooth and soft.
Although a bit more pricey than other options, this bottle is large and lasts a long time. It's also very easy to apply and smells fantastic. I always apply this after a bath or before brushing out my horses' tails to prevent hair breakage.
If you're looking for an effective detangling spray for everyday grooming, I highly recommend the Canter Silk as an excellent option for all horses!

Protects Mane and Tail
I use this before I brush out my horse's mane and tail and it makes the job easier with less hair breakage. It doesn't build up. It does make the hair slick so don't use under the saddle area.

amazing product
I have been using this product for over 20 years! Everywhere I go with my horses, comments are always coming about their beautiful full tails. I use it every time I groom them, spray in generously - you can comb through it wet or dry. It leaves the tails glistening and flowing without leaving a residue for dirt and grime to stick to. I also will spray through manes when I am not having to braid. Addicted to this product!

Worth every penny!
I have paid less for other products and thought some of them were pretty good. But wow! Yes this is expensive, and the bottle seems small compared to other brands. But the first time I used it, it last well over a week before it needed a refresh and now it's been a couple weeks and still no tangles! The mane and tail seem to stay cleaner too, even with rolls in the mud. I will definitely be buying again.

FINALLY! A better spray bottle!
I have used this product for close to 20 years and have always struggled with the sprayer. It would get clogged, and then I couldn't get the container open to de-clog the tube or move the liquid to a different spray bottle.
The fact that the manufacturers have finally abandoned that plastic annoyance is almost as thrilling as discovered that extra stash of Halloween candy you forgot you had saved!

A staple at our barn to reduce hair breakage
This product works well to repel stains and to keep mane and tail hairs supple. I have a mostly white gray horse, and many conditioners attract dirt. This is one of the go-to products to help him stay clean and his main and tail are in excellent condition.I like the fact that Smartpak has returned to the spray bottle instead of the weird top that didn't work well.

3 different spray bottles broke
Amazing product, terrible bottles. I received my 1st bottle as a gift, loved the product but the spray mechanism on the bottle broke after about the 6th or 7th use. I thought it was a fluke, so I went and bought 2 more bottles because I loved the product so much, I was willing to try again. Both of those 2 new bottles broke after just a few uses, and I was unable to open the top to empty out the contents, so bottom line is 3 bottles were wasted. About $60 wasted, and cannot find contact for company. Will never buy again, will not recommend.

This conditioner works so well on my 28 year old Morgan's thick tail. It protects the tail from getting really dirty and makes it very easy to brush without breaking off hairs.

Great product & now the bottle is great, too!
I've used Canter Silk for years and I think it is, by far, the best product for maintaining a glorious tail. In my last review, I complained about the spray bottle it came in. This stuff is great. Nice and soft. Easy to brush through the mane and tail. I have found that it works better if I put it in a different squirt bottle as the one it comes in seems to stop working after awhile.

I think I've brought 2 bottles so far and both have broken down on me halfway. The spray just stops spraying. The product is wonderful and I really like how it works. I may switch to a different product solely because the bottle sucks.

Good Product but terrible bottle sprayer
This is a great product that works well on my horse's tail. HOWEVER, the bottle is beyond useless. The product clogs easily and then you can't spray it or use it so I hesitate to ever buy it again knowing the problem. If they could just fix their spray mechanism that would be fabulous.

Great product - useless packaging!
I've been a loyal user of this spray for years. The new-ish packaging / sprayer, however, clogs in a short time, and there's not way to fix it (and I shouldn't have to). Too bad! I'm not going to use this any more.

Great product, not great packaging
I was very excited to order this product because I had heard great things about it! When I got it in the mail, it was leaking everywhere despite Smartpak packing and taping it up properly...hey, that's what you get for ordering products like this in the mail, so I wasn't too worried about it! I used the product 1-2 times and it smelled great and conditioned my mare's tail and mail very well .... but then the spraying mechanism broke. I can't get any product out unless I take the cap off and apply it with my hands, which kind of defeats the purpose of the 360 spray design. Maybe I just got an unlucky bottle....kinda disappointed!

Great, but bottle broke
My trainer recommended this product. I was really liking it so far, but the sprayer mechanism broke by the third use or so. I can't use it at all now :( I'm pretty gentle on my things, so I think the design may be defective. Hopefully if I get a different spray bottle I can still use the product!

Carr & Day & Martin Canter Silk Mane & Tail Conditioner is a super product. The only problem it has is SUCH a long name! So just call it "Canter". Anyway, everyone at my dressage and eventing barn loves this product, because it helps to grow luxurious tails (minimizes breakage) and keeps them very clean. Many similar products look good at first, but then tend to attract dirt. If you have a white horse like me, this makes all the difference in the world. It used to come in a larger size, which I would like to see Smartpak carry in the future.

Fabulous!
I got this for Christmas. This stuff is amazing! First time I used it, I braided my mare's tail and put it in a bag. Due to health issues, I didn't get around to taking it down for about 4 weeks. I was expecting a huge mess when I took it down, but it was barely tangled. It took less than 10 minutes to shampoo, condition and comb out. It is totally worth the price tag!
