Instructions for Use:
Use one BugPellent for approximately every 4,000 cubic feet of indoor space.
- Identify areas that need protection from biting flies and other flying insects or ticks.
- Hang the BugPellent from a beam or other structure centrally located in a desgnated area that will enable proper air flow. Can also be located in or near a stall.
- Place tubes at least 6' inside barn entryways to ensure flying insects can escape.
- Refillable tubes sold separately
For example, a center aisle barn, 48' x 36' x 20', has an open area in the center aisle of approximately 6,900 cubic feet. Two BugPellent sticks should be used to reduce insect population for most of the barn, subject to air flow and openness of the barn. Additional units may be applied in or near stalls, as needed.

Might be helping but doesn't rid flies like it say
I bought three of these for my 3 stall barn and while it may be helping, there are still more flies than I'd like so I'm not sure they're really worth it.

It does deter flies
I board my horse in barn with no fly control for whole barn in Bay Area CA we are in hot bed of pigeon fever area. I have big stall double size with big turn out. I put one up and saw immediately after a day I had less flies and put a second one up and got better results. I spaced them out hung from ceiling. My stall I would estimate has 70% less flies then stall next to me. I put one on my back porch at home and it works amazing. It smells good as well.

it actually works
i had my doubts, because the barn where my horses live is on national park land and we have park people coming through all the time checking to make sure that the things we use are natural. so id resigned myself to the reality that my horses and i would just live our lives bitten, bothered, and covered in the nations meanest fly population. and i looked at this packaging and it said all natural, and uses only oils, and i was like ok so my stall will smell great and maybe one in 45 flies will leave me alone. but no. as i sit here, writing this review i’m my horses stall not even one fly is near me. not even in sight. i don’t know by what sorcery or witch craft or dark magic this works, but boy am i floored.

Great product for flying insect repellent in stall
I have used this product for several years in both MA and AL for horse stalls, chicken coops, and horse trailers. Seems to repel most kinds of flying insects. I replace the pellets when the odor is no longer strong, usually 4-6 weeks, depends on the amount of dust present in the area. At the end of fly season, I take them down, clean them out, store them for next year. I just bought another one for my horse at the trainer!

No Bugs in my barn
Every year I battle biting flys and other bugs. I use fly preditors and sprays which help greatly but I always have some bugs still in my barn. I have a 16’ x 36 loafing shed that is open on the south side. I put one of these in the top center of the 2 16’ x 12’ bays my horses use and there are no insects at all! No my horses can escape the bugs completely. I definitely recommend this product.

I was hoping for better results
I bought this a few weeks ago and was so excited! I had read great reviews and followed the instructions to the letter. I wanted this to work, but have yet to see it repels any flies.

Love the idea, didn't work beyond a few days.
I hung three in the barn per the instructions. They smelled nice and potent coming out of the book so we were very hopeful! They seemed to work well the first day and declined steadily over the next two days. By the third day they had flies ON them. Oh, well. At least it's autumn now so the bugs are going to be gone soon. We're planning on trying one more next spring to use on our patio, as it seems folks have had good results with that. It just doesn't seem to work well in the barn.

Best fly product ever !

Visible Difference
My horse is stabled at the local fairgrounds so I have no say in their fly management. After a couple of events during the summer, the flies come out in hoards - it's really gross. Last year we tried traps but I felt like attracting the flies to the general area of where my horse is lives isn't helpful, so this year I tried this repellent thing and it does work! I can't say there are no flies - there are still tons - but my mare is less bothered by them. I hung it in her stall, away from the door outside as per the instructions, and have noticed a decrease in the amount of flies actively flying in her stall and landing. I'll definitely buy refills and use it next fly season. Also, it smells wonderful!

It works really good around the picnic table and out by the pool. It works pretty good in my outdoor stalls too. I imagine it would work great in an indoor stall.

Worked better with 1st purchase
This is our 2nd purchase and this time around they are not keeping the flies out of the barn. Not sure why because the 1st purchase they worked great. They still have a strong citronella smell. I will continue to purchase as needed.

Worth a try
I can’t say this has made a huge difference in reducing flies in the stalls but every bit helps this summer. It has a really pleasant smell and may work better in a smaller space

Amazing!

Smells and works great!
I got this to hang in the aisle where I board. It's a small (5 stall) barn with only two horses right now. It smells great and the barn isn't buggy! I want to get one to hang in the back of my horses run in shed too.

Actually works so far
Has a strong smell right after you take it out of the packaging, but disaptes quickly. It seems to help keep the bugs away, not sure how long it will last but we’ll worth my horses comfort!

Great in my trailer
I hang two of these in my four horse trailer when hauling. Our horses stand on the trailer when they aren't showing and these are great at keeping the flies out, even with all the doors and windows open. To make them last longer, I put them in a ziplock between shows.

These work great and smell awesome!
I have bought several of these and have placed them around the horses water trough, loafing shed, and tack room, I don't see them swishing their tails as much and my tack room doesn't seem to have as many mosquitos. I will continue to purchase this item to help w/ fly and mosquito control

Natural Repellant That Works
I have been surprised by how well these work. My thoroughbred is super sensitive to the bugs and has a sprayer in his stall. I wanted something more cost-effective for the aisle. These have worked well for reducing the number of flies and therefore the stomping while grooming. Being environmentally friendly is a great bonus!

Made a big difference in my Barn's flies! It's so hot in my barn that I leave it very open but they would probably be even more effective if I closed it up some! Took care of the horse flies too!

Another "weapon" in fly/mosquito arsenal
We use these every year, spring through fall, in our two-stall barn. We hang them in each stall and in the aisle. While they will not eliminate the flying pest problem, they certainly DO reduce the number of flies and mosquitoes. We buy the refills and "renew" as necessary. The scent is very pleasant.

Surprisingly effective!
I have a 2 stall barn and hung these up (1 in each stall) about 6 weeks ago. I am very impressed. It really works. I switched the repellent after 3 weeks as opposed to 4 when I noticed more flies. We have had a ton of rain here and so it is very humid; prime fly weather so far I am pleased with the results!
