Good fly repellent
I’ve used Bronco Gold for years alternating with Ultra Shield and Endure. I spray my stalls as well as the horses. We have very few flies.

Excellent and Moisturizing!
I really like the Bronco Gold. It leaves my horses skin moist...doesn't dry her skin out and flies are not a problem. With stall maintenance and grooming she is good for the Summer and thereafter!

Works Great!
I have tried other products in the past, including regular Bronco fly spray, but they don't work very well. This stuff is like Gold! (pun intended). Seriously, it keeps flies off. If I get there and flies are already on, one spray will knock them to the ground. Great stuff!

Used Bronco Gold by Farnam on my 15 year old Grey Dutch Warmblood gelding, he had an adverse reaction. He displayed large welts all over his body after 24 hours all in the places I sprayed it. Washed it all off immediately with medicated colloidal oatmeal shampoo. Today some of the welts have gone down while two specific ones started to ooze yellow and crust over....his two front legs also swelled up from the product dripping down during the wash. I am horrified and wish I would have looked at this thread before I put my poor baby through this. Am using laser therapy and Benadryl gel to keep the swelling down, I am hoping for a swift and hopefully scarless recovery.

DO NOT USE!!!
My horses broke out in hives after I applied this product per the packaging directions. Choose another fly spray, any other fly spray! I didn't purchase through SmartPak, but wanted to share my experience with this product.

Affordable, effective, and makes them look good!
This has been my go-to spray for the last five years. I (fortunately) have never had a reaction in my gelding, unlike other reviewers. The result is pretty immediate, and it keeps away flies, mosquitos, and gnats. I also love the coat conditioner! It is great for shows, or just schooling on an extra-shiny horse. :) I think the price is great - it's not too high, and a bottle usually lasts me a long time simply because it doesn't take a lot to get the job done. The only downside is that it's pretty oily, so dirt will cling to areas on your horse and I hate getting it on my hands.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!
I haven't had to post a negative review in a very long time, but others deserve to know my experience with this product. Do you see the lumpy patches that others have reported? Yup! MY HORSE TOO! I applied this fly spray one day. The next day I came back and my mare had clearly had an allergic reaction to it. Her skin thickened in lumpy patches on her barrel and belly. I didn't reapply the fly spray again, and fortunately the lumps went away after about 4 days. I thought maybe this was specific to my horse, or maybe that I got a 'bad bottle' (in which case, a negative review wouldn't have been necessary.) But my vet actually stated that she'd seen a lot of horses have allergic reactions to this stuff. I'm sticking with Farnam's Tri-Tec (20 years and 3 different horses, never had an issue) or a natural spray. DON'T RISK USING THE BRONCO LINE OF FLY SPRAYS!!! Farnam can be such a good brand, but this stuff is just terrible.

STAY AWAY!
Unbelievable that this is still on market. Look it up. Severe reactions for years. I got complacent and did not do my research. Sprayed it on my mare and she got massive swellings in underbelly, legs and now hair loss over a week later. Required vet call (dex, Banamine, antihistamines, etc.). I was truly scared. I have had her since birth, she is now 19, and NEVER had a reaction to any other fly spray. this stuff made her miserable!! Please don't risk it. I notified retailer AND Farnam. HSUS case was opened (per Farnam - not me). I wish I had never even looked at it.

As good as fly spray gets!
I've tried every imaginable fly spray ever created. This is the only one that gives "some" relief. It is oily so it gives my horses a killer shine and actually stays on unlike the water based formulas. I have a thoroughbred who's skin peels if sprays are too harsh and this one does not seem to bother him. It is also at a very good price point!

Good Quality
I’ve been using this fly spray for several years, and it does a great job at a reasonable price. It doesn’t irritate the horses, and deters most bugs.

Not the best
Bought this a while ago and my horse horse had a strange reaction to it. His skin has started to flake almost like its drying out which is odd because it is supposed to be conditioning spray which explains the gross oily residue it leaves.

Good fly spray
Here in Florida flies get used to fly spray you use all the time. This product is good when you try to mix it in a little.

Doesn't do the best job at keeping flies off, even after a light ride on my horse without her sweating, I had to reapply after...within an hour.

Do not buy Bronco Gold oil based
I had three different horses react violently to this fly spray. I have had horses for many years and have never had this happen. It gave them welts and blisters.
I had a filly get so physically sick that we thought she had colic as well as having an extreme reaction to this fly spray.
My show horse could not be ridden for almost 3 weeks and is still 4 weeks later recovering from the welts and blisters that literally had tiny pus pockets in 6 inch diameter circles that hair came off of.
When it happened to my warmblood at PEC Sporthorses in Wilton, CA came up with weird welts and blisters a day after I put the flyspray on him - (I put the fly spray on one of my horses there but not the other the other horse is a Cremello and oil based fly sprays make the dirt come up.) After the welts and weird patches of tiny pus outbreaks/blisters I was apprehensive to think it was the fly spray but just in case the horse that had the reaction was sensitive to it (12 yr old I have had since born not sensitive to anything) -- I took the bottle home to my horses that are at my house (because I didn't think it was the flyspray).
Several weeks later, the flies were obnoxious as it got hot again and I groomed and used the Farnam Bronco Gold on two of three of my horses at home. The one that I did not flyspray is a mini that nothing happened to.
The other two horses reacted horribly!! It was put on Weds Sept 7th afternoon. I had a farrier scheduled Thursday Sept 8 at 9am. When he got there - I mentioned that my old mare had a weird lump on her tummy and it had looked like she itched it raw. I also mentioned my filly (3 yr old) seemed to be itching like crazy. As he was trimming one horse, we proceeded to watch the filly itch her side raw -- I ran and gave her a flake of hay to get her to stop. We both observed that it was odd.
When the farrier left, it was about 11:00am. I fed them lunch at about noon. Then noticed about 4 pm that again - itching was dramatic.
I went out to see that my older mare had welts running all over huge areas about a 1/2 inch rise swollen up off her. She had blisters similar to my horse at an equestrian facility in odd circles about 6 inch diameter with opened and dried pus pockets/blisters?
My filly had huge welts smaller raised off her but she was acting bizarre. She would lay down and just look miserable then get up move around. I called my vet immediately. She asked me a series of questions which included did I use a different brand of fly spray -- when I remembered my other horse had reacted weird -- it all clicked.....
She had me immediately give both horses baths with shampoo that was "soft" -- the filly felt better immediately but was still acting bizarre -- she was so happy after the bath - would run buck....go get a bite to eat then lay down. Because I know my vet well, she worked with me with phone calls. Anyone else would have had at least a $500 vet bill for this. I have continued to give them baths. My show horse could not go in the shows planned.
This was bad. I have had horses for 40 yrs. I am not one to "freak out" about things.
My filly's legs have sores/bumps all over in the areas that I applied the fly spray to the most. My warmblood is still growing hair in the areas reacting with the weird small pus outbreaks. My older mare has two big areas that are healing from breaking open.
Please take this product off of the market - inform your buyers to pull it off the shelf.

Better than most
Bronco Gold was recommended by my farrier. Overall, this is the best I've used. I have not found one spray, homemade or retail, that will repel all the flies and gnats 100 percent but this one is the best of all I've tried. To receive 5 stars it would have had to keep all flies off my horse's white legs.

Best fly spray on the market
I have experimented with tons of fly sprays through the buggy Florida summers, and Bronco Gold is the best one by far. My barn supplies fly spray and I still opt for my own Bronco Gold. The lasting power and effectiveness is much better than most, particularly for the value.

pretty good
I have used this in the past and found it is one with a higher level of active ingredients. It does pretty good here in humid southern Indiana summers as do a few others I use. So like de-wormers, I rotate fly sprays, sometimes bottle to bottle, sometimes day to day. Really just depends what pest is most active that day.

Good Spray
This spray does seem to do a good job keeping flies off, and smells pretty good. it adds an immediate shine to the coat, however it does make to coat feel a little greasy and attracts a fair amount of dust. I will continue to use it because of its long-term conditioning benefits.

Does not last.
This product does not seem to last over 5-6 hours. It smells great and makes your horse shiny, but fly protection for a horse in a field is not good. I switched to TRI TEC and have noticed a much better prouduct that last 1-2 days. I have not seen any product last anywhere near what the bottle states. I also use fly predators in field which does give a noticeable result in reducing our fly problem. I live in drought in California where the flies love to live. I did order a gallon of this product and used the product until I ran out.

Love it!!
I love this product! It's definetely my favorite fly spray! My gelding is very sensitive to insect bites, and during this summer he goes out at night when the bugs and Mosquitos are very bad. This fly spray works great to keep the bugs off all night long. He no longer gets tons of bumps on all over his neck from big bites!
