Why We Love This

The Back on Track Therapeutic Hock Wraps use state-of-the-art fabric which contains polyester thread embedded with a fine ceramic powder.

Designed to reflect the horse's own body-warmth, it creates a soothing far infrared thermal heat, which can help alleviate pain associated with inflamed muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints. The Back on Track therapy works with your horses own body heat. Used for both injury prevention as well as injury recovery.

Material is a cotton/polyester blend infused with Back on Track's revolutionary ceramic infused fiber. Three VELCRO® brand straps. Pair.

Instructions

Instructions for Use:
Back on Track Hock Boots should be gradually introduced by using them for 2-4 hours for the first 3-5 days. After that you may use them overnight 2-3 weeks. Give the horse a break from use for 4-7 days, then use again for 2-3 weeks without the slow introduction period. Use your own judgment and see how the horse responds.  Back on Track recommends using a standing wrap to support the Hock Boots.

If you do any injections to the hocks, wait 4 days to use the Hock Boots after injections.

Please read carefully, both the usage and washing instructions, before using the product.

All Back on Track products should be implemented gradually. To start with, use the product for a maximum of four hours a day for the first 2-3 days. The body then has the opportunity to familiarize itself with the fabric’s effects.

The reason we recommend starting with a maximum of 4 hours use is that some people experience pain in the beginning. In horses and dogs, it manifests itself as a swelling. This is due to the increased blood circulation, which is actually a good indication that the ceramic fabric is taking effect. This initial pain or swelling can occur anywhere from a few to several hours of use. You should then cease using the product any more that day, and instead introducing it carefully and more gradually over the following days.

After the introductory period you should up the usage to a minimum of 8 hours per day, preferably more. After only an hour or so is often perceived a positive effect on tight muscles and stiff joints. More persistent problems may require several days, usually between 10-20, before the desired result is achieved.

After the introductory period of 2-3 days it is important to continue to use the product intensively at least 10, preferably 20 days, before assessing its impact. Since this ceramic fabric reflects more of the body’s heat radiation as you move, the effect is greatest if you wear the product when active. Back on Track also works when resting, even when you sleep.

Continue to use the product according to the routine you develop, or use it for two weeks and then take a break in the third week, this in order to avoid dependency. The sensitivity of this dependency varies from individual to individual. For maximum effect, the ceramic fabric should be in direct contact with the skin (if necessary, a thin cotton cloth inserted between).

Note: Caution is advised during simultaneous use with liniment or similar, since the effect is amplified. Use the product only as directed and consult a doctor if symptoms persist. Do not use during pregnancy.

Specific instructions for use on horses and dogs:

Keep in mind that the effect of Back and Track increases with movement when the body heat increases, so in addition to using pads and blankets in the stables, the horse can also be allowed to move around with the Back on Track products. Especially suitable in this context is Riding Boots, Leg Wraps, Saddle Pads, Exercise Sheets and Blanket/Sheets.

For long term problems, the horse may need to use Back on Track for an extended period. Use the product for two to three weeks and have a break one week, to see if the symptoms persist.

As a preventive measure, Back on Track can be used with regular breaks. Use Back on Track 1 day before and 2 days after exercise and then stop until the next workout. For warm-up, use 1-2 hours before and 2-4 hours after exercise.

For dogs, one often uses the standard Dog Blanket, which is rain repellent and breaths. However, it should be noted that for long-running problems, Back on Track should be used for several weeks, at least 8 hours per day, with regular breaks in order to achieve the desired results. This means that the dog can use the blanket day and night, indoor as well as outdoor, 24/7. If being used at night, it is probably more comfortable for the dog to wear the Mesh Blanket, which is more adaptable. Alternatively, the dog may be provided with a mattress with "memory foam" or a cover of Back on Track to the sleeping basket. The foam part molds to the body shape and relieves a sore back.

Washing:

Back on Track products can be machine washed up to 86°F or 30°C. Use normal detergents that do not contain bleach or fabric softeners. Air dry only, do NOT tumble dry.

Note: Do not use bleach or fabric softener, or tumble dry. The product should be ironed at a maximum temperature of 122 F The ceramic powder is fused in the fibres of polyester/polypropylene and does not separate when washed. The textile loses efficiency with time and extended use.

The textile is produced in China and consists of 100% polypropylene (PP) with ceramic powder or 50% polyester with ceramic powder and 50% cotton.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too soon to tell These boots fit great and I'm hoping they will work for my OTTB and his tired hocks....unfortunately he's not too happy wearing them so they haven't been used long enough to see any results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits well over a difficult area I purchased this hock wrap a month ago at our vet's advice following my mare's bout with a septic hock. It is supposed to create heat which promotes healing. Along with daily hand walking, the hock swelling is down. This is a well designed product and does not slip off the hock at night, which is a really area to keep things on properly. The only drawback is you have to purchase a set when you only need one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! These came in right when it said it would and there were no problems with anything! This item works AMAZING! My horse has been sore in his hocks a few times after we would get done exercising and practicing, so I got these and used them for 1 hour the first day after a ride and I used them for about a week for about 2 hours after the first day and my horse was so much better and felt great! They honestly helped him just the first day they're was no soreness in the hocks the morning after. I now put them on before he loads up in the trailer and he travels with them on because they help with stiffness and they work so great! I would also defiantly recommend using them if you stall your horses over night at home or a rodeo if they get stiff in the hocks they would help tremendously and prevent from getting stiff! Back on track products are wonderful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They stay on! My 29 year old mare makes that brutal turn on her hockis to get up.This is the only "bandaging" that stay on to help heal that horrible gaping wound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought these boots for an OTTB with arthritis and he also required stall rest for a period. He was getting hock sores from lying down. These helped both the arthritis and the sores. I also feel the fit runs small. He's 17h and built like a warmblood, not tout typical TB. I bought the Large and they fit perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Makes a HUGE difference! My gelding has arthritis in his hocks and the Back on Track Hock Wraps make a world of difference. He's looser, doesn't come out stiff and is overall much happier!
    Date published: 2016-04-06
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not very durable These boots get great results, but aren't built as well as I'd expect. The straps are tearing and stretching and the boot itself attracts shavings. I was in between sizes( M/L) for my 16.3hh KWPN mare, and opted for the Large. after the first wear, they became too big for consistent wear (slides without back wraps on).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I bought this product for an OTTB that I just adopted. He is 16 and I felt he needed a bit of hock support. I put these on while grooming and preparing for our ride. I feel he has been supported by this product. They are easy to put on and take off and stay in place well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as advertised I bought these for a horse who has a lot of joint stiffness following a bout of Lyme disease. I put them on half an hour before his ride while I'm grooming & tacking up. I definitely see a shortened warm-up time with looser, more powerful movement earlier on. with less "tough love" needed from me. They are well made, they fit & conform very well, and seem sturdy. They do run a little small. My horse measured for a medium but I had to exchange for a large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! My QH gelding has arthritis in both hocks, one far worse than the other, and I notice an HUGE difference using these boots. Before the boots he would come out stiff and clearly uncomfortable now he seems much more comfortable and far less stiff! I am now working on adding the rest of the BOT line to my collection of equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fagan loves his Back on Track hock wraps I have been using these wraps on my 18 hand Hanoverian gelding, and they have made a huge difference in Fagan's over all performance. I put them on while I am tacking up and then after my ride. Fagan is moving better then ever which is great now that we are schooling third level. I absolutely love Back on Track and I will probably will be buying more of there products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely made I gave it five stars because I like the way it was made and seemed like quality product. However I did not get to use them because they were too small for my mare, she's 17.1+ shire. She was coming back from an injury and I didn't think that they would fit but I thought I would try. They are very nicely made and I was pleasantly surprised when I bought it because I thought I only got one but it comes in a package of two, so if you have a smaller horse than I do is a great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hock boots that remain in place! I bought these for a QH barrel horse with bog spavin (hock swelling) in the left rear. I had borrowed a pair of ice hock boots with compression that kept falling off even with vetrap and standing boot reinforcements. These sweat the hocks well and greatly reduced the edema in the hock. I love them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality boots that work Well made hock boots that are worth the price. Keeps my horse's hocks loose. Although your horse will have to adjust to having them on.
    Date published: 2015-09-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I decided to try the hock wraps on my hunter this summer, and there was a noticeable difference the first time I used them! My horse is usually turned out 12+ hours per day, so when he goes to shows and has to be stalled 24/7 he can sometimes come out a touch stiff. I noticed no stiffness after using these wraps at shows and my horse was moving much better right off the bat. At shows, I tend to put the wraps on for about 2 hours before warming up. At home, I usually throw them on when I am grooming, so he has them on for about an hour before every ride and an hour after. I can tell they are working because his hocks will be noticeably warmer under the wraps.I would not leave these wraps on overnight or in turnout as I'm not sure they would hold up, and I suspect horses would get rubbed near the top of the wrap if they were walking around in these for a long time. I doubt these wraps will be a cure for horses with severe arthritis/stiffness in their hocks, but for my horse who can occasionally come out with some minor stiffness, they have made a world of difference in his movement and willingness to correctly use his body. I would recommend these wraps for general maintenance and preventative care.
