Beware - these fell apart after 5 months
I bought these boots in January of this year. Though I really liked them and found them to be true to size and comfortable, they fell apart after just 5 months. I’m very disappointed because I trust SmartPak and Ariat to be better than this. And I only ride about 5 times a week so I’m not super hard on boots.
Any chance I can get SmartPak credit for a new pair of boots?

Nice looking and comfortable
I thought I liked the half chap-version of these, but the tall boots are even better. So easy to get on, and don't need breaking in like regular tall boots. Very comfortable, again unlike most tall boots. Can walk around in them. And your feet don't hurt.

Wore out SUPER fast!
These boots wore out within a month. They had a hole at the front of my ankle. The piece that was supposed to protect your he back of your ankle never stayed up so sometimes lumped up or got caught in the zipper so the zipper rubbed. I will say the foot bed was super comfortable and they are very light and also breathable. Perhaps if you just ride one horse a day they would work just fine. When I first put them on I loved them as they felt like a tennis shoe with a supportive calf but they broke down almost immediately. I am a trainer and rider and work 10 horses a day so perhaps for light use they would be good. Smartpak was great about taking them back and giving me credit though!

Very Comfortable But Not Durable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fit great out of the box with no break in period.
But within a few weeks the fabric on the front started to rip and the zipper holders broke.
I was very disappointed as Ariat always holds up well for me but not in this case.

Excellent boots
I own already paddock boots from ascent line and I really love them so I knew what to expect when it comes to comfort of Ascent tall boots. These are the greater boots I ve ever had. If I could I would wear them all day through. I love the traditionnal little Ariat trick in the upper velcro preventing the zipper from falling down when closed. The compression of the calf was a bit stronger at the beginning but it softened slightly after several uses and now it s just fine and held like this. The only thing I regret is not to buy them immediatelly after its release. I hope Ariat will continue its production for longtime

Zipper broke within 6 months
I had to buy a pair of boots quickly because my Volant's had fallen apart after 2 years, so I bought the Ascents. Because it was the middle of summer, the faux leather held both heat and sweat in. Then, the zippers separated from the elastic, then broke completely. I bought these boots in August 2021, and am returning them to Dover tomorrow.

Nice looking and comfortable
I love these boots. Very true to sizing on the site and extremely comfortable. Not too sure how to clean them, but I guess that's what Google is for.

Really bad quality
The boots look cool and fit like most ariats. I ride dressage and always use ariats as barn boots. These with the Velcro back closure are a mess and they are so sock-like the drop in the ankle will be a mess these are a fail.

Super comfy but......
I bought these in May 2021 from Smartpak and starting in October 2021 the wear on these was really apparent. I ride a handful of times a week and these boots look like ive had them for 10 years. the zippers are dying, the mesh is ripping, and the zippers wont stay up. The worst? the inside part of the calf is becoming "bumpy". i think the 2 layers of material are deteriorating already on the inside so it looks like ive got really bad hives, and isnt very comfortable as now i can start to feel them! I do love that these boots have essentially no break in time but i wish the materials were more durable! Its sad to pay this much for something and have it be falling apart within a few months of light wear!

Ascent Tall Boots; Not for professionals
I’ve had these for a few weeks now. I will say they are very comfortable and didn’t need break in time, but as a professional rider, they already are coming apart. The zipper also doesn’t stay up so I’m constantly having to pull them back up. The heel protector on the inside of the boot always ends up below my foot so I have to take my boot off between rides to fix that. If you only ride one horse, once or twice a week then I wouldn’t have an issue with these boots.

Save your money
Well another Ariat fail! I bought these boots in hopes they would hold up to heat, daily use and require little care. What a waste of money. A big NO to working in the heat and in no time at all the foot bed was coming separate and falling off, another waste of my money and the final nail in the coffin for me buying their boots, of any kind! Yikes

Disappointment
They are very comfortable, to be sure.
But they are cheaply made and I am frustrated with them in every ride. The Velcro is weak and constantly pops open at the top and the zipper slides down my leg at least half a dozen times every ride. I’m constantly stopping to rezip the zipper. Very unhappy with this purchase.

Good look, didn’t last
I bought these in April of this year. Wore them the first time in May since I was in a non muddy area. I can ride in them, but I cannot walk to the barn in them. They slide down to the ankle, I tried to walk through the pain but ended up with nasty blisters. I have a wide calf, so finding boots that fit has been difficult for me. These have a Velcro strip at the top, which fits with the “light” aspect of the boot. But seeing as how I have a wife calf, and these have the Velcro strap…the boot zipper never stays up while I ride. I ride 1-3 times a week and I only wear them when I’m mounted (cause, blisters). The boots also stay in a boot bag inside the house when not being worn, so not abused by any means. Tonight when I went to zip them up for my ride, the zipper separated. These boots fit me and due to the paneling on them they fit well. But for the full calved ladies I wouldn’t recommend these boots. If you have the nice slim calf look, I’m sure they will be perfect.

Not a fan
I switched from the regular Volant boot to this boot because of availability.
This boot does not require any break in time and fits right out the box.
Because of the material it makes my calf and foot super hot, and after an hour of riding my legs are soaked.
The second irritating issues is that the boot makes a squeaking sound when rubbing against the girth/saddle. Makes my horse super nervous.
Yes, it does give a lot of flexibility but I miss the good old leather boot and will go back to it.

Falling Apart
I wanted to love these boots. I’m allergic to leather dye and I’ve gotten horrible reactions on my legs for years during the summer in the Texas heat, and these initially seemed like the answer. Purchased in the middle of May, they were great for maybe a month, and my rash was gone! But, the neoprene very quickly got holes in it. No big deal, these aren’t my show boots. Zipper troubles came next, and I thought maybe I could get it fixed. Then the whole sole of the boot fell right off. Not to mention, don’t get them wet! They STINK. They don’t dry well on their own, and they reek of mold the second they’re wet.
I’ve been a long time Ariat customer, I don’t like change. I’ve had several pairs of Ariat boots that have lasted me a long time because I take care of them. That said, the abysmal customer service (spoiler: no one ever responded to any of my emails) following a defective product that should not cost this much if it’s unusable after a few months is a big turnoff. So, this is a review for both the poorly made boots I bought, but also the lack of concern Ariat apparently has with selling overpriced subpar products.

Love them!
Boots run a little big in the ankle and it took a little longer than normal for the boots to stretch in the calf. The first few rides I couldn’t close them all the way and the zipper would open mid ride. Two weeks in I can zip them all the way. I put the zipper through the holder in the back and it doesn’t open. Boots are super comfortable and easy to clean. I am giving them 4 stars because I think they could fit better in the ankle. I also feel that the foot is a little roomy but I like that for the winter. It leaves room for my feet warmers.

Super Comfortable - Not Durable
I have had these for all of four months and the zipper on the right boot is already broken. The boots are comfortable and good for summer, so they've been fine.. but the fact that within 4 months of like light-to-moderate use they're essentially broken is frustrating since they're priced the same as any other entry-level tall boot. I don't expect the boots to last forever, but like at least a year unless there's a ton of wear, but as an adult amateur that is riding 3-4x per week at most, and in the boots for maybe a few hours at a time, it's just a bit silly that they're that poorly constructed. On top of that, while i appreciate that these are so comfy they'd be terrible in a winter condition/colder climate. The way the boot comes together on top means that they would get soaking wet should you have to go through puddles/be in any kind of weather. As much as it pains me to say, because i so wanted to love these, I would not recommend.

Too hot to wear in the sun even on mild days
I bought these boots for my daughter and they burn her feet and legs when riding in the sun in only the 80s. She has to constantly have water poured over them to keep them cool but then the water gets inside and causes other problems. Do not buy unless only using inside or winter months. Otherwise, she loves them.

Fair quality but comfortable
I’ve been wearing my Ascents for about a month. The foot and most of the non mesh part of the boot is rubber and gets very hot around the top of the foot. They were easy to break in. My only major complaint is that the “tongue” in the heel of the boots does not stay up for more than a few minutes and then I end up standing on it, which is not comfortable.

Comfortable lightweight but not durable
These boots are comfortable and Uber light weight. Easy to clean with a damp cloth. The zippers never were sturdy and one of the zippers broke after less than 90 days. Also, the zippers do not stay up very well and they will migrate down towards the heels during your ride.

Sneaker-like comfort!
I've been wearing these for maybe a month now, and they are VERY VERY comfortable from the get-go. I was skeptical because there is no real leather, but so far, so good. The stick and bend are great. I hope they hold up for a long time. I think, given that they are long top sneakers with no real leather, the price is a bit steep. Otherwise, these are the most comfortable schooling boots I've ever worn.

Comfortable boot, stupid design
I do like these boots, however when I purchased these I didn't realize that the top of the boots and the spur rest were reinforced with velcro instead of the traditional snaps. The tops of these things WILL NOT stay shut, which means the zippers come down too. I have to use heavy duty duct tape to keep them in place. They're less than 3 months old... I get putting the velcro at the bottom, there's no bend there and your spurs should keep it shut, but putting velcro right behind your knee? That's just stupid. My bad for not looking at the boots more closely on the website I bought them from, but come on ariat, don't skimp on necessities just to save a few bucks... Everything else about these is great, I'm a trainer and can wear them all day long and they're super comfortable. Just extremely annoying that I can't keep the tops closed and the zippers from coming down...

Want to like them more
I bought these a few months ago and wore them around the house before deciding I was keeping them. The don’t come in a short for my size and was a little unsure of the height at the back of me knee and on my kneecap. Other than that, was pleased with how they felt overall. I decided last week to finally take them for a test drive and wore them this week also. They’re comfortable before my ride, and even while riding, the height, turns out, is not a bother any longer. The new issue is that I can feel the material around my ankle does not stay tight and my foot moves a bit. Once out of the saddle, the small flap at the bottom of the boot that helps the zipper zip up has completely fallen down below my foot. this causes the back of the zipper to cut into the back of my ankle and is not comfortable at all. I have to unzip the boot, pull the flap back up in order to stop the irritation. Although there is a lot to like about them, for the price, I would have hoped I wouldn’t have an issue like this. My previous boots have a much more robust cover, and it does not move or slip. For me, if the cost of having a “slipper like” boot means things aren’t as tight and that’s where the discomfort comes, I think I’d prefer a boot that has more structure. My last comment is around durability; nothing to speak of yet, but I will be interested to see how these wear.

Disappointed.
When I ordered my Ascent tall boots I was quite excited by the description and the possibility of a boot that would be able to handle the level of walking and riding that I perform on a daily basis. Upon opening the box, I felt that I had "hit the nail on the head". I was wrong. After wearing the boots through a normal work day I am left feeling like they are made cheaply. The materials wear like they will not make it thought the week, much less a month or more. I am completely disappointed.
