Velcro "Snaps"
I ordered these half chaps not realizing that they don't have snaps on the bottom. I'm not a fan of velcro in a dusty environment as it's only a matter of time before it stops sticking. Everything else on it was nice, but I felt this would be a waste. Returned them to look for half chaps with snaps.

Love Scout Half Chaps
I absolutely love these chaps. It took me a bit to get the sizing down and it was really difficult to get the zipper started the first couple of wears. Now though they are perfect! I love how grippy the suede is on the inner leg. They seem like they will last a long time. I wear them with my Ariat paddock boots.

Finally broke them in and then the zipper broke.
These took a while to break in, and they weren't that great until broken in. Then I wore them for a while after breaking them in, and today the zipper broke at the top, the place where you hold the two sides together to start the zipper. Not impressive considering I only wear them once a week for an hour-long lesson. Probably will try another brand now.

Perfection
Width/height were the perfect fit. I ordered a medium width/short height and I’m 5’6”. The chaps molded to my leg after only 1 ride and were/are very comfortable. 100% would recommend.

Comfortable, great quality & great value half chap
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am about 5’3” 130lbs or so with mostly narrow calves. I got the small short and they fit pretty well so far! They were definitely a little tight when first wearing them but I’m confident they will break in a little bit more. They were very comfortable with my Ariat Ascent paddock boots too and I really liked how supportive they were in the saddle. Also felt like these were super affordable and I’m really glad I bought them! Would highly recommend them to others - you can also size up a little if you’re unsure/want to avoid them being too tight and I think they would still fit well. I hope these last me several years but will probably buy them again if needed!

Fit Well and Look Good - But Not the Same Quality
My old Ariat half-chaps lasted for nearly 15 years, and I expected the same high quality construction as the others I've purchased in the past. While these fit well and look good, the material seems cheaper - some threads at the back coming out already. But they are serviceable. I just don't think they are going to last a long time.

Nice Half Chaps
These half chaps are great but make sure you measure correctly. They fit tight when they first arrive but eventually stretch to conform to your leg. I ride 6+ horses a day and they’re holding up. The extra suede on the inside is nice for grip but you can’t see the suede once you’re on the horse and with the back zipper, you could definitely get away with wearing these at a schooling show

Zippers broke instantly
I bought these because I LOVE the Ariat “Scout” paddock shoe. This half chap is NOT representative of the quality I’ve come to expect from Ariat. I’d be surprised if they actually make it; seems more like a Chinese knockoff. Materials are cheap in every sense: look, feel, smell.
Any money spent on these is a waste. Get a real pair of Ariat half chaps.

Amazing Half Chaps!
As a predominantly western rider, I hadn't used half chaps before. I occasionally like to practice in my dressage and my Ariat Fat Baby boots are not the best choice to ride in. I decided that a good alternative to work in both saddles would be to buy a pair of Ariat Terrain boots and add half chaps to them when I work in my dressage saddle. After pouring over countless reviews, I landed on the Scout Chap as it was clear that I was best off spending more money up front to get a nicer, more durable chap and I am so happy I did! These are true to size, easily fit over my Ariat Terrain boots, are incredibly comfortable (especially for someone not used to half chaps), and seem very well made. So much so that a friend who always rides in half chaps but of other brands commented on how nice these are. I can't speak to how durable they are just yet, but I have faith that they will hold up nicely. Definitely worth the investment!

I bought these a couple of weeks ago and so far they have been great half chaps. They are pretty tight the first time you put them on, but on the second use they already fit better. Great half chaps for the price you pay!

Well made and good price!
I have been looking for a pair of half chaps that we're too expensive but felt well made and these have been great. Easy to put on, the only semi negative comment I have is the Velcro at the bottom doesn't stay 100% of the time.

Great looking chaps. I was so disappointed they didn't fit. They were too tall for my leg. If I ordered a shorter pair, the calf size was smaller, and would not have worked. If they had fit, I would have loved to have worn these!

Awesome but weird fit
I ordered these in a size XS tall as I have very long, slim legs, but I was surprised when they came over my knee. They are very nice besides the fact that they don’t fit as expected.

Great schooling chap
I bought this half chap 3 months ago and am very impressed with the durability. I ride everyday and needed a half chap that would hold up. I had 3 half chaps break within a month, so this was a last effort. I didn’t expect a lot out of this half chap but it definitely impressed me. I would say that this half chap is not nice enough for showing. It is also a little shorter than expected. If you want a durable schooling chap, i would recommend this half chap.

Nice, quality material
I have always bought Medium Tall but with other brands. The medium portion fits great but the "tall" is a lot taller than usual. I didn't return these since a regular height has always been too short and I would prefer tall. I'm 5'10 with a 36" inseam and these bunch at my knees. The super sturdy zipper appears sturdy, but is hard to zip. For these reasons I gave the half chaps 3 stars. I do like the softness, ride ability, and comfort of the material.

I love these!!!
I got these chaps about a month ago and i love them! They fit true to size. They are a bit hard to zip up the first few times wearing them, but that is just because they are new and it gets easier. They are great quality too!

Awesome Chaps!
I wear these everyday with multiple horses and these are holding up amazingly!! They run true to size. The zippers are very durable, they feel better than my custom Grand Prix ones. A must buy!!!

Works extremely well
I bought these about one month ago and have been very satisfied. Zipper is heavy duty and works well. My legs stay in better contact with the horse than my older pair of non-Ariat half chaps. Although we measured carefully, I did have to exchange for the next larger size, but that was handled very efficiently and quickly.
