Ariat® Performer Lace Zip Paddock is rated 4.1923076923076925 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Comfort I've been an Ariat Paddock Boot fan for quite some time. The Devron Pro Quantum Cobalt (Waterproof)) had been my favorite riding boot for quite some time. However, when I went looking to replace it, no luck. In the interim, I found the Performer Lace Zip the closest match. I was looking for foot comfort, stability and durability. Comfortable from the time I first wore them, with no breaking in.If only Ariat would make it waterproof, but I'm trying a solution suggested by another customer (water proof spray). The snap on the back is a bit tough to open and close and I do have to loosen the laces to take my foot out of the boot (high instep/arch). As for the laces, I switched them out for something a little softer and more pliable. In the meantime, I'm enjoying my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best paddock boots I have owned these boots for 10 years. The leather is supple and has never cracked. Granted, I do not ride every day but I have never had a single problem with these boots. They are not waterproof but with a yearly coat of water repellant spray, they have kept my feet dry on rainy days or during a hose off. The snap is a bit hard to fasten but I'm lazy so I just leave them off! I love the lace up feature with the zip back. I have problems with other zip up boots because I get a "galoshes" effect since they never fit my small ankles. With these, I could tie them to fit and then just slip them on. Perfect for slipping on and off when you don't have a clean place to sit down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite Ariat Boots I have owned a few other pairs of ariat paddock boots (only a few because they last so long), however the only pair of black ones that my local shop had in stock was these. At first, I wasn't terribly thrilled about having lace up boots, but I love the feel and ease of zip up boots combined with the classic style and feel of tall boots and the custom fit that the laces provide

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, a good fit for skinny feet! I have a 7N foot and slim (boney) ankles. I like the ease of zippers but most zip up paddock boots are too wide in the foot bed and too loose in the ankle, Ariats included. This style provides the ease of zippers with the custom fit of lace ups. They are very comfortable, but did need a couple of rides to break them in at the ankles. Am very happy with them - it was well worth paying a few dollars more to get a good fit! Also, the tread doesn't get clogged with dirt like some other brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are Great Boots! These boots are great! I have worn them everywhere and anywhere, and they have survived more then a year of almost daily use. In winter, they keep my feet very warm! I have had to trudge through feet of snow to get my horse in her paddock countless times in these boots, and they have held up!! In summer they are great too! They break in super fast. I love the easiness of just having to zip them up and go, but they also provide a very custom fit, because you can adjust with the laces. I also have Ariat tall boots for shows, and I absolutely love their products, so I knew this was a brand I could trust. If you are looking for an all around great boot, this is it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Tried hard, but I hate these boots I really like the IDEA of these boots and have had a similar style in other brands. Ariat misses the boat, though, in the execution--the lace hooks at the top of the boot are way too shallow to hold the laces when you unzip, causing the boots to come unlaced, negating the whole purpose of having the zipper. I treat these as lace ups only, with the added frustration of the zipper coming undone all on it's own fairly regularly. They have been durable and are reasonably comfortable. But if you're looking for a boot where you can set up the laces for a custom fit ONCE and use the zipper for on/off otherwise, skip these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worth the money These are some of the more expensive and hard to find boots with the lace in the front and zip in the back. With that being said they are great. I purchased them for my wife, she has had them before and lasted a long time. She used them everyday in harsh conditions and are worn everyday they just don't fall apart. I recommend them and would say spend the extra and get them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love them very comfortable and convenient on/off with zipper. The only thing I didnt like in the beginning was the snap was really hard to do. It has since become easier. Would at this point get them again as they are comfortable. Also wear socks that reach the top of boot for a few times or else there are blisters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfortable so far they are comfortable. Wear socks just above the boot though as you will get blisters in the beginning. Love the ease of putting on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from seriously buy these boots These have been my choice of paddock boots for 8 years. I've had 3 pairs and worn them all completely out, then bought another pair. I get a lot of complements on them too! Cant go wrong with ariats!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful except... I love the fit of these boots, and its so conveniant to have both zips and laces, since i love the look of laces but my fingers are lazy and hate the look of zips but they are so convenient! My only con is that the dye keeps coming off! no matter what cleaner i use, i need to keep re-dyeing them every month or so! But otherwise the fit is wonderful and they are super comfy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best paddock boots ever Seriously, look no further. These are the most comfortable paddock boots I've ever owned. Broke in almost immediately, and are holding up beautifully. Love the zipper/lace up combo. I can get them perfectly tight in the ankles, but have the convenience of being able to unzip them! I hope Ariat never discontinues them!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best boot ever I have been using this boot since I started riding English and I couldn't ask for a better boot. The leather has never cracked on me, perhaps because I keep them well conditioned, and they are super comfy from day one. I have had to replace them once because my zipper broke on one of them, but that was after 2 1/2 years of wearing them literally every single day, not only at the barn but out and about as well. If the zipper goes on my current pair I plan to just bring them to a shoe repair shop and have a new zipper put on them because the leather has never let me down. I love how you can adjust the fit and then simply zip them on and off. I would highly recommend these to anyone that wants a custom fitting boot in the ankle area and a super comfy, super easy on/off boot for riding.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Keep Trying Ariat! I have to agree with other reviews: the boots fit great right out of the box. However, after being worn 3 months one of the snaps broke. After 6 months, one zipper popped then 2 weeks later the other went. After wearing them 5 days a week for 10 months there were many cracks in the leather and holes and were essentially useless. By the way, nothing was covered by Ariat. "Normal wear and tear"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So comfy! These boots fit great and were so comfortable right out of the box! Great quality and looks. I love that I can get a custom fit by tightening the laces down to fit, then easy off-and-on with the zipper in the back.
Date published: 2010-12-21
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Over-engineered The elastic is too stretchy for my weak ankles and the zipper gave out long before the leather and sole were worn. The footbed is comfy but I miss the old all-leather, lace-up Ariats.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought these boots about 18 months ago. The leather is cracked all over, but especially at bending points, such as side of foot at toe. Granted, I have put a lot of wear and tear on them, such as riding every day, washing horses, etc, and I didn't oil or clean them because these are obviously not my show boots. However, I still expected leather to wear better. The sole is still in good shape and I did find them very comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly suprised! I bought these boots almost exactly a year ago, and was one of my best boot purchases. I always wanted a zip up boot because I hate paddock laces, but zip boot never fit quite right, and with the elastic on these, it was the perfect solution. I originally bought these just to ride in, but they quickly became my everyday shoe because of how comfortable they are to even walk in! After a year of everyday use(for work in retail too!) the only things I can say are bad about them are that: 1). A tiny little part of the elastic is a little over stretched, but you wouldn't notice it wearing them, just looking at them. 2). One button above the zipper comes undone fairly easily, but the zipper never budges, so it is no big deal.I didn't really polish them or take good care of them, and they look wonderful still. A tiny bit of polish and they are perfect for 4-h shows, and the leather is VERY soft and supple, even when I first got them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Boots! Comfy foot bed and overall boot. Took a few mins to get the laces tight enough that the zipper felt snug enough in the back. Seem very durable and very good quality. Zipper makes them very easy to get on and off. Ariats are great!
Date published: 2010-08-09
Rated 1 out of 5 by from didn't work for me I thought the idea of a zip and lace was great but it just didn't work for me. The boot would not fit flush with my leg except when it was very tightly laced which made for very uncomfortable riding. When laced more loosely there was a big gap between my leg and the boot also making for uncomfortable riding and some difficulty with my half chaps.I wore the boots once and then returned them and went back to my standard lace paddock boots.
Date published: 2010-04-26
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good all around paddock boot. Great fit through foot when on. snap tab on back of heel is a little stiff to un-snap. And the zip up back makes much harder to get on foot than models with zip up front. The ATS technology is the only Ariat boot foot that agrees with my conformation, wish they had a model with a front zip and ATS footbed.
